This is one of two free campgrounds in the area with no amenities used mostly by hunters in the Davy Crockett National Forest. There is one poorly maintained outhouse on location. The access road FS 511A, off highway 21, is a very well maintained gravel road. Medium sized RV's should have no troubles accessing this site. The other campground is half a mile SE on FS 511.

We got here after dark on a Thursday and got the last spot. Vault toilet clean with lots of fresh tp. Four bars of 5G ATT. Quiet. The overlook is pretty.
Report Check-InNice, level sites. Recently control burned, so it smells like a fireplace but that'll clear up after a few rains.
Report Check-InHere on a weekday & not another soul. Road in is kind of sandy with a few potholes but keep going. There is a loop with maybe 10-12 places to pull/back in, a couple are pull-thru. There is a restroom building near the observation deck but I’ve not been in it. No fire-rings but some of the spots have places where folks have previously built fires. There is a sign for a hiking trail. There are literally no amenities apart from the restroom, not even trash cans. It’s great here, quiet & peaceful.
Report Check-Invery nice small free campground. rather private with spaced out sites and lots of trees. only one hiking trail here that is closed so not a whole lot to do here. person next to our site was running a noisy generator all day.
Report Check-InDispersed camping in Crockett Natl Forest. Numerous options on the bluff and more down towards the Neches river on Overlook Spur 5111. Definitely used by hunters as well as campers and day use folks. No facilities but the vault toilet up on the bluff so bring your own (whatever you need to be comfortable). It’s clean, felt safe, and the Forest service roads were maintained and navigable (it was relatively dry when we came). Went on a nice little walk down to the Neches to check it out. Would come back again.
Report Check-InNice scenic boondocking spot with a clean pit toilet, 2 bad
Re of ATT and T-Mobile wireless.
Follow the Nueces Bluff Hunter campsite 17 sign. The 4C hiking trail terminates here
Report Check-InFree. Clean with easy access. FS Road from Hwy 21 is not marked, Only one other camper; however, 1/2 dozen day visitors. Did have someone stop on the opposite side of the loop from my camp and did some shooting with a .22. Not the best place for that w/ all the NF land around. Grassy sites were grown up, but very doable for parking w/ a few small firepits. Apparently the FS isn't mowing this location as grown up in various places, but not bad. Pit toilet is open and maintained regularly w/ cleaning log on door. Overlook view was nice from deck. Slight distant road noise from rural Hwy 21. One bar with ATT LTE. A stray cat visited site around dinner and lunch. 4C trailhead is ribboned off from past wind damage; however, me and others were hiking it, trail is in good shape down to the Neches River w/ only a few blowdowns. Overall pleasant stay, would stay again. Might pass during deer season.
Report Check-InRoad is clear and easily passable as of June 12, 2019. Lots of space for rigs and tents. Empty. Free.
Report Check-InTornadoes ravaged the area a week ago but the camping spots are open. The bathroom is not damaged, there are many trees down but the road is passable.
The tornado took a path along the main road, so much destruction.
Despite the damage, we slept well. We even saw 4 deer on our way into the camp area. Peaceful!
Report Check-InGood spot. No trash service but there is a pit toilet. No other services. Access to hiking. Relatively easy access via a dirt road. Free.
Report Check-Inthe first campground was just as it's described. the outhouse was beyond using in our opinion. 3 people were set up there. we drove half mile down the road to the second camp ground. no one here, no outhouse 4 campsites. very quite.
