Beautiful spot, I ended up staying closer to 50 because of the wind (phone said 20mph). Also I came in from the east off 650rd onto 123rd and there were a couple sections that I had to get out of my van (stock extended ford transit) and check to see if I could drive over. Pretty much just big awkward rock 'steps' in a couple places. I made it fine, but was hoping the western side of the road would be easier and it definitely is. So if you'ren't sure then I'd say come in and leave from the western entrance/exit (btw if you're traveling west to get here, you'd have to go past the road a lil bit until the next left turn lane and bang a uey).

We set up for the night but then got pushed out by an incoming rain storm. We didn't want to get stuck so we left early. Views are amazing, leveling blocks recommend. Cell service was good. Quiet. No one else around. Made it up in our 2WD Sprinter with no issues when dry. Just go slow in some parts.

great spot. a bit bumpy on the way in, but slow going with high clearance does the trick. amazing views over the river

Report Check-In

By far the coolest place I’ve stayed at. There are spots all along the rim of the canyon and there's hardly anyone around. The road in is narrow and pretty rocky but not the worst I’ve seen. 2-3 bars Verizon LTE service.

April 2022 road is in great shape. Plenty of options with good views. If a full size skoolie made it out here, so can you.

Report Check-In

Nice place to camp when the wind is not blowing. The road is rough and rocky in place should have a vehicle with decent clearance. Various underdeveloped camp spots spread out along the cliffs. Great views, far enough from the road it is quiet. Good cell service with T-moble and ATT.

Beautiful views of the canyon and the Gunnison River from our spot -- right on the cliff and nestled inside a cluster of juniper trees. One of the coolest BLM sites we've visited. Road was bumpy where we camped but a 2wd with sufficient clearance won't have a problem.

Report Check-In

Beautiful overlook camping site. No protection from the wind.

Calm. No wind. my lifted minivan made it just fine. a regular car can make it here, going slow. Gorgeous views of the river below, but so many bugs, I had to retreat back down 1/2 mile. empty all too myself 🚀🧑‍🚀

Report Check-In

Lots of spots on the dirt road leading to this. Lots of spots on the rim of a huge mesa, but it was too windy so we retreated back downhill for a bit where the wind calmed down. Road isn't too bad, a Subaru or better will have no problem at all.

A good way’s off the highway down a gravel road that gets pretty bumpy and rocky. Your vehicle will need good clearance/4x4. Not sure how this road handles rain. Several spots along the the road and some that branch off the closer you get to the overlook. Beautiful views and very remote and peaceful.

great location with amazing view of the canyon, and full cell service.

A gem of a site! A drive up a pretty gutted road but I did see a smallish sedan coming down as we were going up.

The wind was blowing but it wasn't terrible. Though if trying to light a campfire or possibly cook, it may present a problem.

Amazing views, great night sky views, secluded and quiet.

Report Check-In

As described, multiple sites, no neighbors in site this weekend, a few vehicles drove by. Road is rutted but passable with a passenger car. Winds are as described, highly variable and came at the evening through the night for us. Hope to return.

Beautiful overlooks with a couple fire rings. Breezy and open. Road is a little rough in a couple spots but very doable for my 2wd van.

Awesome overlook with a beautiful sunset. A bit of chilly wind, but it’s expected.

Report Check-In

Beautifull view, even raining. The gravel road is ok and no need of 4x4.

Absolutely beautiful. Windy during the day but not at night. Verizon LTE access

Spot is far enough away from the highway that you don't here anything. Great overlook and awesome sunset over the canyon and river. Even had the chance to watch the train run through the base. Great spot!

Report Check-In

Nice stopover on the way to Moab. Only concern was the exposure to wind that day.
