Something not right?

Description

The thermal springs of Caldera would have been our destination, but the last 500 meters were impassable (too high rocky steps for our car). The dirt road to other hot springs was not passable neither because of mud. We spent a very quet night at the banks of the Rio Chiriqui. Nice place to camp. 3G connection.

Beautiful and quiet place to spend the night. Good for swimming too.

Enough space for several vans near the river. Short dirt road to get to the sight and one “moving” bridge. If you want to hike to the hot springs it’s $3 pp to the property caretakers.

Quiet night on flat area above the banks of the river. Large enough for three 6-7 meter campers. A bit muddy after a big rain the previous afternoon. No services but road was in decent shape and a van with lower clearance and 2WD was able to access the site, though it is not recommended to drive all the way down to the riverbank in the rainy season due to mud and the possibility of the need to evacuate due to flash flooding (there is a sign in English and Spanish to warn you). Excellent place to camp after an afternoon soak in the hot springs.

After visiting the hot springs, we drove down to this spot for the night. Families use it during the weekend for swimming, but we were there alone. Plenty of space, not totally flat but with a stone we made it work! At night it was pretty buggy, but no blood suckers. Pretty quiet. Just a few cars on the road nearby before 8pm. One local cowboy on horseback rode by, maybe just curious. Lots of birds all around. Water is cool and refreshing to swim in before bed and again in the morning!

we didn’t camp here but i’m sure it would be very nice. if you don’t want to drive over the bridge you could camp on the closer side too. lots of cows in the field nearby and the river is a great place to cool off.

Great camping location! 5 or 6 years since the last review and it's still a great spot.

No cellphone reception FYI.
