Description

One of the 4 entrances to the park; the most southern. 5km to the north is the Conaf administrative headquarters and visitor center. Entrance fee for foreigners is now 25.000 pesos pp. At the ranger stations you can stay the night in your campervan for free and use the bathrooms. When you leave the park you have to show your tickets and white form again for another stamp. We entered the park at Sarmiento, coming from Cerro Castillo at the Argentinan border.

Staying overnight with a motorhome is unfortunately only allowed at the two camp sites and the Lago grey parking lot as well as the information Center at Lago Pingo.
At the other Entrances you will be sent away as well as on the hotel parkings where it was possible until last year, even if you are fully self contained. We only found one spot to spent the night free beside the other mentioned before but arrived very late at night. So be prepared to drive back every evening to the south part of the park or even drive out every night. That’s the TDP game.

Free wifi to buy tickets online. Staff not very friendly and not really good advice for trails. But there is a big map with all of trails and time. Be careful some trails can be closed (salta grande e cuernos, mostly all this part) if very windy. So you can be disappointed if many trails are closed. So there you can decide if you take 3 days pass or more. Ticket are not Very controlled even if you go to visitor center…

No dogs allowed. If the rangers see or hear your dog, you will be denied entry. No refunds. No games. There is no check of the back of the vehicle or camper. No one is looking for dogs. You could easily drive into and around this national park with a dog in your rig. But if you sneak in with your dogs you are violating the rules. No dogs allowed.

We went to the rangers to ask for details.

Most comments are right, though:

1) Ticket needs to be purchased online. If you say it does not work or does not recognize your card, they will let you pay in cash to enter.

2) You can sleep in parking lots with a motor home. You don't need reservation in advance.

3) Horridly overpriced for what you get if you go for a short stroll (I. E. with small kids). But yes, we all come here to see the park.

Price has gone up to 25000 clp for foreigners.
This is a good entrance to use if coming from Puerto Natales and plan to work your way through the park and back into Argentina.

Personne au poste pour payer après 20h. On s'est arrêté mais tout était fermé. On a poursuivi notre route sans soucis. Ripio très mauvais sur le parc.

We paid 21000 each to get into the park. All the staff were very friendly and helpful in pointing out the good walks and places to park and camp.

Drove from Rio Grande the same say and arrived in the park at 10pm at night.
No one at the entrance obviously a bit late. Slept at the administration center and told/ask them the next morning, they said we could pay when we go out of the park until 8pm. Stayed 3 days but we left at 7.15pm at laguna Amarga and it was already closed 🙄 so not sure of the working time.

Rangers don't really care and ask about anything. They knew that we arrived at night as we told them and no problem.
