Description

Outside of the gate, but there is a guard inside all night. Grassy field, near the road but really calm at night. Trees to put your hammock. Great place for 1 night, better than the playground (other overlander spot).

We stayed here over night. We asked the friendly guard that was happy to help us and even showed us the best place to park, under the light just by his window. The place is open from 5am to 9pm (may close earlier if no one is around).
The night was quiet until 5am when the first locals arrived to take a swimm (laud motorcycles and music), but only stayed for about 30min, after that it was quiet again til 8am.
The facilities are available within opening hours, the entrance is still free.

Feel very safe here, this will be our first free camp in Guatemala! This is a state sponsored, completely free, facility with a soccer pitch, running track, lap pool, basketball courts, simple weight room and park space. It closes at 9pm and reopens at 5am.

When we asked to sat the night we asked for how long....which didn't make sense. Apparently someone stayed here for 20 days. PLEASE don't abuse these nice free spaces by making them your new home. We almost lost the privilege to stay here altogether.

nice spot for one night.
the guard said here are sometimes people for camping.
quiet at night. no flies. no mosquitos.
in the morning another guy came to us and said we can use the showers and toilets.

Report Check-In

Great find! We asked the guards who were really relaxed if a little confused and also showed us the toilets said we were free to use them. Even used the running track in the morning free of charge. Felt safe here.
