Be careful of the people here, they say they are helping and that they won’t charge but of course they charge. We entered into Mexico and cleared customs but didn’t get stamped. He stopped us and said he was painting there (although there was no painting gear around) and that we would go to jail if we didn’t have a stamp out of Mexico and got caught. He got in our bus and refused to get off and take us back to the border. I think his intentions were well but it was very forced. He said he would take us for free but we were able to go ourselves but he refused to get off. Then when we got back to the Mexican border to get stamped he wanted money from us. Just be careful of the people around.

Travel insurance of Belize is no longer needed anymore. So safe your money and dont buy it online in advance!

Report Check-In

Steps:

1. Buy travel insurance if you didn’t get it online in advance. You buy on your phone with a card, so you might as well get it beforehand.
2. If vaccinated: Receive and fill out health form. Take to health ministry booth to turn in, show your proof of vaccination.
OR
2. If not vaccinated: take COVID test.
3. Go to immigration booth to pay fumigation fee. We were asked for $12 BZD, but normally it’s $10.

We also exchanged our pesos with the fumigation guy. He offered us the correct rate, but gave us $102 instead of $120.

If you’d like to see this process on video, you can do so here: https://youtu.be/s3rfSs-r4tM. Our information is up to date as of 3/24/22.

Fumigation machine didn't work, taking cash (10 BZD, 5 USD, 100 MXN) for it was operating. Also, at this point they make you fill out a Covid health declaration form.

An officer checks your hotel reservation. We told him we're camping in our RV (SUV with roof tent) and the guy called Belize immigration to get permission to enter without the reservations. We were allowed, and drove back to Mexican immigration to be stamped out.

Report Check-In

Fumigation cost was US$7 or $14 BZD. But we never got fumigated. Oh well…

Had to fill out several other forms here too. They will ask you where your Covid gold standard accommodation is.

Lunch break starts at 12pm Belize time. Don’t know up 8 minutes before, like we did, or you’ll be rushed.

Immigration is still further down the road.

Report Check-In

The station looks deserted. We drove up and paid 100 mxn, but they didn't fumigate the car. He entered our information in the computer and gave us a slip of paper that we never had to show to anyone. While we were at the fumigation station, no one else stopped there and plenty of cars drove by. We asked the insurance guy about this later and he thought it was strange and assured us that fumigation (or at least the document) was still required.
