Description

grassy camping area next to the aque blue river with access to Las nubes. $20pp to enter the area, free camping and access for as long as you want.

entrance to this place from the 307 is between Maravillas and Santo Domingo down a gravel road, there's a sign. 2wd and large rigs are fine unless it's rainy season.

we tried going to Las nubes through the other area but locals blocked the road and demanded $100 to pass on top of the normal fees. this takes you to the same place and there's a suspension bridge over the river to see Las nubes

20 p/p for the village acess and they charge us 200p for our stay ( they don't really care about the number of day we stay) because we got the front water spot. local until sunset and more than quiet at night. we were able to fit our 40ft school bus by the river

Report Check-In

Still free to camp here and no charge to enter the little village. It’s a forested area right on the river. Very quiet at night. We were the only ones there so a little eerie, but totally safe. The gravel road out here is easy in a 2wd. I would not recommend this spot for big rigs.
Definitely recommend driving 2kms further down the road to the walking bridge to see the waterfalls and then doing the circuit 1.5 km hike on the opposite side of the river. The restaurant on the other side was also really yummy!

Report Check-In

Great spot to camp or take a bath. The river is really beautiful. You can camp (tent or car) close to the river. Some locals come here to play, swim, do laundry or camp. Nice sunset and sunrise on the river. The night was really quiet.

Report Check-In

No rope tolls to get out here and the dirt road is in great shape. Super quiet night. We were all alone and hanging out with just the bugs at night. No mosquitos in the daytime in May. Nobody there to charge us anything either in the evening or the morning. We picked up a trash bag full of garbage. Always trying to leave it better than we found it. Beautiful place. Easy to drive down the rest of the dirt road to the footbridge over to the falls. Walk the loop trail. It’s worth it! Had lunch at the restaurant and walked around the falls. Amazing falls all over the place.

Stay here 1 night, very safe and quiet. beautiful spot.

Report Check-In

It's a beautiful spot really close to Las Nubes. We really recommend doing the 1580m hike right after the bridge on the right, it gives a much bigger view of Las Nubes than the one next to the restaurant. Be careful for snakes, we saw one next to the rocks when you go down to the waterfall. Also at night you can see fireflies everywhere!

Beautiful camping spot just along the turquoise river. Felt safe and it was quiet. Locals come by during the day to swim or do laundry. We drove to the swinging bridge. beautiful waterfall! Free from this side and you pass a cute little village.

Report Check-In

Nice spot but impossible word 2wd if was raining. 2km from cascadas

Report Check-In

Spend one night here and felt safe. It’s free and you don’t have to pay anything to see the waterfall.
From the campground you can go by foot or with the car and follow the road for 2km and go to the bridge while enjoying the waterfall.
When we were here, the ground was a bit muddy because of the rain so the big rig couldn’t go to the nice grass area but they parked just before and it was fine.
There is a tap to refill the water next to a pit toilet but you need a very long hose as it is quite far.
No cell reception.

spend the night, as said before easy access road, not really fit for big RV, no problem during rainy season with a 2wd, also drove to the bridge, easy road, went to the lodge nobody there had a little walk around. waterfall in rainy season is in full power, no possibility to swim but still an amazing scene!

Report Check-In

Spent 2 nights here. Friendly locals throughout the day and evening coming to swim or do laundry. Quiet at night though. Water is refreshing and surprisingly cold for the end of May. Lots of bugs at night, but not so much during the day. No one collecting money on our way in/out of town. Walked to Las Nubes (30-minute 1 way) across the suspension bridge. Felt safe. There are a few small tiendas in town but stock up before you come. Lots of trees so Starlink was spotty. Would stay again!

Feel free to reach out with questions.

Nice spot right next to the river. Great for swimming.
When we arrived there were about 60locals enjoying the spot. A little intimidated, we squeezed in with our large truck and did hit some branches. Everyone was super friendly though!

Locals left before sunset and we had a very quiet night.

Report Check-In

Great place to (wild) camp, right along the river. Locals are hanging out during the day (until 17h). Very quiet. Locals told us it was very safe. No facilities (except maybe a very old toilet-shed, but we didn’t dare look inside). To get here, take the 5km-gravel road from the 307 with a sign pointing to zacualtipan (no entrance fees as opposed to Las Nubes). Road is in good condition.
From the campsite, you can follow the dirt road further on to get to the walking bridge and Las nubes (2 km). Hike up to the viewing point starts after you cross the walking bridge, stunning viewpoint.

Report Check-In

We spend 2 nights here very calm, some children in the day until 16h after they all left, no one in the morning. We went to Las nubes by foot it's 25min and after that the bridge and the beautiful mirador and waterfall.
It's rains a little the first day but the water stayed blue.
No facilities
Beautiful spot deverses a stop.

This may have been a established campground in the past, but it’s open and free now. No services though. Newer toilets are closed. There is still a usable very abandoned open old toilet, with a curtain. Locals come to enjoy the river. Super friendly people. Super safe too. River was brown because of the rains. It’s clear blue from February to April, according to them.

Report Check-In

Great free spot on the river. Lots of locals bathing until sunset on a weekday, totally quiet after. Recommend accessing Las Nubes from this side via the suspension bridge, as it'll save you from paying any entrance fees !

Report Check-In

We wanted to camp here, but the entrance road was blocked with a rope, sign and rocks clearly stating that they don't want people entering with cars there (used the GPS coordinates from the last entry). We drove down until the end of the road where the hanging bridge to the other camping is and parked there to see las nubes and do the hike on the other side of the bridge. We went further to camping paraiso for the night and enjoyed it there, but it's a 20km detour.

very nice free spot!
beautiful turquoise river, welcoming local peoples.
but actually if you want to access here, you need to turn left a little bit before this point. (we had to make a U turn to come back here)
you can park big RV, the gravel road from the 307 to here is not large and can be bumpy, but doable.

Report Check-In

We could enter this way and didn’t find it immediately but drove a little further in and found locals swimming and stayed there. We didn’t have to pay anything and a local said it is safe.

So you go over the river while still on the 307 and while entering you see a sign but it doesn’t say “Las Nubes”. The signs to Las Nubes on the 307 we ignored.

Report Check-In

We tried today but there is a construction zone on the dirt road. A car could have passed on the side in the mud but we didn't dare with our 7m Rv
