Latest Check-Ins

There are no standard campsites anymore, only two sites with private facilities that are N$250/pppn. They didn’t give any discount. They’re building permanent tents to replace the standard campsites (looks like they’re going to be really close to each other). The private campsite was nice, though. Good facilitites (pretty new?), donkey shower, sink, toilet, electricity (by solar), and a separate, roofed ”sitting area”. We heard lions and buffaloes at night. Warthog visited our camp, too. Really close to the gate of Nkasa Rupara NP, only about 2,5 km to the gate, so convenient to go for an early morning drive.
The manager just had a bit too much of ”money first” -attitude. Also, please note that the people here don’t like wild camping, so please don’t do it. You’ll be in someone’s private land.

So far 200pppn with nobody inside and no real facilités for that price we let them Know we think it's really expensive compared to other camp we've been. We de ided to leave and the réceptionnist let us know it's forbidden to bush camp a'd asked a security man to follow us by car to ensure we do not camp in the wild... Makong business is their first priorité. Many other communistes camp in the area avoid this one !

Report Check-In

really cool campsite really close to the Nkasa Rupara Park. friendly receptionist, campsite & ablutions in really good shape and well maintained, congratulations on that. we only stayed one night and had to leave the next day but its a lovely place to stop by.

Report Check-In

really friendly, we saw warthogs running over the camp. some big game noises at night. we liked it a lot

Report Check-In

Lovely campsites on a channel. No water though as it’s very dry all round this time of year, but the setting is still lovely. Good shower and clean facilities. Excellent proximity to park. Would return.

Report Check-In

Great camp and paid N200 for 1 night (community gets 50% and lodge 50%) Very friendly staff, pitches and ablution very clean!

Report Check-In

Basic but lovely campsite. I did not get an answer to email/phone, so we came without reservation, we were the only guests. Spaces close to a channel (no hippo), with water, trees (shade), and braai point, but no electricity. Clean ablution block, we did not get hot water but not a problem. 200 pppn for standard campsites, 250 pppn for campsite with private ablution. very close to nkasa rupara park entry. Managing is the same a nkasa rupara tented lodge so activities can be booked there (expensive though)

Report Check-In

We came here because the Livingstone Camp was fully booked. It‘s so nice that we decided to stay here for another night. We had Elephants on the other side of the channel feeding, drinking and playing around. Recommendation

Report Check-In

Camped for 2 nights for N$500 per night on site #1 which has a great view of the nearby channel. No game sighted but hippo, lion and hyena heard at night. The caretaker is named Starlight and is most helpful and friendly. He helped to arrange a game drive and boat cruise for us run by nearby Nkasa Lupala Lodge. The boat cruise is highly recommended. We paid N$1250 pp for the combined game drive/boat cruise and they will collect you from the campsite and return you afterwards which is included in the price. Take note that for those with big vehicles there is a 12 tonne weight limit on the two river bridges that one crosses to access the campsite and the bridges are quite narrow!

Report Check-In

Neat and lovely campsite. Recommended! We paid N$200 pppn

Report Check-In

We camped at site 7. Lovely place next to a small stream. At N$200 pppn it was a good overnight.

Report Check-In

We enjoy our stay. Nice an clean Campsite. Very nice and clean ablution with hot water. Price was now 190 pppn. Very friendly staff.

Report Check-In

We booked and stayed here for 2 nights but where quite disappointed of the whole infrastructure and what you get for a stiff price of N$250/ppn. No power or any lights at the sites, The water not drinkable (murkey). No shelter of any sort. No toilet paper the first day. They did not heat up the donky once - so no hot water for shower or dishes. We payed an extra N$30 for firewood and they brought us five pices. Some of the sites do not have a view at all (just a tree to park under and a pice of cement which serves as the beaai area (no grids if any sort). There was no water in the channels therefore not so many animals to see. We inquired at Reception for a boatcruise but where told we have to drive to the lodge to ask (if you have a rooftent not very convenient as you do not want to pack up all the time). We would not stay here again as there are much better and nicer community camps in the area.

Report Check-In

On arrival the place was not clean, no water, only little maintenance and care.
Later we got water, but in the morning it was off again.
In the waterhole just a little bit water and mud.
Hyena around our car during night.
NAD 190 - to expensive!!!

Report Check-In

We loved this spot. beautiful landscape, good ablution and dish washing area, clean, (though water had a funny smell. maybe because not many travellers these days).
Run for the community by the Nkasa Rupala lodge, where you can also drop by if you want to have a drink at the bar..

Report Check-In

Price is 190 N$ pppn. Facilities are nice and clean. Price however is a bit steep, question is howmuch of this goes to the community. Drive here us not very well signposted and for people who drive a truck please note that there are 2 bridges to cross with a signposted weight limit if 12 t.

Report Check-In

Now 190R. Very clean, good service. Worth it.

Report Check-In

Close to the entrance of the NP.
But too expensive for what you get. N$180 pp !!!!
Water is cristal clear now.
And in the evening you get a serenade from the frogs at the waterhole.

Report Check-In

Currently 4 campsites are open, sharing one simple, new ablution block (2 hot donkey fired showers, 2 toilets, one sink). Three more sites and another ablution block as well as 3 self-catering units are under construction. Beautiful wild setting. Sites are reasonably spaced apart, under big trees, flat, on silty dirt, with a concrete fireplace pad and water tap at each site. Water comes from a borehole. When we were here it had sediment and was cloudy. Campsite rate is N$180 per person. You can reserve via the Nkasa Lupala Lodge. Telephone: 81 1477798. [email protected].

Report Check-In

The upmarket 'livingstone' lodge has now taken over this community camp. Investing 450,000 rand upgrading facilities. The price has now increased to 160 per person (yes really !) as of June 1st 2017. Campsites are being setup and are thoughtfully positioned spread along a simple watercourse. It is just 3kms to gate of park but game is free to move from Botswana through park and through campsite. Feels very 'in the African bush', a good spot and if more game around would be worth the cost. This camp across the border would cost at least double. We visited June, grass high and majority of game drifted deeper into bush. We were told by campstaff to come back July or August, then it has many elephants roaming through and lions visible often from campsites. Sandy trails but not too difficult to get to, multiple tracks all eventually will lead you to here, just find the right trail. We did not like the price doubling but it is probably worth that cost. Local community still get 50 from each person that camps.

Report Check-In

When we arrived some elephants nearby the place. On campsite 1 you have a beautiful sight on the waterhole with also a lot of birds. Helpfull people. Hot donkey showers.
The price is now NAM$ 180 pp!

Report Check-In

Good facilities with a private donkey shower heated anytine on request. Possibility for using fridge or charging electrical devices if you ask at the reception. Very close to the national park. They are renovating, building shelters to camp under. Cost of 80 NAD pppn.

Report Check-In

As below, still same price! Good place to stay before the NP. 30 for SADC, 40 for international and 10 for the car.

Report Check-In

Some call it basic facilities - I call in luxurious! I don't think you'll find a 2000 USD per night Lodge where you can take a hot shower with view on the waterhole.
We really love that camp.

Price still 80N$

Report Check-In

Lovely place! track to site sandy in places. no one here when we arrived.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot in the middle of grassy area, totally worth driving to. Follow the Lupala Lodge signs if needed. No crocodiles in the water for once, so our dog finally got to swim here :) Cost: still only N$80 pp!
