Description

As said in the camping spot, you can take a tour with Roger (but we didn't sleep here due to some negative comments). Very worth it !! We left around 10.30 am and came back at 1.30 pm. Much nicer than an organised tour and more personal than just catching a collective boat. We also bought some nice souvenirs but they don't put pressure for you to buy. Nice family !

Nous avons passé 1 nuit devant la maison de Lorena et Justino, que nous recommandons pour aller visiter les Îles Uros. Ils sont extrêmement sympa.

Can't recommend William - we talked to him yesterday evening and made a plan to meet him for a tour at 10am the next day. We waited until 10.45, calling and texting him, but he never showed up. Luckily Yordy was there and took us on a wonderful tour to the island where he and his family live. He had a whole demonstration set up to show how he built his island, and also took us to the school, to the "capital" of the islands, and also to the museum. 4 islands in total. Super gentle and knowledgeable man - highly recommend him! S/15 per person. (William finally texted me later in the day saying sorry he was asleep).

¡100% recomendable!

another point for william! he came as soon as we parked in this spot, it was Sunday at noon and we did a 2,5 hours tour to Uros (15 pp).
knowledge, kindness and friendly, we loved him!
tours to isla Taquile are 120 soles per boat and take a whole day (early start) so better write him in advance in what's up for taquile

Another vote for William. Everything was exactly as described by the previous reviewer and we really enjoyed our morning. William is personable and an excellent guide and it's nice to have him dedicated to your party.

We contacted William via WhatsApp (+51917700106) the day before we wanted to go on the trip and he answered immediately, and we arranged to meet here at the church at 9:30am. It was just the two of us but we still only paid 15 soles pp (includes entrance fee to islands including Capital island) for our private tour.
We would highly recommend William and this tour - he was very nice, very informative, and can speak some English if you don’t know any Spanish. He took us to the island where some of the schools are, his family’s island (where we got an actual presentation of Lake Titicaca and the history of the islands), and Capital Island (as we opted for lunch). We also got to ride in the puma boat for a bit, which was fun.
He does show you the house of his parents, and all of the wares that they make themselves (tourism is the main income for the majority of families), but there was no pressure to buy. He also answers all questions, and gives you lots of information about daily life on the islands.
We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking the tour with William - it was much more personal and cool than packing into a big boat with a lot of people, and we really liked William as a guide.

We went with Justino and Lorena. Both of them and so nice for the four of us.

Apparently all guides in this área are súper nice, and IOverlander shows more some of them and this “punish” some others.

Their culture is to look after travellers; so I guess all are good. Just follow your instint and go with the one you feel.

For us it was no easy coz we had 3 to choose. We arrived in our camper to this spot and first Justino, his clean soul and his smile apeared. Then roger’s daughter and then another one. We had red a lot of information about Roger and we thought about going with his daughter. But Justino was first and he seemed nice to us

We decided to go with him and his wife Lorena and It Was amazing. They are also helping us tomorrow and we will have lunch together. We went in the afternoon and was súper!

Sunset and very few people

Long chat and nice learning

15 soles adult
Children free

An amazing tour with William and his mother Nancy. Roger no longer has time to take tours as he is the president of the Uros. Much better than the organised tours, you have the opportunity to buy some souvenirs they make themselves but there is no pressure at all!

We did the tour with William, it was very interesting, William is a wonderful guide ! We had a great day and were very happy to discover with him the Uros. Much better than
with the other "touristic tour" and here it is private. Highly recommanded!! Contact William via WhatsApp the day before.

we also enjoyed the tour with William and his family a lot. We didn't have high expectations as other travellers told us that the trips to the Uros are a big tourist show. But the tour with William was very familiar and they showed us their daily life. Very intesting and informative. We highly recommend!

Roger‘s son William is a very knowledgable and caring guide with a fantastic personality. Relaxed and personalized tour, no crowdy visitor-hustle. We (family of five) payed 15 Soles per person, absolutely worth it. Would hire William anytime again!

very nice tour with William and his family. everything easy to arrange via WhatsApp. we took a taxi from Puno for 15soles (just tell the driver "Para chulluni y me deja en la iglesia" and he will take you to the meeting point with William or Roger). food on the islands is a bit expensive (20-30soles). Anyway, if you want to go to Uros, go with them.

Friendly people. And nice visit. Highly recommended. Use the phone (Whatsapp ) of William, his father's phone is no more available (felt in the lake).

Really recommend going to Uros with Roger. We set an appointment the day before and slept in front of the church (safe place). The next morning we had a breakfast buffet at hotel Xima a few hundred meters down the road for 5 USD pp (they charge 10 USD pp but we bargained). We met Roger at 9.30am and he took us on a really informative tour. We spend some time on his island where he tought us some things about the lake and the community. We visited the local school and headed back afterwards. The tour took us 2,5 hours. We paid 15sol pp for the tour + 30sol for a cool souvenir (no pressure).

You can also go with Justino and his wife. His WhatsApp : +51 974427453. Very nice persons. Just park in front if the church and somebody will come and get politely in touch with you.

Such a cool experience! We met with Roger in the afternoon at this location and agreed to meet at 10am the next morning.

The next morning Roger and his son William met us at the same spot. We took their boats out, toured around, got to visit the local school, and the most cool part - we spent a good deal of time on the island where Roger, William, and the rest of their family lives. They gave us tours of their homes and explained the building of the islands- we learned so much! We also got to go to the "capital" to eat lunch.

Highly, highly recommend going with Roger and William - it's so much more personal and you get to visit more places!

Roger wasn’t there, so instead we did the tour with Francisco.
Since it was Sunday, there were less tourists he said; we almost had all the islands for ourselves. Really enjoyed it! Highly to recommend!

If you bring your passport you can let it stamp with the official Uros stamp.

You can also sleep at Francisco’s island, its 40 USD pp/pn and includes transport, accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner and lots of activities (check foto) . Contact Francisco: www.urossumaurolodge.com

We did a tour with Roger as well and also really recommend it. We showed up at 7pm and at first were not really sure if it is the right place. It is in front of a small church but no other real indicators. We asked a few kids around and Roger showed up a few minutes later. We agreed for the tour next day at 9am

On the day of the tour, he took us out on his own boat to a small island where he lives, then another island with a school, and a third island with a small restaurant and a fish farm.

The entire time, we were on our own with no other tourists around. We would see them on other islands, of course, but it felt really relaxed for us. We were back in about 3.5-4 hours.

Highly recommend!

Really nice tour! We’ve arrived around 3 pm in Puno and we went straight to find Roger to organize te tour for the next morning. He lives in the island but his kids live in town because they go to school inland:) they will be there to help you contact him. The tour is totally worth it, it was a pleasure and an honor to spend the morning with Roger.
