Description

Gerd, the German owner of the Hostal Zentrum, is a really nice guy and offers a great place in El Mariscal. Big overlanders may encounter problems to enter the entrance gate (2.6m drive in limit) so the spot is for vans and jeeps only. Can also park in front of hotel on weekends as during the week it is prohibited to park on the street between 7AM-7PM.

Price:14 USD

Report Check-In

The location is good, the shower is warm and the internet works well. But the owner a very old German guy should retire. Not welcoming, not sympathetic and it's hard to understand his Spanish. We basically used the showers and the internet and parked my 23 feet RV on the street. Paid 2 dollars to use the showers per person.

Report Check-In

Good location, very hot shower
But bird poop covered all.
worst ever in my life..

Report Check-In

Price still the same, $10 per car and $2pp. Good WiFi. Clean bathroom, tp, hot shower. Parked near gate, still had a lot of bird poop, but probably less than staying near the back tree. Near many restaurants and bars.

Report Check-In

Everything is tip-top :) there’s WiFi, kitchen, hot shower, roofgarden and a computer you can use for free. We stayed one night and had almost no bird poop on our car. We parked right next to the gate, because in the back of the yard there are more birds in the trees. during the day the street is quite noisy but after 9pm traffic calms down and we had no problems sleeping in the car with windows open.

Report Check-In

Very central place. Good hot shower. Wc, kitchen and 220V ! We paid 14$/night for 2. Bird poop everywhere in our van!

Report Check-In

Very central location, lots to see and do in walking distance. Only downside: We had bird poop all over our car and rooftop tent when we left.

Report Check-In

very nice, hot showing, kitchen, clean room

Report Check-In

A very good place to spend some days in Quito. You can easy reach the Teleferico and the Historic Center by bus. Clean Toilet and hot Shower. Gerd, the german owner, is 87 years old and looks like 65. He is a very nice guy, showed us his really nice hotel. It is also very recommended for backpackers or bikers. We stood in the backyard very safe, in the night it is a bit noisy because it is near the street. Highly recommended for cars under 2,60 m.

Report Check-In

We were here but had to leave, no Dogs allowed.
Alter Grießgramm :)

Report Check-In

good location in the heart of the city, you can walk into the old town and the party area of Plaza Foch. place is very clean and the sun terrace is nice to hang out. there's a computer for guests, fast wifi, the best hot shower we had in months and not at least the absolutely unique hostel owner gerd (87 years old) who alone would be enough of a reason to stay here... highly recommended.

Report Check-In

I had the cheapest room for 15US. It was furnished well( built- in safe), had a private bathroom with a splendid hot shower, a writing desk and bright reading lamps. Everything is well designed and organized. I also saw the slightly more expensive rooms and was impressed. Gerd takes care of every guest. I was given maps and lots of information.

Report Check-In

Gerd the german owner and Marc, his german employe had been very friendly and helpful! Marc helped me to orgaganise my trip to galapagos. He also walked the city with me to get my german gas bottle filled. Gerd give inormation about what is going on in town and told me how to get there. Shower is hot and it is a very clean place. Highly recomendet!
Gerd and Marc, keep on going!!

Report Check-In

We slept in the hostel for two nights as our car was at the mechanics. We had a very comfortable room including big bedroom and bathroom with hot shower. We paid 45usd including a very good breakfast. Gerd also gave as some advice where to go in the city and he gave us a city map. We liked the place.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay for a few days in Mariscal. uS$7pppn (or $5 to leave the car as we did for a few days).
Shower was very hot!! Careful! Bathroom near parking is OK, they have a small kitchen in the back. WiFi was good (it was down one day but the manager fixed very fast!). A bit noisy but with earplugs is OK

Report Check-In

Nice place to spend a few days in Quito. Shops, supermarket and restaurants nearby. city centre within walking distance (30 min). Really hot shower!

Report Check-In

Best place to camp in middle of Quito. There are a lot of restaurants and bars at Plaza Foch (10 minutes walking distance). The city center is only at 25 minutes walking distance or you can take the bus. Breakfast costs 5$ but is absolutely great! WIFI is super fast. It has a lot of street noise but that can not be avoided in the city. We payed 7$ per people per night.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay in Quito. Close to the Party- and Restaurantcenter Plaza Foch. The Busstation to get to the old town is also just two Blocks away (Bus costs 25 Cents). Electricity 110 and 220V available. Hot showers and fast WiFi included. Yes it is a bit noisy during the day and in the morning. But of course, it is in the middle of Ecuadors capital City. We enjoyed the stay in our small van as well as everything Gerd told us. He turns 87 and is a very nice guy.

Report Check-In

Oui, un très bel emplacement en plein centre ville de Quito. Nous avons payé 10 $ pour notre JEEP aménagé et 2 $ pp pour la nuit. Bel accueil du gérant avec toutes les commodités (douches, Wc, petite cuisine..) 👌🏾🙂

Report Check-In

Everything is written down. You can even use his public dining-room to eat inside if there is no breakfast or lunchtime. It's a perfect place to stay in Quito. Thank dou Gerd and keep going on a long time.

Report Check-In

Very nice owner, and all in all very functional place. Great WiFi at the camp and the hot shower deserves it's name. Gerd was happy to help us out with some informations and tips, since we needed to sort out some stuff in Quito.

Report Check-In

German run hostal with space for 2-3 not too big vehicles. Height limit about 2.40 m. Hot shower, wifi, 220V, next to noisy road. USD 14 (2 adults, camper).

Report Check-In

To gijoe_exlax, it's hardly the fault of the owner if there is traffic noise and dumpster divers outside their property - you are camping in the heart of the largest city in Ecuador. I wonder what you propose the owner do to rectify the noise issues for you? The price is consistent at $10 per camper, and $2pp (so $14 a day for 2 people and a 4runner). We are absolutely thrilled to find this place, and stayed longer then planned. It's an oasis in the city, with absolutely everything a camper needs. Kitchen, WiFi, great hot showers, electricity (220 and 110), cold beer, public transport and shops nearby, place to handwash and dry laundry, shade cover from trees... Everything. Gerd was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure we knew where everything was, and to give us info about getting around the city.

One note - the city isn't safe at night, and in certain areas during the day. Check with locals before you go exploring too far, and always take licensed taxis at night.

Report Check-In

We could park our car during the Galapagos Trip for 5$/night. great stay and amazing owner! if there is place you can rent a room for 10$person/night. the brakfastbuffet is delicious with fresh bread, Müsli, egg, Cheese, ham. ..

Hostal Zentrum....near the Mariscal district, give us a comfortable possibility to stay in the heart of Quito....and sleep in our loved Hilux.
Gerd, the Boss of the Hostel, keeps everything in perfect shape. The parking place has it own toilet with really the best hot shower so far in ecuador !
There is a small, but full function kitchen you can use. We have eaten our own prepared meals in the Outdoor Restaurant / Hotel area, wich is allowed, and so you want get wet.
Not to forget: the wifi is perfect and reaches your campervan !!
Nice Host, supernice place....for us the perfect base to visit Quito !!!!
yes, there is traffic noise....but with earplugs from the big ferreteria KWIQ nearby....no problem !!!
Thank you Gerd...wish you that you get 100 years old...not so far away !

Report Check-In

A good place to stay close to Quito old town and do sightseeing. Gerd and Frank very helpful, outside shower for campers was not enough but they attended promptly. Best breakfast we have had in weeks with fresh rolls, fruit, juice, coffee, eggs etc. If you sleep inside your van the roadnoise may not bother you, if you camps in atent it may bother - but the place has too many advantages. Lavanderias and bakery 50m away, entertainment area with many restaurants 2 blocks. We had a good time and can recommend.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay near the new town. Gerd and Frank are very friendly and helpful. WiFi is great. 14USD

Report Check-In

Very pleasant stay. Excellent location. German owner and friends are extremely helpful. Good place to stay if you are riding a motorcycle or truck/camper because parking is safe and secure within premises. clean, hot showers, wifi is fast, nice terrace, cheap beers. All around an excellent place to stay close to all the best spots in the city.

Report Check-In

Unfortunately we have to leave the first bad review in 10 months of using ioverlander. Hot water wasn't working our first night, street and traffic noise next to camping area made it hard to sleep, when the traffic died down in the street bums would dig through the dumpster on the opposite side of the fence. The old german owner was cold and unfriendly and tried to charge us double for our stay. the other staff are helpful and compassionate.

Report Check-In

Very German place. Fine place to stay. Only fits a few cars.

Report Check-In

Agree all with last person. Gerd and Frank super helpful and great place for small vans. Central location to eating, coffee places and shops. Left our van while we went on Amazon $5 per night and $14 for 2 + vehicle per night. Busy road but quiet overnight. Clean toilets and hot shower. Would certainly recommend

Report Check-In

Frank and Gert were super accommodating especially considering that we barely fit our ford van in the space because there were other campers present. But they made it work and were happy to have us stay.

Report Check-In

Nothing special about this place. You can park the car (10 USD) or camp (5 USD) on the dirt besides the actual hostel. There is no garden besides the beer garden. It's really noisy during the day and still quite noisy during night time. On top of the fee for car/tent you have to pay 2 USD per person. Very fast internet and hot showers. Kitchen very small.

Report Check-In

Great place, friendly German owners, clean, fast internet, hot water, prices vary from 10$ p/person for a bunk bed with private bathroom to $99 for the suite. 30min walking to the old city or 5 min by bus, safe parking

$24 night for double private room with bath. Very secure motorcycle parking. Left bikes here when we went on Amazon tour and our gear. All very safe and secure. Gerd and Frank are fantastic. Gracious and helpful hosts. Breakfast is good, $5 per person. Camping is an option here. We loved our stay and highly recommend.

The was great and so were the prices. $10 for car & $2 per person to camp. $10 per person for a room. We didn't fit through the gate with our 2.63 m high camper. We could stay in front of the hostel (only possible on weekends and public holidays). Gerd (very friendly) gave us a key to enter the showers and the toilets all the time. Further he has electricity (220 and 110 V) available even outside of his hostel. We paid USD 5 per night.

Report Check-In

Nice Place, sympathic owner. The maximum height to enter the ground is 2,60m so we had to take off our our topbox. Good wifi, electricity, nice bathrooms, kitchen and beergarden! 7$ p/P per night (2$ pP and 10$ for the car) absolutely worth it. Perfect surroundings, there are panaderia, laundries, supermarkets and places to go out at night right around the corner!

Report Check-In
