Amazing place near Tortuguero. As described before. I wanted to add my recommendation for de Day Tour by Dixon himself! We did that today and it was amazing! We saw a lot of different birds, 2 species of monkeys, a sloth, a caiman and crocodile. Dixon made sure we could see all animals up close. His English is perfect aswell. You go by boat, do a hike uphill and visit the Village of Tortuguero where you have lunch. Great day!

Great place, covered kitchen area, power, water, Wi-Fi, and cold refreshing shower. Gave us fresh cacao pod right off the tree. Was able to do laundry and offers tours.

We had an excellent stay at Dixon‘s Place! We stayed 2 Nights and payed 6000 colones per night for 2 people and one 4x4 runner with rooftop tent. The Campground is very groomed and there is a cute little outdoor kitchen and two hammocks to chill. But besides the beautiful campground is the owner the absolute highlight. Super friendly, helpful and welcoming. This is absolutely the best campground we‘ve visited so far! Would highly recommend.

The camping is 3.500 per person. Clean bathrooms, super nice Kitchen, hammocks and the garden is amazing with lots of tropical colors. We stayed 2 nights and took a one-day trip to Tortuguero with Dixon in his boat. Simply amazing. We saw many animals, crocs, caimans, herons, kingfishers, toucans, monkeys and many more including a sloth. The one day included a hike in Tortuguero hill finishing in a native small local village where we drank coconut water and had lunch cooked by locals, we also visited Tortuguero National Park. Returned in the evening around 5 pm to the camping, we left our car and rode with Dixon to Pavona. Dixon speaks great English and a little french. We did laundry for 5.000 colnes a bag. Thanks Dixon for all your service.

As far as I dont write comments here, I have to. This was the most amazing camping on CostaRica, which we had in 4 weeks of being here. Dont need to describe equipment, which is really fine and nice to rescue after some days of wild camping... I want to say, that the human side of this camping is amazing. Really nice guy Dixon and his young doughter welcomed us with really good english and qe enjoyed stay here by 5$ per person per night. Whats ad-hoc?

Dixon is really good experience wild life guide doing amazing river journeys with his captain on boat. We came on Sunday 6pm and he organized for us whole day journey for following day. And what we seen? I guess everything. 100+ animals including monkeys, crocodiles and caymans, slotsh, various types of birds, jesus lizards and other reptiles, butterflies, snakes and spiders etc. But what was amazing was the program of his journey. We ate nice lunch and tasted coconuts on local farm on carribean coast, enjoyed quiet places of Tortuguero forrests where most of turist are not coming... and all with support with Dixon as a guide, one of best I have ever met. All this journey has been organised only for our little group for 100$ per person per whole day. He gave us the best CostaRica experience...Highly recommend to everyone.

Really beautiful place, quiet, safe, great location, private and clean. Nice kitchen area with table and resting area with hammocks. We stayed 2 nights and arrange a day trip to Tortuguero with Dixon on his boat. We watched lots of aninals and took many pictures, visited San Francisco village and Tortuguero, hike and the national park. Dixon provided us with rain gear, water and binoculars. The whole trip was tailored to what we wanted and more. We left early morning at 6 and came back at 6 in the evening. Really a place and trip to recommend.

We stained 2 nights here. A very nice place, quiet and secure.
Si on has now a little boat in Tortuguero and offers private tours. We did the tour. 2 hours on the Rio (the other boats do it in one hour and don’t stop to see the animals). With this tour, the guide Ashley stops when he sees animals. It was marvelous!
The village of Tortuguero is nice but there is nothing to see except shops and restaurants, which are expensive.

The campground is called, Tortuguero Campground. Owner is Dixon and speaks English. Kitchen, toilet, shower and Wifi. Good and safe place to camp. Very friendly owner.

Nice quite place just of the mainroad.
It is the secondlast house at a deadend street. We vouls pitch our tent in the backgarden surrounded by fruittrees. The have a little outdoor kitchen area with a roof, shower and toilet.
They were still asleep when we left in the early morning so we left 5000 colones on the table.

staid at Dixon's Garden before and coming back from Tortguera. As all told before it is a great place, nothing is missing, nice families and Dixon helpt us a lot with plenty of useful informations. recommend this quiet and good place!

Dixon's place was a perfect stop for us on route to La Pavona for the morning boat to Tortuguero. Dixon was really helpful and chatty, giving us directions on WhatsApp when we arrived after a dark stressful drive. His place is quite tricky to find, basically stay on the main road, and take the last right turn before the bridge.

$10 night (note this is not a campsite but a large grassy space outside a house, with shower and toilet outside for overlanders)

Dixon and his family are so nice. They helped us planning our next steps and we watched soccer with some beers together.
Our rooftoptent broke in the night because of heavy rain, a friend from Dixon fixed it for us.
Clean shower and toilett. The entrance is on the deadendroad, do not follow googlemaps! In the road lives just family members of Dixon, so its really safe! He wanted 5000c per car per night, a really nice price!

Dixon is very interessted in other cultures, had a long culture exchange!

Was so nice to meet you, and thank you sooo much for all your help!

Dixon is a great host. Sharing very useful information about Tortugueros.
He even showed us a banana farm in the surroundings.
We stopped at his garden and there was a lot of space.
Commodities were clean and in good condition.

Dixon and his wife were very friendly. He shows us his garden with many different fruit. We stand with our truck (6.6m long and 3,6m high) directly in front of their house. WiFi very good. Quiet and safe place.

Kitchen area shower restroom big lot with grass area with trees around wood stove hammocks and little house to hang out!! Private farm with only 5 houses family environment in a large farm!! 40 min drive from Tortuguero boat area!! La pavona is the docking area!! Shops are just 2 min drive from campground!! Wifi, sede area! Managed by two Costa Rican Teachers who also overland across Costa Rica
