Latest Check-Ins

Campsite closed, but the bathroom is still open (if you need a bathroom or some water)

Report Check-In

Closed now!
We stayed here for one night, in the morning the rangers came and asked us to leave because they will close the camping for the season (25.03.24).
Nice spot though, although no electricity and very cold showers.

Report Check-In

We tried to park here, but all campsites of Parque Pumalin are closed since March 15th.

Report Check-In

This place was PACKED when I‘ve been there. Was a nice atmosphere, but no more space for tents whatsoever. I’ve seen another campground not far away (south) the next day, so for those looking for solitude, that might be a better option.

Report Check-In

6000pp collected sometime between 8-10 in the morning after. Not a lot of communal space for tents and the showers are extremely cold, so I went swimming in the lower waterfall instead : ) The location is great as it's close to three senderos.

6000pppn. CONAF llega entre las 8 y 10 para cobrar. No hay mucho espacio comunal para carpas y las duchas son de agua helado. Fui a la cascada baja para bañarme : ) Está cerca a tres senderos.

Report Check-In

camping now open. all else as mentioned before. enjoy

Report Check-In

Wonderful campsite, very quiet, clean and nice spots. We didn't see any ranger but would have been happy to pay for such a lovely spot. We didn't use the public bathroom.

Report Check-In

this Camping is closed a the Moment! some problems with the septic system. but there where still 7 tents who stayed there overnight. a Ranger came in the morning and told everyone to leave.

Report Check-In

They have communal spaces, bunch of tents in the grass with one kiosk with tables to share; price per person is 6,000. Then, the private sites are 16,000 (for site, not person) - they come with your own kiosk and a space to park your car. The kiosk in the private sites is nice to have but it would only fit 1 small tent under the roof, there’s some more flat ground enough for another tent. Bathrooms are shared for everyone.

Report Check-In

We came here by the Somalco night ferry (2AM from Hornopiren, first ferry arrive at 5:30, drive for a while until you reach the second ferry and arrive around 7:00) we were asked to pay from staff but we told them we weren’t staying, and then we didn’t have to pay.

Clean toilets (V on the left is for men, B on the right is for women), clean water to wash your dishes, and did not use but cold shower available as well.

The walk to the waterfalls start here, 2 beautiful waterfalls. 5km there and back. It took us about 2.5 hours.

Report Check-In

The camper site is open since a feew weeks.

Report Check-In

Open in high season. Can get very full after the ferry from north arrives...

Report Check-In

The campsite is open during the summer season. Very nice and well maintained campsite. Toilets, wastbins, cold showers. $6.000 pp in communal place and $16.000 for a private place with shelter incl. table. From the campsite there is a very nice walk (1.5 - 2 hours / 6km) to two waterfalls. About 1.5km north on route 7 there is also a nice short walk (700m) to have a look at the giant Alerces trees of over 3.000 years old.

Report Check-In

Still closed, but toilets and water ist Open. Looks very nice.

Report Check-In

Nice sites. Filled up by lunch time. Private sites 16000

Report Check-In

As of December, the campgrounds in Parque Pumalín are closed (not sure if it's still due to COVID or if they're just not yet open for the season). There's a rope across the entrance.

Bathrooms are still open and water is turned on.

Report Check-In

Clean showers and toilets. A spot where you can put tent up under covered roof is 16000 pesos per tent. On campground 6000 per person.

Report Check-In

only cold showers. nice bathrooms and facilities in general. good for couple of days. nothing to buy food so you have to carry plenty from hornopiren. the shelters are very good, near the two hikes for alerces and waterfalls. recommended.

Report Check-In

Sendero cascadas escondidas 1,5 hr aprox. Señalizado todo el camino.

Report Check-In

Open - although no one collected money. Beautiful campground even for big rigs. Very clean and well maintained. Hikes starting directly at the campground. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Open now though no one came to collect any money.

Report Check-In

Closed off with a chain, probably because it’s low season now.

Report Check-In

This was closed when we came past. It had "peligro" tape across the entrance. we continued to the next campsite which was fine.

Report Check-In

very clean campground. to tidy for me^^
because no possibility to make a fire to cook. therefore didn't stay
beside that it seams to be fine

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite with a sharing area or private area with a shelter and a table. Very clean. It was free because its gonna be a conaf national parc. Amazing trails near the campsite (cold jungle and huge alerces)

Report Check-In

We stayed for 2 nights to do some hiking from here, very well located in the center of the park. We were in our campervan and found a leveled place to stay. Not suitable for large campers.

Report Check-In

Very nice campsite. Some sites fits a small Camper. Only one is almost level for Camping Cars.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground. Every site has it's on sheltered table with bench. Unfortunately you cannot move them and a two person tent doesn't fit under the roof. As it is clearly raining a lot in a rainforest that would be nice. Also in walking distance to the trails "alerce" and "tronador".
4 private sites for 16.000 (people who just want to do the trail can't see you-that is the only difference), 5 "normal" sites for 6.000.

Report Check-In

Very clean campsite and very quiet due to size. 👍🏻

Report Check-In

very beautifull, well kept, about 8 places

Report Check-In

Clean bathrooms, beautiful walk up to the waterfall. Best spit is right at the bottom by the river - totally private!

Report Check-In

Pretty sites. Only cold water. No fire pits!

Report Check-In

This campsite is the best camp site I've ever been to and it was free coz it was low season. I couldn't believe the immaculate conditions it's kept in low season too. Clean and well maintained toilets, showers, shelters, access to water, mown grass, good gravel and the entry to the Cascadas Escondida trail.

Report Check-In

All the campsites in this park are fantastic! They are well designed, built out of quality materials and meticulously maintained. There is cold running water, showers, toilets and taps everywhere. Beautiful shelters with picnic tables at each site as well as individual garbage cans with their own roof. Roads and parking spots are very good gravel. Each site has a mown grassy area for tents. Camping is free except in the high season.

Report Check-In

Very well kept campground. Toilets and shower, sink for washing dishes and clothes, shelters and pic nic tables. The little hike is cool too. It took us 2 hours but we stop to swim in the first waterfall. It cost us nothing as we didn't see the park ranger.

Report Check-In

Small campground with about 8-10 spots not all of them leveled spots or big enough for larger vehicles. Clean restrooms. Sinks to wash dishes and clothes. 5,000 per person in the general area near the restrooms and 16,000 for the private little cabañas. Very nicely kept. There aren’t any signs with prices, so be aware. Ranger came at 9:00am to collect. The hike to the Cascadas was nice. Both Cascadas were really pretty. 1.5 hours round trip taking photos and with a short snack break in between.

Report Check-In

The rangers came later to clean up the toilets and repair the water system. So the situation improved a lot and no payment was demanded. Also a chainsaw team went up to clean the path to the cascades escondidos.

Report Check-In

Nice camping along river with exclusive locations. The water system is out of order so toilets are a complete dirty mess. Portal is high enough for our camping car, bit more than 3 meters. Waterfall tour is bit complicated due to fallen trees in the upper part. Good for self supplying rigs at this time.

Report Check-In

Beautiful well manicured campsite. Clean bathrooms. Stunning river. We did cascade walk from here which is beautiful. Didn’t stay as wanted to get closer to cerro hike for morning, but heard don’t charge during off season (starting 15 Dec).

Report Check-In

A beautiful campground. In October 2017 only one other person camping. Wish we could have camped but NOT big rig friendly. The campground would have been fine but there is a "portal"/gate which has a height limit. We are 3.2m and the entrance gate looks to be about 3.0m. Gutted we couldn't stay! So now we are staying in the parking lot (Alerce hike) just north. Says no camping but we'll see what happens tonight.

Report Check-In

Also to our fellow Dutch friends dutchonwheels, please bear in mind that Doug and Kris Tompkins have spent nearly 25 years and millions of dollars to make this amazing part of nature accesible to us. Pumalin is celebrated the world over as a model for how well maintained and organised a national park can and should be. Furthermore, the entrance is free and we as users of the park with our vehicles have a (negative) impact on the ecosystem. We believe the campsites are more than adequate and they are obviously not designed for the wishes and comforts of the modern world traveling overlander. But that is a good thing. A bit of gratitude to Tompkins is more appropriate than complaining about the price. Buen viaje!

Report Check-In

Wanted to camp here but the entrance gate is slightly too high for us. We are 3.20m so I guess the gate is approx 3.10m. We went further down to Lago Blanco.

Report Check-In

We arrived at 17:30 and at 17:45 the guard showed up and collected the fee. 16000 for one of the shelters, 5000 if you stay at the general parking area. You can half the price of a shelter by sharing with others! Everything else as previously described, the shelters are awesome to get away from the rain:)

Report Check-In

16.000 pesos for a "sitio" now! We said we would leave because that's far too expensive but eventually we payed 5.000 to stay overnight at the parkinglot of this campground. Heard from other overlanders they payed 10.000 (also 2 people and a car), so don't get ripped off!

Report Check-In

Tends to be packed in high-season. We had to go as far as lago negro campsite for the night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful little waterfall hike, nice covered spots away from rain, left at 9:45am and we're never charged.

Report Check-In

Well organized camping site. Nobody charged me.

Report Check-In

Best spots to the left as you come in. Very nice campsite, very clean and well maintained, no litter. Take a torch to the Banõs! Unmanned and no fee collected.

Report Check-In

Perfect stop if you want to do the hike the next morning which is really nice, dense forest, beautiful waterfalls, worth it. The campsite is great too, shelter, bin, toilet and cold shower, water. Nobody came to collect, so free.

Report Check-In

great spot for camping, especially on a rainy day. rainshelter, tables and toilets like in El Volcan. The hike to the cascada starts exactly here , takes 1,5-2h there and back. Nobody came to collect any money

Report Check-In

Good small pitches with covered tables, toilet block with cold shower & dish sink. No electric, no fires. Nobody came to collect by 09:45am so free

Report Check-In

A lovely campsite - not quite as tidy/clean as El Volcan, but idyllic all the same (aside from the horseflies and mozzies). Around 6-8 spots for rigs with shelter and bin, toilets, cold showers, $7500 for a site but we couldn't find anyone to pay. Great hike to the two waterfalls.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campground within walking distance to Cascada / Alerce / Laguna sendero. Stayed 2 nights. Cold water only but didn't matter with the heat. 7500 per spot - 3 spots have room for a car with a private covered seating area but there is a car parking area as well. Way less horseflies than at the volcan campsite

Report Check-In

Only checked it out and moved on. Nice gravel spots with covered seating areas. Medium size campground. There seemed to be no one but the posted price was 7500 per "modulo".

Report Check-In

Another great Pumalin campground, super fun shoots 'n ladders hike to the falls.

Report Check-In

Cold water only. Close to the sendero. Nice spot.

Price:5000 Chiliean Pesos
