Description

This is the new entry to the area for leaving Mexico. First pay the bridge toll 30 pesos at the drive-up booth, then pull over and STOP on the left. There is no designated migración office for leaving Mexico, you have leave your vehicle at the side of the road and walk across to the office for migración arrivals. They will stamp your passport (if you don't do this, when you get across the bridge to US arrivals, they will send you back again). It's not very clear where to go, just ask an officer to point you. Not sure about the process/place for TIP cancellation as we have a 10 yr RV TIP. Hopefully someone can add that info here.

Coming from US to Mexiko you first have to cross the international bridge and pay 4$ in cash. After that you come to the Mexican border where you have to park and go inside the building. First counter on the right for tourist visa. We got 180 days and payed 638$ per person by credit card. You can get copies at the other end of the building left side. For Banjercito you need a copy of the drivers passport, the drivers tourist visa and the car papers. At Banjercito it takes a while, the guy double checks all the numbers and also checks them on your car. But he was very friendly and in the end you can pay by credit card. For a motorhome we didn’t have to pay the deposit of 400$. It took us 2 hours but on a Monday at 10am there are a lot of people.

The Mexican side would not allow entry. We are in a 2012 converted mini school bus, Chevy Express. Their only explanation was they couldn’t process us. They are sending us to Piedras Negras. The US side said they randomly reject vehicles and we could try again her later. Not worth it as the wait to get back into US is long.

mexico -> USA

the usual lots were closed due to Corona or similar reason. IF you encounter this:
1. do not enter the gates, drive around towards the beetles museum and park behind the aduana office there.
2. enter, take care of tip and passport stamp. 3.then return to bridge, pay and cross to USA.

Mexico was very easy, USA varies it sounds like

Mexico -> USA
Do exactly as described by Tucks’ Truck: Pay 30 pesos and park in the curve right behind the bridge toll house, don’t cross the bridge yet.
Go in the white Aduana building.
Cancel your TIP at the first window left hand side. They looked at the car, took pictures and only wanted to keep the window sticker and the banjercito paper. Money comes back within 3 days. no other copies required.
At the first window on the right hand side in the aduana building you get your Mexico exit stamp.
Cross the bridge with your car.
They x rayed and searched our van and took our raw eggs which took quite some time. No other forms to fill out. No passport stamp, it’s all electronical. Everything very polite.

We crossed the border here. Got all our papers and receipts, but we paid by credit card. The weirdest things is that when you pay by card they ask your PIN code because the machine wire is to small for you to access it...we did freeze our card right after crossing just in case...will see.

Crossed from MX to US as a citizen of neither. Bit of a weird system, paid the toll (28mx) then had to drive down the bridge and turn around to go get exit stamps at the offices. Not very well organised but it worked. For non US/MEX crossing is not 24hrs. We had to wait until 6am for the offices to open. Parked in town. Safe and quiet.

As previous comment with a smile on the face take the money and do not give receipt, looks like if u do not ask they have not to do it.
Try to pass with a pickup 250 and NOTHING TO DO you can not get in!
They do not allow 250 or 350 or dully, we try to talk about the problem of translation of weight gross weight etc but NOTHING TO DO. They will not issue a temporary import permit.
We desperately left and drove to Piedras negra where a nice lady at bienercito told us that is the regulation and directions. There is a temporary time during festivity that you can go but time was up. So no way to get in.
But, if on your registration there is not written the weight or that the vehicle is a 250 then maybe you can get your TIP , if the officer know is a 250 or 350 and enforce the law you are screwed....
I will not take the risk. Wire thing if is registered like a motorhome even a 450 is fine...

Caution here- Border patrol corruption! The government official that gave us our tourist permit and stamp ended up pocketing our tourist permit fee, and we were forced to repay it when we exited to Belize. Don't pay anything at the counter where you get your stamp. Only pay at the bank and get and keep a receipt!!
