Latest Check-Ins

We passed today (wednesday 2pm). There were policemen but did not check on either side...

Report Check-In

Since we come actually from Brazil, we didn't do the paperstuff for our dog.

This is the second time in Peru for us with our dog - back then from Ecuador North to South and had no problems getting through without import papers. We weren't checked here either.

This time from Brazil we had the first control about 100km after the border and were almost sent back. However, since all vaccinations and parasite treatments were up to date, we were finally able to drive on.

That's why we didn't want to risk it again here and in case someone feels the same:

There is a super nice road through the hills, driveable for all vehicles and you bypass this point. We have marked the street with a "star", it can also be seen on Google when you zoom in.
(North to South: 36B till Malcomayo, turn left, over Inchupalla. Slightly south of Chucuito you reach the 3S).

Report Check-In

Saturday evening (05:00 PM) heading towards Bolivia. We were standing over an hour in the queue, nothing happened. At 06:00 PM the traffic goes on. No co Teil. Nada. Don’t understand why we stood here over an hour

Report Check-In

there were persons, but no control on our way out of peru

Report Check-In

They are pretty uptight about pets. We entered Peru from the north and did not check our dog in as there was no one there to do it (La Balsa). Someone checked her rabies vaccine and that was it. 3 months later going through this checkpoint they stopped and asked if we had a pet, which we do obviously. Lots of questions and discussing why we don't have Peru paperwork for her. We showed them all our paperwork for her vaccines and health cert from Ecuador. They let us go as we did not do anything wrong, but it took some time and patience. So, if coming from Bolivia, I would make sure your paperwork is in order.

Report Check-In

Stopped on our way back in from Bolivia.

As we are planning to return to Bolivia in a few weeks, we didn't bother with the pet paperwork, as the first time we entered Peru the SANASA was shut and we were let in without documents.

They asked to see the pet paperwork (which we didn't have) and after a lengthy discussion, explaining that we needed to return in two weeks to take our cat to a vet and her let us pass.
