Description

This is the trailhead to the Slot Canyons, peek-a-boo and spooky. Beautiful colors in very narrow canyons that you can climb and squeeze through. The road is washboard, no 4wd needed.

The hike through these two canyons (there are two more) is only 5 km, still quite exhausting because of the climbing and the heat. Enjoy!!

Road in was heavy washboard, short sections of sand and dirt. We parked at the upper dry fork trailhead. The loop in was nice, Dry Fork Narrows was a surprise treat and good if you're not comfortable with the scrambling or tight spaces required for peek a boo and spooky.

Drove in last night and the road was rough. Drove out today and they were grating it making it much more comfortable! Not sure how often they grate it, nor how long the effects last but it was much better leaving today. Also looks like they are improving the road at the end going to the slot canyon. 2wd can easily do it. Highly recommend doing these!

awesome hike thru the canyons. go in the morning and bring lots of agua. the descent to the canyons is steep and I'd recommend starting in peek a boo canyon (the one u have to climb up to) then looping over and finishing in spooky to minimize rock scrambling. after u climb up out of peek a boo look for rock Cairns on the hills as these mark the trail to spooky. you'll find out why it's so spooky. check for stormy weather and wear sturdy shoes with ankle support.

rated as: strenuous.

Very cool!!! The slot canyons are beautiful and the hike is so much fun! They both involve a lot of climbing so it is strenuous. Spooky is VERY narrow. They made a new 'road' to the Trailhead so you don't need 4wd or high clearance anymore (but it's still rough)

Incredible trek if you like (very) slot canyons!!!!even if the way is hard to find to arrive to the Peek-a-boo Canyon (we did our own way 😂) ! there are two parkings. You have to stay at the first one if you don't have a high clarance and à 4wd van!! there is a 20-30cm rock step high on the way to go at the second one. There's one mile between the first and the second one.

This is the trailhead to the a slot canyons, peek-a-boo and spooky. One of the best things we saw on our trip. Beautiful colors in very narrow canyons that you can climb and squeeze through. The road is washboard, no 4wd needed. Only the last 2 km need high clearance but you can park before that.
