Description

Off the side of the 4x4 only road from Batopilas to Urique. At the top of a ridge with incredible views! Amazing stars, and sunrise. About an hour or so on this very steep switch back road of lots of ups, then down, than up again you come to this crest and it kind of levels off. You will see where the tractor that made the road pushed some dirt and plants out of the way and it's pretty level. Just behind that spot we saw a way to drive into the bushes and hide from the road. One truck drove by before 6pm and we don't think he saw us. Silent after that. There are some nice clear stone areas where you can set up cooking, chairs and enjoy unobstructed views almost 360 degrees around. We left from Guachochi around 8am and felt confident that we would make it to Urique before sundown but blew a tire just outside of Guachochi and that took a surprising amount of time and we knew we would have to camp before making it to Urique. This entire drive here has been incredible. We also tried to get a hotel in Batopilas but non we found has secured parking for vehicles only motorcycles.
UPDATE: The rest of this road to Urique took us at least 6 hours from this camp spot. The second half of this journey was really ruff and slow going due to road conditions.

Only for tents. Cars have to park near the road! We drove to the next overlander point, which is much more better and has an amazing view.

Report Check-In

Couldn’t figure out the hidden parking, but parked next to the road and nobody came by. Road conditions were good. A little windy around dusk, but calmed down later. Great views!
