Description

Well-maintained campsite. Three wind-protected huts with benches and tables. Bathroom with toilets and showers. A ranger comes by in the morning and the evening to collect the fee, which is 8.000 CLP per person. However, the parking area in front of the campsite is the only place where motorhomes can be parked. Closed during the low season from about the middle of March to the end of October.

In addition, the trail towards Valle Aviles starts behind the campsite.

We only passed for the day hike (and stayed in west winds) but it looked awesome with the central house, also have electricity inside and wood burning heating. Would recommend it more than west winds, also looked less crowded and more protected.

parc Patagonia côté Chili, marche de 16km vallée et plateaux

Report Check-In

nice camping place the owner is awesome. if you drive towards Argentina from here just pay the camping at the welcome center. if you are from Argentina and driving towards Chile you can pay just the next day at the welcome center. the hot showers are just perfect so as the toilet there is no signal

Report Check-In

Stay in parking lot for the night. Was very quiet and safe. Ranger said ok. Normally you have to pay the campsite even if it’s a parking. Ranger past but we didn’t see any in evening and morning. When you come from Chile. You can go to visitor center and pay you camping. It’s 8000 pp also children up to 5 years. But the ranger woman was very friendly and we paid only for 2 adults. Don’t miss visitor center. It’s like USA. Very nice!

Another superb Parque Patagonia campsite with heaps of grassy space and nice shelters - go to the end one for the most superb view up the valley! Great hot showers and generally clean although cleaning doesn't extend to the wad of hair in drain hole unfortunately! Camper vans in car park but can get a nice sitting out spot overlooking river. Nice to wake up on Xmas morning to perfect peace and quiet (except for a mob of stampeding horses now grazing on the flat- what are they doing in the park? Lots of old cow pats around too so think some fencing needs to be done somewhere!). 8000 each to ranger on site - well worth it!

Report Check-In

Nice open campground with several sheltered areas with benches and table (but little parking if you want to sleep in your car). All facilities are in a big building and very clean. The shower was very hot (it was a sunny day, I suppose it is solar energy heating) but not very powerful : still felt incredibly good after 4 days of trekking. 3 big rooms with sink and table to cook inside if there is too much wind or mosquitoes. The ranger was very nice. Don't know the price : when we told him we were arriving from Lago Jeinemini and 4 days walking, he told us not to pay for the campsite. Very peaceful place. It is also the beginning of a 16km walk in the valle Aviles.

Report Check-In

With a camper or motorhome, you are quite far from the main house. Stayed there for one night, very windy but okay.

Hot shower and Refugio were very good.

8000 clp per person, guardaparque checked the receipt around 6 PM. You cannot sleep in the parking for free.

Report Check-In

As said by others; beautiful campsite, not a lot of parking space.
Only rig today, 2 tents on the campgrounds.
Showers were warm but not hot, the weather is not great, so that would explain.
The hike is well worth the 4 hours!

Report Check-In

Great camping spot in the park ! Warm welcome, hot showers and clean facilities. The parking lot for the vans is apart from the main house but you can cross with a little bridge to get there. Very windy when we were there.

Report Check-In

Open again. Nice campsite, one of the three in the area.

Report Check-In

Camper van can be only in the parking area. A 2 min walk on tiny bridge takes you across to the campsites. The building has very clean facility with 3 little rooms with benches and sinks. Since it was super windy we made dinner there. They do have open shelters as well for outdoor cooking. We really loved the facility.

Report Check-In

Strike is over.
Camping open .................. *****

Report Check-In

Great facilities, the stone house has 2-3 rooms you can cook in there, outside there are three sheltered areas with tables and chairs

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite indeed, but as the park guards are on strike it is closed. We talked to the park guard and she explained (in fluent English) this was a national strike of the guards from all national parks. They are asking for better working conditions ( some guards have to stay in the parks for 6 weeks without any accommodation, so have to bring their own tent, food, drinks). The girl explained she was in a luxurious position at this park because she could stay in this building that was donated to the Chilean people together with the park, but that the Chilean government itself does not invest in the national parks and it's guards. Neither is there any money for real conservation work.

Report Check-In

Campsite with incredible views. Hot showers. Electricity supplied by ranger if needed.

Report Check-In

Another beautiful Parque Patagonia campsite. We spent three nights here, completed the Avilés loop and made a day trip visit on our bikes to Alto Valle to do the Lago Chico trail. It was very hot and sunny while we were here with little wind, so lots of flies and mosquitoes from about 8am and into the evening. The stone house is a lifesaver to escape them. It’s basic, but everything is high quality and very clean. As it was so sunny the solar showers were piping hot! Well worth a detour if you are cycling the Carretera Austral.

Report Check-In

Beautiful campsite with many sheltered places. Stone house for cooking and relaxing a bit after a great walk! Only two other tents there.

Report Check-In

Very well maintained campsite. Unfortunatly you have to stay on the parking with a camper. Good shower and toilet. Great walk in the valley. Still 8000cp pP.

Report Check-In

Nice big campsite, with a common area stone house where you can cook, relax and chat. Shower was hot in the morning. 8000 per night per person, collected by ranger. The hike to it from jeinimeni was very picturesque with a suspension bridge thrown in!

Report Check-In

Stayed here parked up in the van and used the kitchen to cook. The parking lot is about 200m from the facilities so a few trips back and forth over the river while we were there. There was no hot water for showers in the evening (I think another friendly camper had used it all) but we went and showered after doing the hike the next day and it was piping hot. The hike took 4h11mins.

Report Check-In

Stayed at this place to walk in the park the next day. We had to stay on the parking area with our van, which is quite far away from the facilities. Still we had to pay the full price of 8000 pesos per person. In the end the water heating was not working, so we had a cold shower. This was really dissapointing...

Report Check-In

It was closed and inaccessible when we were here.

Report Check-In

Casa Piedra is closed for low season at the moment. The other 2 campgrounds were still open when we visited.

really friendly ranger who let us use the showers and electricity when not camping there.
we wanted to do the hike but when it started raining we decided not to go.
don't know how long the main season lasts but mid March it was still 8000pp

Report Check-In

4wders must leave vehicle in car park [where we camped]. The showers are wood-fired and hot. The kitchen and common areas were hectic with local families when we stayed. The ranger had good info on the various walks you can do nearby including the excellent Valle del Avilés.

Report Check-In

Great campingspot. Less crowded than West Winds. 8000/p (children free) is a fair price for this place and the good facilities. Nice 16 km walk starts from the campsite.

Report Check-In

Wonderful campsite with the best hot showers in Chile. The high season rate of 8,000 pp is very reasonable given the facilities and Parque access. Camped fine in the car park with a rooftop tent and used the common rooms (which are really well set up with benches, tables, elec and running water - as well as being very warm.). The trek from here is great. If 5,000/8,000 is too much for you then just move on but don’t complain about it.

Report Check-In

As previously noted, only parking for rigs (like our truck camper) was in the parking lot. The campground appeared to be closed and we weren't charged a fee. At this time, the only other campground was at the visitors center. Exceptionally windy.

Report Check-In

Open now for the season. We parked in the parking area in our motor home and crossed the walking bridge to use the lovely facilities, hot showers, Banos, sinks for water and washing. Ranger was there and chatted to us but didn't charge us. we met a guy who camped here in his tent a few nights before and he was charged 8000. River here is getting very high as snow is melting and the roads south and North of here are getting quite flooded. We just made it so beware.

Report Check-In

We could park our campervan and camp outside the camping and make use of facilities. Young ranger. Nice to talk with, pay 8000 for 2p

Report Check-In

Open now! Actually the only one open at the moment as west winds is closed due to road maintenance. Parking for campervans on the parking which does not make it worth the money (8000 pppn). Luckily we could get a discount (8000 per car). Piping hot shower and electricity off. Park itself is definitely worth a visit, such a different type of nature. Great hike to Laguna altas. Consider payment of campground as contribution of beautiful park.

Report Check-In

closed (chain+ padlock). No access even to the parking.
no any information about openning date

17 km hike, advised as the most beautiful hike by the administration centre. we didn't know this hike because we came.from argentinian border...

Report Check-In

It's closed now (probably because of low season ), so you can stay here for free at the nice located carpark. The watertap outside the toiletbuilding still function, and otherwise you have the clear river. Don't miss the beautifull 17 km hike here.

Report Check-In

They dont have a park ranger now. So you can camp there but all the facilities are closed. Only an sink is outside the building. We camped on the parking lot because we have a roof tent.

Report Check-In

nice place, if you need a shower, toilets and a room to cook & eat.

we paid 5000 clp.

Report Check-In

Wow....this was the best campcround in Southamerica for us and it was free! This is land from the northface (outdoor) owner in Memorial.... Super clean showers and toil. Keep it clean!!

Report Check-In

Camping is still for free although it's finished, so I guess it will stay free. Overlanders need to stay on the parking as the little bridge to get to the amenities and campground is not large enough for cars. Only 7 spots on the parking lot so you might not want to arrive here too late. Nice amenities, with possibility to cook with your own gear in the building. Some wind shelter on the parking lot but not great. met other overlanders.

Report Check-In

For us overlanders, this are just parking spaces. Occupied by cars of people on the campsite...

Report Check-In

Closed and locked facility for holiday. Be aware. We were allowed to camp. No fires in Park. Fresh snow up high.

Report Check-In

beautiful place. Great sendero trails. Condors around. All facilities are complete. Toilets, hot showers, inside cooking area with electricity. very nice. will be charging camping fee soon.

Report Check-In

It is still free. Very clean, by a river and there is shadow. For us is the best place on this road to spend the night, considering the other possibilities and the road conditions.

Report Check-In

Level parking places for over landers stone footbridge over river to new under construction bathrooms. Very quiet, no one here. no facilities yet. pretty protected from the wind.

Report Check-In

Still unfinished. Parking for rigs is next to the street and it was a bit too dusty for us.

Report Check-In

Part of Patagonia park. Level parking areas for vehicles. Across river/bridge are several tent sites with shelters. Bathrooms were under construction still so free for us. The westwind campground located near the lodge west of here is finished and has full facilities $5000 per person.
