Latest Check-Ins

Down a sketchy long dirt road, but it’s worth it! The campground is so cute, bring what you need because it’s a pain to get down the road! Road is manageable, just rough in a couple spots! AT&T service isn’t the best, one bar mostly!

Report Check-In

Water: potable at your own discretion.
Firewood: plentiful.
Bugs: mosquitoes are bountiful. Lots of Spanish Moss so watch for chiggers and ticks as well.
Rig Room: plenty of space.
Camp Space: Big sites.
Local Law Enforcement: Some state troopers along the highway on the way in. Forest Service did a loop maybe 15 min after we got here. Never stopped. No harassment.
Portable toilets: dirty, but not nasty. (there is a difference)
Signs mention poisonous plants, bears, gators, and snakes. Be mindful and respectful of the wildlife.
road has a few potholes and maybe exceptionally rough after a heavy rain. One of the locals asked about the road condition on our way in.

12ish sites. Quiet, Clean. river access for launching boats/fishing. portapotties & dump station. down a couple of miles of decent gravel road. self-serve tag to sign in, Closed during general gun season. would stay again, plan to stay at least a few days just because it's so far out of the way down gravel. First of Feb, half sites were occupied.

Report Check-In

As described by others. The road in is about 7 miles, about 2/3 of which is dirt with potholes. Lots of gnats flying around. The site itself was great, very secluded with enough separation between sites. Boat ramp with easy access to the river.

This place was absolutely gorgeous and peaceful until the weekend. There were probably 3 of us there, beautiful spot by the river, gorgeous scenery. The weekend the place completely changed and filled with people. There was a church youth group in the campsite next to us (they were supposed to be in the reserved group site located in the very back of the campground down a gated side road but it looked like they sent the girls up front) and they were actually quite loud and disrespectful and kept walking through our campsite. There is a rule that says no more than ten people (there was about 15) other than in the group sites and this is probably why... there are also porta potties (not pit toilets) that filled up completely and were pretty much unusable. (Probably another reason the large groups are supposed to stay in the back- they had their own porta potties back there) Lots of day traffic in and out and lots of people coming to use the boat ramp. To be fair it was the first weekend of spring break so it may not usually be this crowded. The road in is okay- dirt with lots of potholes but it’s fine if you take it slow. Not bad, I would definitely stay again but maybe avoid it on busy holiday/ school break weekends.

We stayed here overnight and it was almost all empty. We took our spot and loved it. We cooked, took our yorkie for a run and we slept like a baby. We will definitely come back.

Report Check-In

We were heading there, but saw that on their website camping is NOT ALLOWED during the Aucilla Wildlife Management Area GENERAL GUN SEASON (11/02/20 - 01/19/21), so we went to the Aucilla boat ramp instead. I am adding their website for reference.

Nice, Quiet, oak Shaded camp, at end of maintained dirt road. Picnic tables, trash cans, clean porta-johns. Boat ramp to river, Verizon 2 bars LTE. Stay FREE up to 10 days. About 12 sites first come first serve. Fill out a permit slip at kiosk. Bugs weren’t awful but definitely bring bug spray as it is Florida and there is standing water.

Coordinates are incorrect and site is actually 1mi past the pin. This site has reopened since reported vandalism. Currently closed for hunting season, but reopening Jan 20th. Looked like a nice spot with several sites, porta poties, trash, right by the river. Minimal Verizon 4G signal.

Also several pulloffs along the road to get here.
