Something not right?

Description

Lovely simple cottages and a restaurant right on the lake shore. The owner let us camp with our truck camper in the garden with a lovely view of the lake & sunset. Use of flush toilets (with TP) and showers and Wifi for 70 Pesos/ person. No electricity at tent sights. Two vans had an extension cord running from the bathroom. WiFi a bit slow but functional. Owners are super nice.

cold showers. 100/ person.....................

They wanted to charge us 200 pesos per night with a 19ft van. We managed to agree on 150 without electricity which is still a bit steep.
The place is a bit on a slope and not that secluded. There are huts and the restaurant right next to the camping area.
The other campground down the road might be more chill but we didn’t try.
Warm water in the shower doesn’t work. Wifi is ok.
Maybe we had high expectations regarding the previous comments.
The walk over to Guatemala is very cool though! Lots of little souvenir shops and a few waterfalls to explore.

met up with our friend @brookebeyond here for a night. what a wonderful place right on the lake and the border.

you can walk across the border into Guatemala without passport control and eat/drink/shop at the little village.

this spot is clean and beautiful and they take really good care of it.

Report Check-In

Such a wonderful campsite right on the lake! A few basic but tasty restaurants nearby, plus you can walk across the border into Guatemala and check out the little market.

We negotiated 200p for 3 nights in our self-contained van. Wifi is dismal, but enough to send and receive the occasion message, so definitely better than nothing! Such nice people who own the place, and the little restaurant onsite will even deliver food to your campsite, which is really lovely at night. So many fireflies!!

Report Check-In

Great spot to camp near the lake and walk over to Guatemala for some different beers and Rum!
Managed to get the spot for 100pesos, they might try to charge 150 if you are a bigger rig.

Really big rigs can enter going towards the water and back around to the camp spot

Report Check-In

Definitely the best value for money campground we had so far! We paid in total 100 pesos (2 persons in a camper), stood directly by the beautiful lake and had access to hot showers, toilets with TP and wifi (didn't work but we could have asked them to reset the router I guess). The owner family is extremely nice and the kids adorable! Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

Nice place with a view of the lake, few places because it's too wet on the meadow. We were allowed to
use the toilets and shower. Right on the border with Guatemala.

Perfect and calm, direct on the lake with clean toilets and a restaurant with good food. Very friendly people and for a resonable price of 100 pesos for 2 people in an RV. The colored lakes around are beautiful. Highly recommend.

Report Check-In

They charged us 50pp. Nice grassy spot and views of the lake.

Report Check-In

Nice spot, noisy people from the US but I guess we just weren't lucky!

About 8 Nice Cabanas, not sure of the price.
We tent camped for 70/pesos / person.
Toilets, cold showers, WiFi. Right on the lake. Well manicured grass and a few fire pits.

Very nice owners.

Report Check-In

As described and open now in Oct20 after most of the hype of the pandemic. We paid 50 pesos per person.
Showers are warm and good toilets with TP - no seat cover tho.
Took a tuktuk to the trailhead and back for 60 pesos.

Report Check-In

We had a night away from the van in the cabaña. It was lovely with a short good hot shower and we ate the specialty in their restaurant for 80 pesos p.p. It is very different from other Mexican specialties. Top!

Report Check-In

Really nice place. 100 Pesos for two people in a motorhome, including hot showers, wifi and electricity. Only one site has a power outlet! Friendly staff. The Restaurant was OK.

Report Check-In

Agree with everything posted: very kind host, clean bathrooms, warm shower, beautiful view, plenty of room for our pup to run around, easy walk over to Guatemala (tons of vendors selling souvenirs). 150p for 2 people and a dog.

Report Check-In

As described. Really friendly host. Beautiful spot on the water with a view of Guatemala! Pretty chilly but perfect for hiking. Caught a tuk tuk in town to the trailhead to 5 Lagos and walked back to camp.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, clean toilets, hot shower, average Wi-Fi and great view.
100 pesos for 2 people in a van.

Report Check-In

Probably a lovely spot but it was in dense cloud the whole time we were here. Cold (11C) and rainy is apparently typical for this time of year. Friendly hosts. Restaurant food was normal Mexican stuff. 100pesos for two people in a truck. Good wi-fi.

Report Check-In

Really lovely spot right next to the lake. Very clean toilets and showers. Decent WiFi. There is a restaurant (though we didn’t try it.) We paid 150 (2 people for 2 nights). We parked along the little fence line in front of the Reception (close to the WiFi router).

Report Check-In

we stayed for 3 nights and negotiated $25pp. We went to the corner of their property on a large grassy area away from the cabins and had the whole area to ourselves. Great place with awesome views and a very quick walk away from the Guatemala borderless zone where we would go get Guatemalan food and beers
