Description

Motorcycles and bicycles are not allowed to go through.

The road is crossing through a national park from Mbobo for 33 km's. We where allowed to enter with our motorcycles, we didn't see any wildlife on the road but we did see a lot of elephant poo. So if you cross you can be more lucky. It's free to pass the road.

Latest Check-Ins

Did not allow us to pass on a large motorcycle.

Wildlife guard suggested waiting for a truck to load the bike but in the hour or so back to Kasungu we didn't pass a single one.

We wondered if we’d struggle to get a lift across the park (two people, two bicycles) as there was next to no traffic passing us en-route, but happily we didn’t have to wait at all. It seems as you get closer to the entrance any vehicles that do pass will likely stop to offer you a ride, that’s what happened to us, with two stopping at once a few kms out!

We ended up in a small car with 5 seats and 10(!) passengers, with the bikes strapped to the roof. The cheeky driver tried to ask for 35,000kwacha at the end. We paid 3,000 each plus 1,000 for the bikes.

Free to drive through. Not much traffic compared to lake highway. Only saw monkeys

Bicycles not allowed. I waited 10 mins for a 4x4 to take my bike and me. They asked for 2000k when I got out. Road is awful.

Usually motorcycles are not allowed to ride through the park. We got permission to ride on the main road through the park because the owner of the Rafiki Safari Camp where we stayed the night before made a call and got us the permission. It might not always be possible so easily though.
The road was a very nice dirt road. We saw many signs of elephants but no actual wildlife. The views and the landscape was beautiful though.

I was not allowed to enter with my motorbike. The ranger said I must put my bike on one of the vehicle entering the NP and pay some fees. I'm in a rush and couldnt wait so I turned back to Kasungu.
