Description

Nice Lodge in Turmi Town. Camping on the sandy Car Park between some Trees. Free 24/7 Electricity (without Generator), free but slow WiFi. Used Water Tap from Restaurant or the garden tap and got a Bucket Shower. When one of the Rooms was free they also opened that one so we could use the clean Ablutions. Restaurant offered decent Food and cold Drinks. Friendly Owner Lalle. Wanted 10 USD pppn but we negotiated 5 USD pppn.

Camping in a sandy car park which is ok as the place wasn't busy. Staff are friendly and helpful and the place is secure. You gey many guides visiting you and you can barter for the best price to see the villages. This lodge is right in the centre of Turmi and its the Hamer people are all around. Its easy and wonderful to walk around the village and visit the market and see the Hamer people too. You can get electricity with a long lead 30m from the bar and they have a restaurant but we didn't try the food just the beer.
They charge 700bir per night 8m sure you can get it down but we were happy to pay that after paying extortionate hotel fee coming from the south. Chilled place and when not busy you get keys to a room for hot shower and w/c. We were lucky enough to see the Bull jumping whilst we were there, a fascinating day.

We tried to camp here but they would only offer $35 for camping with long drop and no shower or $45 with the use of a room. The owner was not there and it was impossible to convince the other people there that previous guests stayed here for $5. So we left. They did help us out with getting diesel from a barrel in town, which was really friendly!

Nicely maintained grounds —not large but enough space for several camping cars. Friendly staff-not intrusive. Asked for $10 pppn but easily accepted $5 when I mentioned previous guests. Also gave us key to room for very clean ablutions—not busy now. Exchanged small denomination US bills at close to bank rate. Had good local dinner and lots of cold beer :-), reasonably priced (I think—first day in Ethiopia). Could get WiFi in our car.
