Description

The main bus station in Chavin also offers parking. We asked the security guard if we could park and stay the night. She asked us to go below the point of these coordinates so you pass the front of the bus station and go down the ramp on the left and there is a huge empty parking lot with lights and covered areas. If you want complete seclusion at the far end of the lower car park you can park behind a red-roofed building. Kids playing football early evening but apart from that no other noise, not even buses on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. Security 24 hrs, gate left open so you can come and go, eat locally but you are out of sight of people using the bus station. Great find! Clean, flat and secure. Bathrooms available 50 centavos. Not very clean at time of our visit! Free.

Stayed two nights during the week. Bathrooms are easy to access in the bus terminal for S/.60. Sometimes clean, sometimes not. Right now, the covered parking areas in the photos are full of tents. There are victims/“damnificados” living in them—maybe from landslides in the area? We sort of felt like we were encroaching on their space, but everyone was very kind. Caspian played with a bunch of the kids. One man parked his moto taxi somewhere else because we were beside his normal spot, and he was super nice about it. There were water hoses and spigots, but they were being used by the refugees. So we didn’t use them. We would stay here again, as long as we could do so without bothering the temporary residents.

Awesome spot for a night to check out the ruins in the morning and have it all to yourself. Private, but some people use it as a passageway from the nearby river to the town and there is some construction nearby. All friendly. Note: don't trust navigation to get you here, it will send you over the bridge to the other side of the river. Pull into the big white bus stop, take the left ramp, and go all the way down. Entrance to behind the red building is on the right hand side, no height restriction. Bathrooms in the bus station were fine, free early in the morning, and open all night when we were there. Enjoy!

This is a great find, close to everything and walking distance to the ruins. We tried to find someone to ask if we could stay the night and no one seemed to be in charge. So we pulled in the left entrance and took the ramp all the way down to the lowest parking. Didn't seem that anyone had used this area in a long time. We pulled around the back side of the building with the red roof. Everything seems to be completely unused. Had a peaceful night without noise from the road. There is plenty of space here for any size rig. Bathrooms in the terminal are 50 centavos but not clean.
