ATTENTION : Route n7 - Careterra Austral is actually (january 2018) blocked for 9 km around Villa Santa Lucia due to a huge mud slide. Impossible to pass. Road repair is going on.
If you want to go South, you can take a temporary free ferry between Chaiten and Puerto Raul Marin Balmaceda. This ferry leaves in Chaiten at 23.00PM, takes 7 hours. Please check situation on Careterra Austral before heading South! For those travelling from South to North I suppose you can take the ferry in the opposite direction but check departure time.
