Info still accurate. Very nice but also very tough hike - 2.8km one way with about 1000m elevation gain with lot of sketchy sections where you have to rely on ropes and your hands. In spring with still lots of snow we could only make it to the first mirador, but nevertheless, with the hike being so steep we needed about 5 hours return

incredible hike. can be done in one day from the bottom if you aren't planning to stay at la junta or any of the other campsites. however, you'll need to leave very early. it took us 4 hours to get from the closest parking to La Junta and then you'll need 3-4 hours on this trail and another 4 back to the car. so it's a long, hard day. 12 hours total so leave before 8am and only if it's summer and gets dark late! the 4 hours to and from la junta are not difficult but it is muddy and already somewhat of an obstacle course going over mud sections on bridges and ledges. then Arcoiris is much more of an obstacle course using ropes and ladders to climb up rocks. it's also easy to lose the trail so keep an eye out for trail markers! have fun :)

Via ferrata like Trail. On the second half you have to rely on well worn and wet hemp rope at several sections. Definitely not an easy hike for everyone - only suitable for more experienced people. Some advertisement at the beginning of the trail would be nice.

Amazing scenic vistas of granite mountains and the valley below. If you have some stamina left keep on and follow the little rock formations to the second Mirador. and if you still don't have enough and feel comfortable in scrambling class 3-4 keep on to the summit of Cerro Arcoiris which gives you the full 360° of the area. Just incredible views. Start early to be able to return before dark, it takes longer than you might expect (over 1000m elevation gain to the top). Just enjoy, and good luck with the masses of people during high season.

5.5 km round trip hike to Mirador Cerro Arcoíris from Camping La Junta. Incredible views of the granite mountains across the valley. Very, very steep hike through a lush rain forest with massive trees. Lots of scrambling through trees roots and rocks. There are several sections wide anchored ropes to help you climb over the rocks. This hike is sort of an obstacle race. Very fun and quite sketchy at times.
