This is a free National Forest campground, in the Gila National Forest. It's up on a bluff, overlooking the Gila River, with beautiful cliffs right across the way. You can walk down a short trail to get to the river access for swimming, wading, or just enjoying the views.
The campground is fairly small, but it was empty when I got there mid-week, starting to fill up for the weekend. There's a vault toilet, and no water available except for the river. Most of the sites have a nice view.
You drive up a very windy road from Silver City to get here. It's a slow drive, but the scenery is outstanding.
Very quiet at night. No cell service. Just beautiful!

As we drove up 15 we saw a lot of mud and some rain f the entrances looked dodgy re. Getting stuck in the recreational areas. The Forks Campground was a good choice to stay. It is high ground overlooking some cliffs. A dirt and gravel road coming into the sites. We had an end site which was nice and secluded. only about Half full in the park and very quiet at night. Fire pits at sites also. A nice stay!
Report Check-InVery empty here when we arrived, only one other camper. Beautiful sites, flat could accommodate a big rig as long as you’re not blocking someone in! Grateful for these beautiful campgrounds provided and groomed. Picked up some garbage on the way out leaving it in better shape. You should too! This spot was nicer than the one we got at the Gila Hot Springs Campground.
Report Check-In8 kms to the cliff dwelling parking lot. 6.5 to the two major trail heads. Quiet at night. We spent a few nights here in between hikes and always got the same spot back.....
Report Check-InGreat area to stay. Beautiful views and seems peaceful. Decent sites right along the cliff edge with fire rings. I took the last spot by the turnaround so done traffic as people look for an open site. Busy on a Saturday evening. Grapevines was full. Also spots by the Natl Monument but looked not as nice. No cell service. Partial shade
Report Check-InThis is a really nice free campground 10 minutes from the Gila Cliff Dwellings. There are 7 spots with metal fire rings and a few more with stone rings. There is one large spot near the entrance that could fit multiple vehicles. There was only one other camper here during my stay Sunday - Tuesday. Quiet, beautiful views & nice area to walk around. The toilets had a bit of a smell inside but overall very clean and well maintained.
Report Check-InNobody here but me. Stayed a couple nights. Parked at the campsite farthest from the toilets, but there’s still a little odor occasionally when I step outside. Nice views. The trees offer some privacy.
Report Check-InNice quiet spot with drop toilet. Watched group of deer feeding on opposite side of river. Very cold nights, days lovely.
Report Check-InBeautiful cliff and river view, and FREE. Prepare for a long drive in from Silver City, make sure you have good brakes!
Report Check-Innice quiet place to stay for the night. free, with bathrooms and access to the river. right next to the hot springs practically
