Right where the pin says it is! Nice, large meadowy area. It's fairly flat, but there's a slight angle to it, and it's quite rutty from use. You'll almost definitely need something to level your vehicle if you car camp. Very soft, grassy ground for tents. Minimal traffic on the dirt road in, but you can hear road noise from the nearby highways. Not too bad, and if it's windy you can't hear it at all. Not much tree cover in the spot, so great for solar and satellite. Plenty of shade around the edges of the spot, though. No cell reception (T-Mobile). No water around. Good views a short walk down the road, and there's another spot about a mile down the road where it ends. So, if this one's taken, keep going!
Road in was a little rough, but in dry conditions you may not even need 4x4. It's short, too, so while it may be a little unpleasant to drive to, I'd say this spot is big rig friendly. Certainly plenty of space! We could easily have come with two other groups and all fit in this spot.
Report Check-InSpent an awesome night at the exact location of the pin.
I was totally alone for the 16 hours I was there, beside 2 ATVs who went in and then out aroun 6:30 pm. It was absolutly gorgeous, will go there again for sure!
Clean, quiet, just you and nature. (had a very very weak reception, no internet just occasionally 1 bar of reception).
There are some bugs but didn't spray myself with anything and was fine.
No problem to get in with a 2wd but be careful.
Despite the forecast it rained at night quiet a bit and I was terrefied to wake up to being stuck in mud. Luckily eveything was dry enough in the morning, just a few puddles but no problem at all to get out.
Please keep it clean!
Nice meadow. Very private. Slight highway thrum. Road up was rutted up. My 4Runner had no problems. Dry day but still went thru a couple mud holes.
Report Check-Innice quite place. dirt road, during rain will need 4x4. wifi sporadic but slow. can find spots all along the dirt road. another camper adjacent to this spot was already there. no issue. nobody drove thru at night.
Report Check-InGreat spot, super quiet - at around 10am there are some horse tours happening in the surroundings
Report Check-InWe tried to get the spot located first in this road, but it was taken. We found two more turn around spots - one at the end of the road and the other about half way between the fist and last. Nice site with a mix of large holders, trees and a sight view of the sunset. Nobody around. Verizon 1-2 bars.
Report Check-InIt rained two days ago, we barely made it up with our Promaster. Not sure I'd do it again
Report Check-Invery rutted getting in. had a rear wheel drive ford Transit.
Report Check-InSeveral good flat spots with views along this road, some large enough for big rigs.
Report Check-InA quiet spot near Mt Rushmore and Wrinkled Rock. A large flat area with enough space for a couple truck campers or camper and and tents. Good rock and forest views.
Report Check-In2rwd van with a technically skilled driver. It was raining, the road has huge pot holes and lots of mud, but it's really short. We pulled up to the marked spot exactly. Yeah it was super bumpy but this van made it through. Beautiful spot, all green, under trees, grass. No amenities and pretty sure no campfires.
Report Check-InPull into this spot late at night. Bit of rough road going up/down. Handful of small mud spots from rain a few days before. 2wd van with K02’s did fine but would be worried if it rained the day of and could slip off the road. The first grassy spot is big enough for a full size van but wouldn’t recommend RV’s to come up here. Ended up leaving since rain was in the forecast and didn’t want to get stuck in the morning.
Report Check-InGrassy spot just off FS 356. Nice and quiet and pretty easy 4WD dirt road to get here. There are some other options too a little bit farther down the road that are about the same. You can camp beside the main dirt road or travel up a two track up to the top of a knoll at this location with plenty of room for a group to camp.
