We declined, even though the place is beautiful. RVs and vehicles with rooftents have to stay up at the small parking lot, which, at 50 BOB per person per day, did not appeal to us, especially when we found out that the designated bathroom was filthy and clogged.

We only had a short look at this place because the guy told us they are currently using the area around the van parking as work space so it’ll be loud during the day and we should spent the time somewhere else on the property but he still wanted to charge the 50Bol per person. We got a room at El Mirador hostel for 35Bol pP and where our dog was welcome.

Outstanding welcoming host around Simón and his team. Perfect, lovely place – the best we have seen in town as a campground. We came with our Defender with a cabin here – there a some spaces just in the beginning of the campground. You can walk from there to the town within 15 Minutes. They also offers laundry service, the restaurant is excellent (we have creamy guacamole and some awesome T–Bone–Steaks from the Altoplato) and WiFi is working great in the restaurant. They also speaks German. Soooo happy to be here....

Still a great place to escape the altitude and the cold. We camped in our rooftop tent with 30 bol per person per day. A bit confusing on how to get here so you need drive through Sorata and then keep left. Pass over the bridge and look for the sign on your left. Follow this small street for 700m. Enjoy it!!!!

A real oasis! One of the best places we have been throughout our trip. Highly recommended. Johnny and his family are very lovely and caring and the hotel and campground are marvelous in the middle of nature and with lots of animals. There is a steep footpath to the village, it takes around 15 minutes to get to the plaza.
We camped in the tent and paid 30 bolivianos per person. No wifi, but who needs internet in this surrounding? Internet is hard to find in Sorata everywhere.

Quite the oasis!! Super friendly owners (with such a diverse family!), beautiful grounds, and much-appreciated weather after spending many cold nights at high altitude. 30B /person, still no wifi. Take note of what others have said about the road - we're in a 4Runner so didn't have any problems. We also left our car here one day while we hiked to Laguna Glaciar. (See "tourist info" post pinned in Sorata for more info about doing the hike in one day as opposed to 3)

This is a wonderful and relaxed place to stay when you come with a tent or when you rent a room. If you come with a vehicle/campervan it should be really a small one. Either you stay around the entrance our if it is small enough (like our VW T5 Kombi, 5m long, 2m with, just fitted) you can go one level down but it is tricky to drive.
There is a track up to the village after crossing the river but you should ask for the key (gated entrance).
The owners are really friendly and helpful, the shower is hot and the food is excellent. After 5 days of driving coming from Rurrenabaque via Mapiri it is like paradise.
But: There is no WiFi and it is also not available at the close by Café Illampu. You have to go to town for that. But there WiFi is difficult to find as well.

El camino de Copacabana a Sorata es de asfalto, pero, desde la entrada del pueblo hasta el camping todo es de tierra con profundos socavones no aptos para autocaravanas ni vehículos que no sean altos. Solo llegan a la zona de camping vehículos pequeños 4x4 porque hay una gran pendiente en curva y si llueve todo es barro. Los vehículos medianos tipo van pueden quedarse a la entrada -solo hay sitio para uno-. No hay WIFI

Nice setting on the river, but rather expensive. No space for big sized overlanders. Swimming pool and beautiful garden.

One of the best campgrounds of our trip to date. Lots of grassy areas to pitch a tent plus a fire pit that we used nearly every night. Very friendly English-speaking staff. The camping area's kitchen was wood-fire only. We used the oven half a dozen times with great success. Internet is available in the restaurant, which serves great food at reasonable prices, but only worked a couple hours during our six night stay. Also, if you are in need of a Toyota mechanic, ask the owners here. Highly recommended! Electricity available in the kitchen. Internet was sketchy.

This is a lovely little campground. Access is however very difficult and absolutely not recommended in a larger vehicle. Even in smaller vehicles you must back down into the car park area as the turn into the drive is not possible. However this is a beautiful place to spend some time. We couldn’t stay because it was fully booked by competitors in a bicycle race – and we would have struggled to get in anyway !
