Like it was said before 190 communal and 280 private, apparently no communal available for us so we took the „private“ one. You are right next to other private sections which doesn’t bother me, just for people who care about that.
My experience wasn’t worth that money overall. There was loud music until midnight. During the nights there were baboons or other animals going through the trash and throwing it all over the place. I know part of the journey and adventure. It stank in the tents. They could have just told us that, so we would leave the trash in the car till the next morning like when we do wildcamping. Maybe our mistake, who knows.
Wouldn’t do it again like we have seen much nicer places.
Rather would go to a campsite outside (for example Weltevrede)

Pros:
-Decent pool in the Center of the camp. Just a few chairs under shadow
-cleanish ablations
-Close to the gate
-got a shop

Contra:
- expensive (in my opinion)
- not really a campsite
- no helpful information about sossusvlei

Report Check-In

Price is now 190 for "communal" and 280 for "private" pppn. We had a gently push for the communal one as initially they said there was some maintainence going on. Felt much nicer than the private option. Note there is a good pool at BOTH separate camp spots. Camping/Engen staff friendly and helpful with advice. They let us keep our motorbike and stuff in the garage for free whilst we hitchhiked into the park.

Report Check-In

very nice campsite, helpfull and friendly staff. good value, for sure the best close to Sossuvlei

Report Check-In

Nice campsite, shop, tyre workshop and fuel station. Much cheaper campsite than in the park. Group camping is basically just a normal camping with shared ablutions. There it costs 190pppn. They really tried hard to sell us the private camping for 280pppn. Even told us, the group camping was closed, but it was not. You really have to fight, when you don't want to pay the higher price in low season.
Apart of that, it's a nice campsite with clean ablutions and big sites.
People generally in Sesriem are not very friendly, too many tourists I assume.

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 beautiful nights at the campsite. Better book in advance as it gets quite occupied, we were lucky and we took the last spot. The price is 175pp for a group camp. Close to the gate of Namibian desert. Clean bathrooms and showers. Pool is definitely a plus!

Report Check-In

The campsite was full, but we insisted (we only have a small tent) and they finally allowed us to camp in the parking, under a solar panel roof. We paid 120N$ pppn. The next day, we could let our bicycles in the garage and went hitchhiking to Sossusvlei. Very quiet at night, but the gas station open up at 6am, so lot of traffic in the early morning. WiFi available at the shop, they give ticket for 1h and 1000MB.

Report Check-In

Be aware that, during school holidays in South Africa - july 1-15, this place (in fact, all of the campgrounds) get full capacity. I couldn't get a place in any campground, and nobody allowed me to just pitch my tent in an open space (there are many!).Do book ahead in this season, or be prepared to pay 200 USD in a lodge...

Report Check-In

We didn’t have to pre-book, there was still space on the group pitches (which are in actual fact private pitches with water and power, just without a private bathroom). The staff were friendly and very keen to ask us questions about our bicycles! Sesriem isn’t a town as such, more a collection of campsites and lodges with a petrol station - but it does the job of a place to stay before Sossusvlei fine.

Report Check-In

Better book in advance before showing up there. We arrived at the reception (gas station) and the guy loughed at us when we said we have no reservation... Always nice to be loughed at. 6 weeks in Namibia and we never booked a place in advance, never had any troubles. Every person at that gas station was not friendly to us (the whole "town", if we can call that a town, is not friendly - too many tourists) and we left without regrets.
Hope you guys will have a better experience than us. In our opinion, Sossuvlei area is the worse place in all Namibia.

Report Check-In

Friendly reception. WiFi reasonable at the pool.

Report Check-In

nice campsite surrounded by mountains. very welcome at the reception. 250 pppn

Report Check-In

Really liked the camp. All is neat and working. Campsites reasonably spaced from each other.
Stayed at the one with the private ablutions, 250 pp.

Only the pool needs a bit more of attention - or better chemicals. It was a bit greenish :-D

Ask at the reception for the wifi voucher. Stayed at camp no 10 - wifi was working there. Slow but steady.

At the reception (=petrol station) you can anything in the small but well stocked shop. Big thumbs up !

Report Check-In

The campsite is lovely - a big area with private, spaced out, plots and ablutions. A pool and common area in the centre, where the wifi works (but is slow). 250pppn private camps.

The way the place is run is less lovely... They advertise a "Group Camping" area for 175pppn but it seems they push everyone to the private camp first - we were told there were renovations at the group camp, but later they put a camper there, and some other staff seems surprised about "renovations". We walked there and didn't see any works and everything seemed to be working fine. They will also ask how many people and nights before telling you if there is any space - we arrived as a group of 4 (2 cars, 1 motorbike) and asked for group camping, but they forced us all to one single private plot at the full rate.

The shop is quite well stocked also, with fridge and freezer sections of food and drink.

If you go expecting to pay for the private camping for a couple nights, you will have a lovely stay.

Report Check-In

Really bad camp site. 175 per person in community camp and 250 with private ablution. We stayed a night, bought a tire and did shopping in the shop. For the second nicht thay were full and not even let us have a shower. Really unfriendly host. It is also said that all the caps work together against free camping. They treat it as a crime as it isnt in fact. Next what happens is that the service goes down, as you neeeeed to stay at a camp. Only one example, locks dont work on toilets and the wind blows it open. Thats how you do the rest of your business. Isnt this the lest maintanance they coud do to fix such basic things?

Report Check-In

The campground has private spots or a group camping spot, where we stayed. Very much enjoyed staying here. Campsite comes with own braai, electricity point and running water. Toilet/showers clean. They have the reception and a gas station in one building. There is a shop where you can get some groceries to stock up. You get a wifi voucher upon arrival which only works at the shop but the connection is good.

The only remark I have is that when we first came to enquire about a spot for one night, then they said they did not have anything available. When we went to look further (and realised that the campsite in the park was double the price) we came back and asked if they had availability the day after. When they realised we wanted to stay for 2 nights they all the sudden had space. If you want to stay at your own spot rather than the group campsite, I recommend booking ahead as they get full quickly.

Note that it does get windy in Sossusvlei and we've experienced lots of mosquitos so make sure you bring enough insect repellent.

Report Check-In

Still a nice campsite. Last time we visited was in March 2019. Prices in Nov 2022: With private ablutions N$250/pppn, group campsites N$175/pppn. There is a pool in both, at the private area and the group area. Wifi only in reception but free. Some group sites are little too close together (13 a, b, c and d), others are better. The best is nr.15. Good showers with solar. But do NOT bother to go for a dinner to the Sossusvlei Lodge, it is very bad food, lousy ”service” and too expensive for what you get. Even the lodge staff thought that the food was crap(!).

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite with spacious places in a natural environment. But do not mistake your given place number because unfriendly manager will come to force you to move. Extremely rude and un politécnico White man. 170 ND pp. In the morning helicopter and airplane will wake you up!

Report Check-In

We went without reservation. The camp with private abolitions was full, but they have a “community camp” aka shared abolutions which was great. Payed 320 or 360, don’t quite remember :D
Only problem was some kind of cricket plague at that time - they were everywhere!

Report Check-In

Campsite itself is lovely and very nicely designed with all the facilities I needed. Nice pool, just what I needed to cool off! WiFi might not be the fastest but it’s free, and anyway I didn’t come here to use the internet. Right next to the park gates - as close as you can get without paying the higher rates to camp inside. Only negative is the noise and light pollution at night, but that relates to the general area rather than this camp specifically and is the usual cost of visiting a top tourist hotspot!
Still $200 NAD pppn.

Report Check-In

200 n pppn for private Campsite, own toilet, shower and shaded area. 165 n pppn for group camping. Pool in the middle of the camps
Petrol station and shop too, WiFi only works there though, too far away for the campsites. Didn't get much/any mtc signal at site 4. Nice friendly staff.

Report Check-In

Great campsite. I paid 200$ for 1 person, 1 car in one of the private spots. Can highly recommend this place. Wifi was free. No Reservation needed.

Report Check-In

The campsite inside the Soussusvlei are more expensive so we decided to stay the night just outside the gate.
There are 12 spots in a bit circle around a swimming pool. Each spot has it's own (clean) ablution, shaded area and braai. As far as we could see the spots inside the Soussusvlei park are almost the same.

N$400 for two adults and two children

Report Check-In

correct camp, not the best we encountered. wifi is poor, only ok near the fuel station.
no tables and chairs in each campsite. But ok for water, hot water, toilets. no trees but roof with wood.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite just outside of the national park. 12 campsites each with own shady spot, very lovely shower and bathroom - lodge-like feeling - we paied Covid special price 160N$/pp - price tag indicated 230. nice sunset. next to the street but not noisy after dark. Clean and refreshing pool. Booking at the fuel station, very friendly staff - knew more about football european championship results than we did ;). wifi voucher available at fuel station. we stayed one night in the park and after visiting Sossusvlei our here - this is the better equiped campground, even if both offer all you need.

Report Check-In

Great campsite - each pitch has its own kitchen, toilet, shower (a pretty good one for post dune washing!) and braai area. I paid the “special discount” rate of 160 for one person and car. The pool is kept clean and although cold is a real treat when you’ve been covered in sand all day. Keep your tent zipped up to prevent the local cricket population sharing with you overnight. Petrol station next door has plenty of essential supplies. Nice people who can’t wait for the return of tourists!

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite with your own ablutions, kitchen and shower. There is a clear pool to cool off after a hot morning exploring Sossusvlei. If your goal is to see the dunes and dead vlei in early light, rather stay inside the park at the NWR campsite as you get an hour headstart to drive to Sossusvlei. However, this is the better campsite.

Report Check-In

Jedes Campsite mit eigener Toilette/Dusche, Tankstelle und gut sortierter Shop mit frei wifi für 1 Stunde, 160$ pP

Report Check-In

Nice campsite with cover, private ablutions, power and swimming pool.
Issues would be noise from the road and village. Campsites 5 and 6 also get a whiff of the septic tank regularly. We paid R250pppn. Pricey for what it is but proximity to Sousvlei (without paying the high rates to stay inside the park) make it okay.

Report Check-In

Really recommend staying here, as previous reviews have said; own ablutions and good clean pool. We (site 2) also had a sewerage smell 6-7am but the rest of the time was fine. Only major downside for us was the armoured ground cricket infestation, perhaps this is seasonal.
Paid 320 for 2 people.

Report Check-In

Everything as described before. Still special rates of 160N$ per person. Nice campground here, Campsites arranged in a big circle. Wifi available at shop: as a camper you will get a voucher for free.

Report Check-In

Great campsite. Experienced guide told us that you might as well go into Sossusvlei later in the afternoon, to have good light. Good advice, because then you don’t need to experience the NWR ‘hospitality’. Reduced rate now 160 NAD pp. Friendly staff.

Report Check-In

In our opinion this is the nicest campsite in Sesriem. The only advantage of others is being able to leave early for Deadvlei. Ablutions excellent, swimming pool as cold as eveywhere else in Namibia:) Site 4 and 5 sometimes get a whiff of sewage and you do get noise from the village on a weekend. We paid 160 NAD pppn, discounted rate (post lockdown). We were lucky to have a wonderful full moon rise 3 nights in a row and view from no 5 was spectacular. Be aware that gate is locked between 7pm and 7am so if you need to leave early then arrange it the night before. We would stay here again definitely. We checked NWR but ablutions were awful there and Oshana is very nice but spots are close to each other and it gets noisy with people.

On another note, Namib Sky Safaris, 20km south on C27 are running a promotion on sunrise balloon flights at 3475 NAD pp 40 mins flight and a luxurious champagne bfast on the desert. We did it and would highly recommend as usually it is twice as expensive.

Report Check-In

This was a nice campground with private ablutions, shade and a pool. Hyenas and jackals did get into our trash right after people settled for the night, but we learned to be more careful after that. We would definitely stay again.

Report Check-In

very nice campsite with a shop. nice pool as well. 165nd for the campsite on the tree shadow and 230 for the campsite on a shelter with private abolutions.
just in front of the gate to sossusvlei

Report Check-In

New campsite. We were on the shared bathroom part. Very clean, with fite pits, braais, electricity, light at each site. Can be very windy at night. Not much shade during the day but a nice little swimming pool. Nice shop that closes at 7 pm at the petrol station with very nice sandwiches!

Report Check-In

Price is currently (high season?) 230 nad for private camp and 165 nad for group camp. Private shower didnt really get hot.

Report Check-In

165 NAD ppn for shared ablutions. checked twice if it 150 or 165 ppn.

Report Check-In

Would almost recommend the group campsite over the private ones, its further from the road, has natural tree shade and very nice ablutions. Electricity and braai at each site and a small communal swimming pool and scullery for dishes etc.

Report Check-In

very nice campsite. there are two options: campsite with private ablutions: 210nad. shared ablutions: 150nad.
Better and much cheaper campsite than the one across the road from NWR.

Report Check-In

If it’s full you can camp near the Internet cafe for 80 N$ or for free if you talk more.
With Internet WiFi too.

Report Check-In

All campsites with private ablutions were booked. We booked ours on our way to Sossusvlei (this campsite is right outside the main entrance). It was about noon when we arrived and book and we got #15 campsite which is the most remote - but more privacy - but farther to the ablution block - which is ok too. Nice big space with a tree, tap but no sink, braai, electricity. Wifi? I see 2 private networks but with different names than Oasis. Electricity also at each campsite.
Ablution block well maintained with hot water in shower and nice water pressure.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite, we stayed at the site with shred ablutions which were nice with good showers. Nice pool and each site has some shade. Great location to enter the park the following morning.

Report Check-In

12 spots with private ablutions (210N$pp) and 7 spots with shared ablutions (150N$pp). We got the last spot at the shared ablutions campsite, so fully booked around 16h. The shared ablutions are fine, with good hot shower. There also is a tiny clean pool. All spots have electricity, water and a braai, some have more shade than others.

Report Check-In

The private camps were all booked so we stayed at the communal one. Not bad at all with decent ablutions

Report Check-In

The 12 spots were booked out. There is a new area on the far left with communal toilets and showers.
It cost 145 per person.
Alternatively there is an area next to the Internet cafe office that was around 66 per person. You get WiFi all night and we were given a lead with two plugs chairs and table.
It’s behind the trash room si it might be a bit smelly at times. Concrete floor.

Report Check-In

We stayed at the second campsite, which has shared ablutions. Sites ar close together and each has a braai stand, water tap and electricity which didn't work at our site. 145 ND pppn

Report Check-In

Very close to the park entrance. 200 N$ per person. We got the Last Spot at 14:00 , looks like it's well booked.
Our leashed dog was accepted, after we declared, that it's always on leash and does not disturb other guests.

Report Check-In

quite expensive, no shade, except from the huts where you have your own ablutioms. Still the better choice compared to NWR camp

Report Check-In

They have also a new place with communal ablutions.
We paid 135 pppn.

Report Check-In

Just as described. Private ablutions and cooking area are very well maintained. Cost is N$360 for 2 people per night.

Report Check-In

This campsite is next to the fuel station outside the national park. Each of 12 camp stands has its own private ablution, private dishwashing sink with hot water and thatch sheltered concrete floored shelter. Internet is in the cafe next to the petrol station.

Cost:N$120
