Description

NOTE: Realized the morning after my stay (9.25.2020) as I was heading out that this campground is technically closed until March!! There is construction happening on part of the property but the front gate was open and I somehow missed the signs saying it was closed when I drove in. I wasn’t the only person staying there either! Most spots were filled. It rained all night and my spot was very muddy, so I mostly stayed in my car and headed out first thing. Decent place to park overnight, if only for its proximity to 60 and relative calm. I was concerned about the amount of trash, but if it’s technically closed, I’d imagine it’s not being maintained regularly.

Quiet rustic campground in Washington and Jefferson NF. No amenities. Only pit toilets and fire rings.

Beautiful campsite, you can have one of the established sites that have a fire ring, but they are all in the shade, OR, you can park in in open dry grassy field in the middle of the round about. Yes the 15' trailers are still here but no people LOL. Great place for the dogs to run around, pit toilets were very clean. No cell service.

Report Check-In

Arrived around 8pm, lots of trailers there (+/-15) but with no people in them, except for one guy.
Quiet, didn't feel unsafe, toilets are closed in off-season.

Report Check-In

only person here, small maybe 6 campsites and center area could be for tents. Free stay area, just please pick up your trash so it stays open.

Stayed here for the first time. I liked it a lot. We stayed here on a Friday night (July 10th), and it was busy, but quiet. We found a nice spot right at the creek, and it was peaceful. There was a large group of RV’s in the middle of the park (maybe two or three families), and there was also a large group of folks in another section. Looks like there was going to be a party, but it rained really hard that night, so everyone chilled in their tents.
I was pleased with our first experience there, and plan on going back soon (in the middle of the week to hopefully avoid crowds).

Great place for free. Everyone we met was friendly. Gave us some beers and invited us to come back up for a weekends fishing.

quiet small little campground, looks to be about 10 maybe 11 places to camp, only one person here when I was camping and I hardly ever saw him think he was mountain biking most of the time. very clean very quiet and there is a back road that takes you directly up to the blue ridge parkway.

Report Check-In

Place was fine, concerned by other comments but everything went well. More private spots about half a mile up the road into the national forest

Report Check-In

Lots of down and out locals living here in tents...Lots of alcohol...didn't like the feeling at all, so I did not stay.

Report Check-In

This is one of my favorite places to camp. Have been here about 4 times now.
Beautiful area that’s easy to get to with a stream running all around the campsites that you can go explore.
The toilets are not open during the off season though!!

Report Check-In

Primitive camping next to Forest Road and not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway

Report Check-In

Nice free campground with pit toilets. Nice stream next to it. Enough room in the middle to fit quite a few rigs. Place was empty except for a single trailer with a guy and his wife.
