Report Check-In

Nice calm place at the sea.
No lamps on the place at night.
Do not forget mosquito cream.
Only one 12V-lamp in the bungalows.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Tradition mit Herz, tolles Camp, Aussichtsturm, Bar, Hütten, Stellplätze sogar ne Werkstatt Ecke, schnell erreichbar nach der Wüste, kurz hinter Saint Louis, toller Ort.

Report Check-In

Amazing! Camping groung and bungalows. Camping 5 Euros per night. Restaurant and bar onsite.

Liebe HundehalterInnen (further down in english)
English:
Dear dog owners
We have three dogs and two of them run around freely on the site. Sometimes they are joined by wild dogs.
Unfortunately, many people find it unacceptable that the guest and camper dogs should remain tied up by the cars. Unfortunately, it has often happened that various dogs have started to fight on the terrace, at the bar and even in the kitchen. We were therefore forced to indicate that dogs are not welcome.
If you are willing to leave the dogs by the cars, trucks and not bring them into the restaurant, dogs are still welcome ;)
Have a good and save trip
Ursula und Martin

Report Check-In

A necessary evil if you want to enjoy the comfort of a reasonably clean shower after your time in Mauritania. Unfortunately, this is an unacceptable situation for dog owners.

The owners themselves have a couple of dogs that are not subject to any control, have been trained for human sharpness and do not accept other dogs anywhere on the site.
Attention! The dogs are not on a leash, not trained and aggressive. We were not allowed to stay in the front area, but the dogs also besieged us at our camper and attacked our dog several times. This also happens frequently here.

The charm of ten years ago has evaporated, the travelers no longer meet on this site as they used to. The site is hardly maintained any more and waste water simply flows onto the ground. The condition is good by African standards, but you would expect more from a Swiss lead.

Not recommended for dog owners.

Report Check-In

Perfect stop after leaving Mauritania, the change is visible right away as it is all green with a lot of water eveywhere, ocean on one side and salt lakes on the other. Very chilled and friendly place with great facilities, the best camp on the ocean we have been to in West Africa. Looks expensive at first (8e per person for a tent) but after we've seen what others charge around Senegal for the same money, it is worth the money and relaxed stay. Beer is 3e, there is also possibility of served food (dinner was 10e with dessert) but we cooked for ourselves. Clean beach and high 360° viewpoint in the camp. Swings, slides and table football also. Love the place!

Report Check-In

Perfect stop after the dusty time in the desert.

I used the workshop to check on my car. They got all the tools and Even a professinal welder.

A Must stop for all overlanders to relax.

Report Check-In

Nice place to meet other travellers.

Paid 5000 pp per night. Got water. Shower and toilets clean.

They offer food.

Clean beach.

Report Check-In

A classic camp for Overlanders arriving from Mauritania at this time of year. great to socialise and swap stories. Good facilities (won't repeat what others have said)

Report Check-In

After coming from Mauritania this place is a true paradise. Well deserving rest at a place where you meet a lot of other overlanders. Very chill and relaxed. Owners, Ursula and Martin are really nice people, very helpful and always mingle with tge crowd, always check if everything is ok or any help is needed. There's hot showers, toilets, washing stations, everything very clean. A lot if trees to camp in shaded spots, self-service bar with open tabs ( pay when you leave, but watch your consumption, may get pricey). Overall fantastic place. We stayed extra 4 days and never regretted it.

Report Check-In

Spent 1 night in a bungalow. Clean - does the trick for a stopover. Cold beer.
I paid 37,200 CFA for 1 night bungalow, 4 beers, 1 dinner, 1 coffee.

Report Check-In

since april 2023 it is possible to have electricity for mobilhomes.
in the showers is a solar hotwater system, since 27 years you have hot water in the showers.

Report Check-In

Very nice Place to chill for a few days! Always nice people around, clean toilets with paper and soap and good food as well! Definitely worth a visit!

Report Check-In

Stayed here for a few nights after having entered Senegal from Mauritania. A lovely campsite with lots of trees / shade. We arrived in our Toyota Hilux with RTT, but saw a mixture of vans and cars there also. A case of pick any spot for camping, they're not fussed. At the centre is the main self service bar and seating area, with more seating overlooking the sea. There is WiFi around the bar, and whilst a little slow works perfectly for keeping in touch with people. Toilets are good with plenty of sinks. Showers are clean, although I did struggle to get hot water. There is a friendly vibe at this site and it was great to pitch there for a few days, chatting with the other guests, and enjoyed a lovely group dinner one night. We would recommend this place for sure.

Report Check-In

Nice place but not so friendly! No food . Ordered 4 Omelettes and got 4 slices of dry cake @ 1500 ( 2.30euro each) I am diabetic so I couldn’t eat! But he insisted we pay!

Report Check-In

Very nice camping, you can camp or have a bangalo for 10000 cfa, the staff are very friendly !!

Report Check-In

We stayed only 2 nights instead of more as planned. We camp with a tent : 5000CFA/person.
The location is gorgeous and the site is beautiful with lots of shady places.
The garage/workshop is big and nice for working on cars/bikes. I had my own tools and changed the oil and front sprocket of my bike.
You will find a lot of other travellers to mingle and chat with good vibes.

But on the downside the facilities are a little run down. On the ground are 3 toilettes and 2 sinks close to where we pitched the tent. First night we had no lights in the facilities. During our stay we had continuously water supply interruption.
There are no tables, seats or benches around the site where you can sit for cooking etc. if you do not have it with you.
The walkways have no lights during the night, so that anybody is running around with torches.
There is not public kitchen or at least a sink with hot water where you can clean your dishes.
Hot showers are only available during the day. No boilers available. And after a camper group of 17 cars took the shower, it is cold.
You can search forever for electric switches to charge phones, cameras, laptop, etc. Behind the bar is an option to charge, but it does not work properly and leaves you with half charged phones after a day.

There is supposed to be wifi, but useless, because it is far to slow. Other receptions works slightly during the day, if not all guest using the cell at once.

Breakfast cost 3000CFA: industrial Baguette, two marmelades, half a mug of Nescafé. No milk, juice or sugar. Not worse the money at all.
For 1000CFA extra you get scrambled eggs , which were very tasty.

The dinner is delicious, but portion are small and will leave you hungry afterwards and is with 4500CFA overpriced as well, ccompared to good restaurants in St. Louis.

It could be a wonderful place to rest, recharge, work on vehicles and plan the further trip. But due to the downs it is not enjoyable and far to expensive, when you get on AirB&B or booking private rooms with hot shower, electricity, double bed with fresh linen, fast wifi, washing machine, fridge access and a kitchen use for 15000CFA in St. Louis.

It seems they live out of reputation instead of further developing the place. It is a pity, because the downs are standards on other Overlander campspots.
It is to be there if you are completely self-sufficient, but then there is no reason to be there.

Only recommendable, when you need to work on your vehicle.

Report Check-In

the place is as per the description. great to chill out for a day or more, pleasant owner, decent food in the evening.
bungalows available with hot shower and toilets.

Report Check-In

Super nice place. Not cheap, but not expensive either for what it offers. Nice and relaxed atmosphere, clean beach. Clean facilities, good food, cold beer :)
Lot of shaded areas to put up a tent or park a car. Friendly owners and staff.

Report Check-In

Really nice and beautiful area. The staff is quite nice even when I don’t understand them. Don’t know why people are arguing.

Yes you have to pay more for everything but i think this is quite normal. If you buy your meal or beer on the campsite in Germany, France or Italy you have to pay more than in a supermarket as well. So it’s an nonsense argument what I read

The area is clean, toilets are clean. You will find some waste around the beach, but this Is typical Africa and absolutely not compareable.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Yes it's a beautiful place but very expensive, the beach is very dirty and quite dangerous. And owners are the most big problem
They don't like Overlanders

Report Check-In

Thanks Zebrabar !! We spent three months with Ursula and Martin at the campsite. Because of the corona crisis we could not travel any further. Perfect for us with all the utilities we needed during the confinement period ...

Danke Zebrabar !!

Report Check-In

Over hyped and over priced.
Beach is covered in junk.
Dog crap left around the campsite.
Food reasonable, but very poor value.
Very disappointing place.

Report Check-In

owners built a paradise. much shade available, canoes for free, fun waves on the ocean side of the island opposite, warm sea water, not too much waste on the beach directly at the camping, water in wet season no problem, staff friendly and most helpful, not many mosquitoes but lots of beetles at night, some crabs during the night and a nuisance of a monkey in the morning. we were the only visitors so very peaceful!

Report Check-In

Very nice place. Far but worthy. Must bring food and everything else, if you don’t wanna buy at the restaurant, which is very good. Clean showers and toilets. Nice and helpful staff. Recommend it, definitely.

Report Check-In

Don’t really understand why people come to here ( far away from anywhere) to set up your own tent for nearly 8 euros per person, a beer is 2.5 euros ( 1 euro in supermarket).

If you have overland vehicle just wild camping anywhere around for free, if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay just get a hotel room in Saint-Louis or Louga( if you are in the way to somewhere)

Report Check-In

Nice enough spot, with adventure playground that’s great for kids and use of kayaks, but just way too expensive, food and drink twice the price of most other places and nothing special (breakfast 4000 CFA with omelette, lunch 4500, dinner 7000, beer 1800, water/ soft drinks 1500) WIFI non existent when we were there. Camping 5000 CFA pppn, dorms 7000pppn, bungalows 15,000 (double)

Report Check-In

Big campsite with a lot of shade. By the beach that is really dirty so going for a walk is not a nice experience. The whole area is apparently a national park, and it could be nice but ruined with garbage. There are shops in the small village 10 min walk. As soon as we arrived we were warned about the shortage of water, as well as on the way out when we were trying to fill up. Not really sure what 5000 cfa per person a night is paying for, if you cant even get water and wifi is not working at all. The owners are not helpfull and seems like they have more important guests rather than some overlanders. Not worth the money for sure!

Report Check-In

Nice place to relax, do some maintenance, and share info with travelers. Sire in the workshop ws great. no charge for service, just parts and tip to Sire

Report Check-In

Good spot, reasonably priced beer. WiFi isn’t great and a bit far out of town. But after having a look at the options in town this is definitely the nicest option!
Owners were pleasant and helpful.

Report Check-In

Nice camping with beautifull view. Lots of outdoor games for kids (playground) with shade.
No laundry facility, but some sinks are waiting your hands.
Yes some dogs, but also some monkeys roaming around ... that are kept away by the friendly dogs ...
All food is really expensive, but no one is coercing you to buy ... For some reasons, the restaurant was full every evening ... so maybe not that too expensive ?
Unfortunately, the owner is not much friendly: we were babysitting his invasive daughter every evening, but he never thanks or apologise ...

Report Check-In

Great campsite, beautiful location and experienced, helpful couple that run it. Definitely recommend a 2 to 3 day stay here.

Report Check-In

Was my second stay at Zebrabar. Always good to meet other travellers.
Really nice plays to camp and also do a dayoff. Its located in the Naturalparc.
Cost as said before: 5000.- CFA incl. parc, dinner 7000.-, bread 300.-.
Its not really cheap but worth it!

Report Check-In

too buisy, much too expensive; 5000 cfra pppn, the Mechanic is working the whole day, so it is like camp beside a garage, next door the rubbish is burning, so you got the smell of burning Plastik during the day, Martin, the owner, is very grumpy , his wife Ursula is friendly. sometimes no water at the sinks, Wifi is slow..... Many dogs and what they left behind :-(
staff is very friendly, you can buy Bread (300 cfra!) in the morning, that is very good, because there are no Shops close to the place, make sure, you have enough food, than you don't need to have Dinner here for 7000 cfra pp ;-) you can not chose what or when you'd like to eat... you have to eat, what they cook, the food is not really good,it is cheap frozen food,.... Lunch is at 2.30pm.... Dinner at 7.30pm, they call you with a hooter like in a kindergarden. everything is much too expensive for what you get!

Report Check-In

Really nice and lovely campground, although as others noted a bit overpriced. But fantastic setting under palms directly by the ocean

Report Check-In

Nice site in a great location. Clean toilets, cold water showers. Bar on site (try the local beer - La Gazelle). Cost for 4 adults was 20,000 CFA

Report Check-In

Nice campsite. Lots of space with shade. Beautiful surroundigs with a host of exotic birds. Be aware of the monkey!

Toilet and shower facilities are clean. The showers are warm in the afternoon. H

Furthermore they have a rig available and an on-site mechanic. Also they have a library, restaurant and bar at the campsite.

A nice location to stay for 2-3 nights.

We were however a bit disappointed that the owners weren't very welcoming. Also we heared that you can make use of the canoes at the campsite for free afterwards which would have been a nice activity to do there! Lastly the WiFi is superslow.

We paid € 16,- per night, two persons and a 4WD. In our opinion a little bit overpriced. Also the drinks and food are a little bit overpriced.

Report Check-In

Really nice campground as noted by others. Bar is pricey and it can add up without you realising. Also watch out for the roving red monkeys who will try and steal your food!

Report Check-In

As others say. 5000 camping. rooms various prices. see website as its updated. Swiss run place

All round good place to relax. itnisna bit expensive. beers at 1500 for a small flag. dinner is 7000 but is 3 course. I xookesta bit too. nobody worried about that. other's brought own beer and drank at their pitch.

perhaps a little expensive for overlanders. but they are still very welcome. I certainly was. there is a 1000 CFA per day national park charge which is included in room rates. so 4000 camping is not that bad. given the nice facilities there is available. my opinion of course

there is a mechanic. don't think he's an amazing mechanic. but i put the bike on the concreted workshop no trouble and workers on it myself. ramp for 4x4 too.

be warned. come in from the north road. I was coming from the south and followed maps.me which was a rough piste. some deep sand.

Report Check-In

Daily two persons tent 4.000 +1000 national park fee=5.000cfa. Dinner 7.000, lunch 4.000 and beer 1.800cfa. It is lovely place for tourist but if you are overlanding can be a little expensieve

Report Check-In

This place has everything to make it a worthwile stop after crossing the border from Mauritania. Nice views over the area from the tower, great view over the river, clean huts, campground, bar etc... But we have missed the soul here. We have missed the arhmosphere, we think food is so so for the price you're paying and in our opinion the owners are seriously lacking enthusiasm. Not a single smile, no connection whatsoever. We are not a fan unfortunately...

5,000 pp/on for camping (which includes the national park few of 5,000cfa). Beautiful location and well worth visiting for 3 or 4 nights. I spent a happy week here, meeting great people from all over the world.

Report Check-In

Great and nice Campground. The guys from Zebrabar can also help you arranging the Customs stuff and getting a Passavant (even for vehicles more than 8 years old)

Report Check-In

Lovely setting, but they really cater for tourist not overlanders, they have camping for 5000cfa each, no access to any electricity. A small bungalow is 15000cfa a double, no fan & no electrical points to charge anything. Drinks are a 200% Mark up on Saint Louis prices so is extremely expensive, being an Overlander you are not greeted with the warmest of welcomes either as they assume you will be self sufficient & not use there restaurant & bar. But it is a lovely setting although a little overpriced !!!! There are lots of other options along the peninsula as well but this is one of the better ones.

Report Check-In

Very nice, if you ask you can use the Ramp to maintain your Car from underneath
