Description

This is an abandoned established campground. The property appears to have been abandoned decades ago but the actual campsites remain. Just follow the road past the Dome and there are plenty to choose from.

As described. Nice and quiet but still very close to the main road

I was able to carefully drive my 23ft Class C down the little driveway to this excellent campsite. There is a walkway to the amazing cave paintings, which should not be missed. At one point a Jeep of military guys zoomed in to the dome, brandishing machine guns (!), only to jump back in and leave without bothering me. Great hiking, set back from highway. Recommended.

Second day here, we walked the whole length of the road until it terminated. If you drive halfway down the road into the wash, you’ll find yourself with an INCREDIBLE palm tree oasis campsite, near an abandoned house. The scenery is unreal as is the hiking!

Many places to camp after the dome if you drive north on the sand track. Some well hidden from the highway, wind sheltered.
The whole place must have been touristic like 10 years ago, now everything looks abandonned.
Quiet day and night.
Please take your trash with you.
Enjoy this beautiful place!

Spot just north of the cave paintings. There is a sign for a museum and camping. Short, nicely groomed trails run behind an abandoned dome. A road leads to the left through an open gate with some possible camping options. Didn't stay here.
