Report Check-In

We went here to restart our TIP after being out of the country for 3 months. They said they no longer do that in this office and said we need to go to Plaza Corchen Aduana on the way to the airport.

Came here to extend our TIP. All as described. Aduana office in a rough(er) industrial part of town. Not much parking out front. Staff not the friendliest but got the job done. NOTE: You cannot get insurance here, you need to go to the Seguros office on 50th street which is also marked on iOverlander.

Everything below is accurate.
Wear or bring long pants.
Got here at 8 to start it all but the jefa didn’t arrive until 9:15 to sign the paperwork. It’s a Friday … maybe just a slow morning lol.

Also Google maps location is slightly off — the location here on ioverlander is right.

Everything as described. Copies cost 2 dollars, and they refused to renew it last week. Must wait until 3 days before expiring.

You need to come here if you want to leave the country without your vehicle. Very friendly staff . Took less than 5 minutes.

Info below still good. Saw a sign on a wall saying going around in short pant and sleeveless shirt is forbidden. $2 for all the photocopies. About 45 minutes. Friendly enough people I speak Spanish so it was probably much easier because of that.
Near Albrook metro station (yes, I didn’t go with the motorbike, they never asked for it).

Report Check-In

Extended our TIP today took 45 minutes. Although they processed us we were told to wear long trousers on our next visit.

Quick and easy process. Passport, vehicle docs and insurance required. Letter (as mentioned below) is no longer required. They now have a pre-printed letter-form, you just fill in the blank spaces and sign. Whole thing took 15 mins, friendly guy but very strict on timing - refused to do the extension more than 2-3 days before expiry.

For TIP extension the hours are 8am - 3:15pm.

Report Check-In

Aduana location is off. It is across the street, on the east side. Need to leave your license to get in. Finding exact window inside is difficult. Down a hall and, then R, L, L and a little down on the right, after the photocopy window is place to extend TIP, Control Vehicular.
You need original and two copies of passport, title and new insurance. You also need a letter (in Spanish) requesting extension. Luckily there is a photocopy service down the hall (25 cents a copy) and luckily, Felipe, who speaks English, offered to write it for me. Had to wait a while as the person who had to sign a form was in a meeting. Took 45 minutes.

Report Check-In

We needed to extend our TIP period since shipping would be after expiration date. Friendly guard took us straight to right desk, young staff man quickly wrote our required 'letter' saying we wanted to extend. He quickly processed the paperwork, walked us to the next stop, retrieved the papers, showed us where to get copies made and of what forms, ($.75 for three copies), and quickly completed our forms and handed us a new TIP. He also spoke English. Entire process took 30 minutes. If extending, no need for anyone to look at vehicle so we took taxi to/from so wouldn't have to brave Panama traffic any more than necessary.

Come here for all your aduana needs. If you need to pay impuetos for importing a car into Panama (including trying to sell a foreign registered car which needs to be imported) or for us, having a Panamanian registered car we need a form called a "Sarpe" to enable us to leave the country. However be warned: prepare to have your soul sucked dry by these people. They will completely ignore you for great swathes of time with an arrogance I'm not sure I've ever seen before. The grumpy guy with the moustache asked us for a note from the country we come from as he has a collection - unfortunately we didn't have one and he has ignored us since. One guy said he brought donuts!
