Latest Check-Ins

We drove to Cerro Negro in a 3.5m high truck camper. we took the route from Leon and had to saw off a few branches. but it was possible. always follow the yellow signs. I recommend not driving a vehicle that is significantly taller because there are thick branches hanging down. Unless you are willing to unpack the chainsaw often 😄

If you say that you have been before you don’t have to pay for a guide (and a guide is not necessary as the walking path is easy to follow!) - that should save you some money!

We are glad we didn’t come with our truck camper ! We couldn’t make it as the trees were quite low (we are 3m3 high) and the road is sand.
We did the tour with Mariobios Tour (you can text them on Instagram, they respond very quickly). We paid 30$ per person. It was much better than volcano day as they were like 20 people and we were just 5 (4 of us and 1 other guy)

We went with Barbaro Tours. They were awesome. $30 US pp and it was private. They supply all the gear for volcano boarding and the guide can do Spanish or English. Only one other group of 3 up on the volcano at the same time as us. Take the 8am before it gets too hot. We had a blast! WhatsApp for Barbaro: +505 8746 8393.

from here at this point I recommend taking the route that Google recommends rather than following the route signs that bear to the left. you'll get a bit less sand. Also, it's an easier drive at the beginning of the day rather than at the end.

From here on its volcanic sand. We did it with 2wd e350 ford. No problem today, the underground was hard with a bit sand on top. After the entrance of the parc it gets a bit trickier but still doable
