Place is very quiet near Cueva de Manos.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Lonely place.
No animals.
The wind stopped at 9pm.
No cars/sounds between 9pm-8am!
Just a tip fot those with a front driven vehicle: Don't use this road. we came from Cueva de las manos and tried it. We had to drive backwards up the gravel road because forwards it did not work. Finally we made it, but would not do it again. If you got a proper vehicle it is absolutely scenic.
Report Check-InCool spot even if it is very visible from the road. We saw 3 cars during all the evening and one in the morning so it was quiet enough. Lots of guanacos were grazing around and we saw plenty of birds. Breathtaking stars in the night but it got very cold (ice on the car in the morning)
Report Check-InNot a bad place. Pretty windy but died down at night. Yup, there are still dead guanacos.
Report Check-InVery nice spot. Protected from wind, nice view on the canyon and amazing stars at night. A few dead guanacos around but nothing too bothering.
Report Check-InGreat camping spot, not really sure what Smart as a Goose is talking about. You can camp right at this GPS position, or take the road deeper into the canyon. Perhaps is risky to leave the trail at all in the wet season, we saw some scars from cars being stuck.

Report Check-InStayed here for one night. Very quiet. Protection from wind if it's not blowing up the canyon. Noticed a few dead Guanacos in the area but was able to park far enough away from them. Puma kills?
Report Check-Injust an overnight parking spot with a little bit more wind protection.
Report Check-Inthis is the right spot and the gps pos. is also right. It's only a road site stop beside the gate into the canyon. It's always windy here, but we could find 300 m further into the cancon a little bit better spot at pos. s47.22028. w70.79230 . My advise..... drive to the cave early at the day .......drive out again and find a better spot during the day on your way to the nord or south.
Report Check-InWe cannot find this place. The camp at these coordinates is a road side pull out. The road through the gate loops though a canyon back to the main road. No meadow, wind protection, or level spot to be found. But we did find the grasshoppers!
Report Check-InSomewhat sheltered from the wind but still exposed. Scenic spot away from the main road. When we arrived there were flamingos bathing in the water near the gate.
Edit: this morning we woke up to find thousands of grasshoppers under and around the car, and crawling over all the vegetation and rocks. I thought this was great, Laura hated it!
Report Check-InDon't take advice from KB. This route is perfectly suitable for 2WD vehicles of all kinds including our rear wheel drive camper van! The only other route to the 40 is via Bajo which is a very long way in the wrong direction if you wish to travel to or from the north. The canyon is beautiful and provides shelter from the relentless wind.
Report Check-InBeautiful, tranquilo campsite with minimal wind and infinite stars. Not another vehicle passed all night.
Report Check-InNice place to spend the night but if you have a heavy 2wd vehicle you may want to consider the alternate route to Ruta 40. The grade of the hills is extremely steep and the gravel is very loose.
Report Check-InVery windy when we were here with winds shooting between the canyon walls. But, a really beautiful place especially if you follow the tracks after the gate all the way in to the end. There is a meadow surrounded by vertical walls with some bolted climbs right at the meadow. More climbing further in by foot. Amazing place.
Report Check-InGood quiet spot, free. Lots of wild animals around to sit back and watch. No facilities but awesome views of the canyon. Good spot to camp for just a night before heading to the Cueva de las manos
Report Check-InPerfect for our first night in Argentina! Wind free and very quiet..... Free
