Namibia
Large National Park campsite with ablutions, dishwashing area, nighttime lit waterhole is a must to visit before going to bed!
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
First camp we did entering Etosha. waterhole okay, we saw many elephants, they come really close as they have food on a plate. definitely not the best waterhole in terms of view but still nice. ablutions okay. expensive for what it is but you are inside Etosha and have access to the waterhole so it's nice.
Report Check-Inawesome camp spots under the trees with grass!! good swimming pool + great friendly staff
Report Check-InBig campsites each with electricity, table and chairs and braai area. Taps all over the camp. Lots of shade.
Wifi available at restaurant and there is a swimming pool. Staff very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms looks dated but it is clean with hot water showers.
May is a stunning time of the year to visit.
Report Check-InVery busy and woken up at 5am by the overland tourist truck getting breakfast and packing up.
Report Check-InWe stayed two nights, the Thursday and Friday of Easter weekend. The campsite was very busy (presumably because of the Easter holidays) with all sites occupied but nevertheless the campsite was kept clean and tidy and it was spacious. Ablutions were clean with lots of hot water. Nice grassy plot with power, light and braai stand. Very close to the restaurant and bar, and waterhole. We paid N$450 for the three of us using a ground tent and roof top tent and two cars. Highly recommend.
Report Check-Inno comments ... service and maintenance seems not to exist.
I hope for NWR they will improve
Most expensive place to camp in Namibia 1040nad for 2 adults and 1 kid 5 years old. (416pp). Just convenient after a long day driving in etosha. Almost no shade at our spot. Been 4 times to waterhole only to spot 2 zebras once. Mangoose around reception and campsite.
Report Check-InOverpriced and mismanaged, told site was full, it was half empty, they take bookings then people don't bother showing up but they don't get charged for it, must be government run?
Report Check-InIn our opinion, this is the best of the three camps (Okakeujo, Halali & Namutoni). Grassed campsites, not half bad ablutions (actually had hot water showers) & facilites, good network coverage. I am stunned at
the poor reviews this camp gets. I cannot agree.
Nice camping experience, and yes ablutions are border line unacceptable especially for the cost of camping here. N$400 SADC special per site until end October 2022. This special is not available with online bookings so claim it when arrive. Always seems to be plenty of camping sites available here so booking does not seem necessary anyway. Add park fees of N$100 pp and N$50 per vehicle per day. Beware of Black Backed Jackal at night who is very cunning at stealing food even behind ones back while preparing food.
Report Check-InMy favorite camp spot in Etosha, better than Halali, Okaukuejo and Olifantsrus. The pitches are flat, big and with shade from large trees. Clean, slightly worn down ablutions. But much more inviting than Halali. Good pool area too. Waterhole isn’t that good but there’s a lot of game around the campsite, again, better than the other ones in Etosha. Same price as the rest of the campsite, N$712 for 2 adults (except Olifantsrus which is over N$800)
Report Check-InWe were only stopping for a picnic, but wanted to update that it looks like this place has been spruced up since the last reviews. Neatly mowed grass, spotless ablutions, soap dispensers topped up and everything functioning OK as far as I could tell. Albeit shabby and in poor repair. We stayed at both Okaukuejo and Halali but to me this looked like the nicest of the 3 campsites - lots of grass and shade. And we saw loads of game and bird life on our drive round Fisher’s Pan near by.
Report Check-InA dissapointment after all the good things we read about Namutoni. Okaukuejo is a much better camp.
Report Check-InThis campsite and fascilities are not as well maintained as the other Etosha camps. We were dissapointed. everything is overgrown and not kept neat.
Report Check-InLots of campsites with electricity and water. Ablutions a bit neglected and need maintenance. Fort and museum closed at the time. Shop very expensive! We paid ND400 for the campsite (max. 4 people) which was a SADC special at the time throughout the park.
Report Check-Inrun down campside, broken water taps, no maintenance, totally overpriced, raised daily park fees for foreigners (400N$ for 2 p.P,) pus 400 N$ Camping!
really bad road conditions between up to Namotoni!
Will be our last visit of this N.P.!
...and big bushfires destroid hugh areas and and animal population!!
NAD200 ppn - overpriced.
The ablutions are clean, hot showers with good pressure, but no maintenance. The campsites are nice, some under trees, with grill area and a concrete bench and 6 seating places under a roof (not all sites the same).
The pool was clean.
The Fort is still closed
Nice shady campsite, a bit smaller than Okaukeujo but has two big ablution blocks. Ablution blocks a bit run down but everything in good working order and cleaned regularly. was on special at the time $120 per campsite (4 pax) per night.
Report Check-InWe stayed for a few days, as wildlife has been the best to spot around this campsite (compared to other NWR sites within the park). 400 NAD per site, covid special until Mid Year. Daily cleaning of the ablution block. But: Literally everything was somehow broken down, leaking, missing or not in use in the ablution block... You can go here, but don't expect too much.
Shop rather empty than helpful.
The price is N$400 per night for the first 4 people. The next person pays N75 pppn
Report Check-InSpecial NAD 100 per person per night. Ablutions were clean, hot showers. We saw a lion nearby the waterhole and a Small-spotted Genet
Report Check-InI stayed for 3 months here during the carona lockdown, with the campsite to myself 95% of the time. The showers are poor. The only Etosha campsite with good 3G signal (Halali was upgraded but it’s very on/off). Plus great animals in a diversity of landscapes. I’d never stay if full, cramped spaces, not enough showers etc.
They are expanding the camping area and building new ablutions at some point.
Shame the cool, old fort is going completely to waste. Nice to have some gardens to walk around in.
Perhaps due to lack of people, a leopard was jumping the gate at night so be careful. Also many snakes when it’s hotter, saw the staff removing a puff adder from under a chalet etc and they confirmed this was common.
Great memories :)
Nice Camping area not even halfway occupied when we were there. We booked online wich also can be done the same day and payed only 99 N$ pppn
Report Check-InNice camping with clean bathrooms, large sites with shade and electricity. Muddy in the rainy season. Restaurant, infocenter and waterhole nearby. No animals today. We payed ND 330 for 2 persons.
Report Check-InWe enjoyed to stay here. Swimming Pool and nearby Waterhole is very nice.
Report Check-InOur favourite campsite in Etosha. Nice shaded sites with braai, electricity and tap. Nice ablutions and place to wash dishes and do laundry. Camp itself is nice with swimming pool, shop, museum, bar, restaurant and waterhole. 3G with MTC
Report Check-Instaff is very unfriendly. make shure you have cash enough, because the line doesn 't work every time,
Report Check-InCampsite close to Gate. There is a feul station. Big parking area. i did not camp here see my photos. very nice. clean. 2 set ablutions clean. cantean clean well stocked.
Report Check-InNamutoni Camp with his Fort is a classic stop.
Campsites do have water, electricity, braai place. Enough shade.
Shared ablutions which are well used but still okay.
Camping was 300 pppn.
Report Check-InWe didn’t stay here, we just checked out the waterhole and paid the fees.
BUT it’s the worst one out of Halali and Okaukujeo. Waterhole is hardly visible whereas at the other two it is as great!
Report Check-InFor us the worst campsite in Etosha! Staff totally unfriendly and waterhole is overgrown, so we didn't see much. Price was 620 N$ for 2 people...so way overpriced!
Report Check-InUsual campsite, much too expensive with 250 per site + 150 per person + 75 per child (6-12)
Report Check-InNetter Campground unter vereinzelten Bäumen. Strom, Infrastruktur soweit vorhanden, kein Internet. Man kann auf den Turm des alten Forts, hier hat man eine super Aussicht. Besser als am anliegenden Wasserloch.
Report Check-InLarge National Park campsite with ablutions, dishwashing area, nighttime lit waterhole is a must to visit before going to bed!
Cost:N$420 for site + 2 people
