Description
Charming and peaceful art village, started in the 60th by a former tobacco farmer. Has achieved international renown for the quality and artistry of the stone sculptures produced here. Currently there are approximately 80 artists in residence and their art is displayed in vast and very charming sculpture gardens.
They offer informal camping and very basic guest chalets in the style of traditional Shona mud huts. They offer traditional African food, Shona dancing, stone sculpture tutorials and village tours.
Camping is $20per site per night but is probably negotiable (although there are no formal sites, it’s more a perk where you want thing) and for the chalets they charge $30 per night per chalet. There are 3 chalets, 2 with 2 beds and 1 with 3 beds. They are very basic. The community as a whole is very inviting and friendly!

Latest Check-Ins
20 USD for „camping“ for the two of us. No showers included. It’s just parking at the entrance next to the road which is quite busy. Gras is not cut and plastic bottles lying around. We found a great wild camping spot before at (-16.7529690, 30.9405750) but wanted to support the community. There is also an unused chinese road from Tengenenge to an old chrome mine with perfect wild camping options on top with a scenic view

About 90 artists live in the village and because of the fuel and finance situation, every month less visitors come and stay. They told us last year came about 8 a month, now the number decreased to 4 a month.
