Description

It's a kind of leveled gravel parking lot front of different beaches. We liked it here because you can do easy scuba diving, see multi-coloured fish and hike the nearby (still steep) hill for a wonderful view. The place was really quiet during week days. Locals with loud stereos may frequent anytime.

Nous avons passé 3 nuits ici, endroit calme est proche de la mer! Bon spot dodo et sécuritaire, la police et la marine passe régulièrement! Il y a beaucoup d’américains dans le coins ! Je recommande

Quiet beautiful beach and cove. police patrols come through several times during the day and night

Beautiful spot on the cliff above the beach. Locals came by in the evening to have a beer and hang out with their friends but nobody played loud music or parked to close to us. It was a very quiet night. Past the compacted parking lot, the sand gets much deeper and softer, though we did see a 4x4 Sprinter that successfully drove across the sand and parked for the night

Update: While we were swimming on the beach this morning, the police came by and told the folks in the Sprinter that they could not park on the beach. There is a sign that says “Driving on the beach prohibited” due to sea turtles laying eggs on the beach. It looked like the couple in the Sprinter was able to work the situation out by paying a fine, though I never actually saw pesos change hands. Make sure you park behind the sign!

We stayed here for 6 nights, 5 days and had an amazing time. The longest we stayed anywhere! At different times there were some other international travelers in trailer, bus and yacht. But enough space for all of us. We met a wonderful Mexican family who was camping on the beach and were sort of immersed in their family for the week. Other locals visit on the weekend and play music, but nights are quiet and everybody we met was nice. Police patrols on and off and garbage is taken away. Totally safe.
There’s two beaches down this spot. Both relatively clean and calm. There’s some nature to take short hikes around and the bay is beautiful. There’s also a toilet at the shag of restaurant Coco el Loco in the beginning of the road, which they leave open outside of their opening hours, so that’s great.
San Carlos is mostly a lot of cultivated beaches, but this gem is still quite undeveloped, although the development is getting there. Get there before it’s too late and keep it clean!

Absolutely beautiful. We stayed two nights, almost no one on the beaches, the view is amazing BUT it seems ok for anyone to park right next to you and play very loud music. It’s fine with us during the day but tonight (Sunday), we had to driver to the parking lot further away (not level), because we were surrounded by 15 cars, trunks open and music so loud I swear our van was shaking 😅 Came back a 11pm and everyone had left tho but there were beer cans everywhere (that we of course picked)

Wow! The previous posts completely undersold this place in my opinion. We came to check it out and stayed 3 days! We basically had the beach to ourselves. There’s plenty of garbage cans around and therefore the beach is very clean.
. Locals come by every morning to pick up trash ( which we also did so they didn’t have much to do). We caught 3 fish for dinner. Snorkeling is great as the water is very clear and relatively warm and Mt Tatakawi looms in the back ground just waiting to be hiked. It’s a stunning view from way up there.
We loved it here. Police drove through each night and didn’t bother us at all.
Be sure to come with lots of water and food as there’s nowhere close to get any.

Guess our middle of the night request to evacuate last trip was related to Covid restrictions. We were all good here last night. Peaceful, fresh, amazing views and much cleaner than SF beach area.

FYI- Military & Elite Police came at 2am and made us move. This is why we always stay further away from the population. Past Los Manga 1/2/3 like Smart Goose says there are many spots on the ocean depending on your vehicle.

Beautiful views of bay, mountains with lots of parking areas, swimming, hiking, bike lanes to town, great restaurants, water refill in town, laundry in town.

Beautiful area with mountains & view of Playa. People party a lot here & play music, but mostly on weekends. Little food shacks up the road, hiking, swimming, bike lanes & trails. Beautiful place!

Parked my 36' class A here. Beaches themselves and water is really beautiful. parking lots are very trashy, cans are over full. Can be noisy at any time with locals and stereos. Intermittent RVs coming and going.

A very nice beach to spend a few days to catch your breath and reorganize. Go the the far left as you drive in as main beach area is very dirty. Be aware of glass buried in the sand. Great for swimming and snorkeling.

We followed the dirt track to the end and pitched up at the foot of the pointy mountain/volcano. Sea was warm and clear and beach was gritty and pebbles but the usual broken glass and plastic bottles. Still worth staying. Can't see the adjacent bay and houses so it feels quite. Steady flow of cars through out the evening (5 at any one time) but relatively quiet.

Very beautiful place. There was a couple of campers there. One HUGE 5th wheel over looking the beach. We did not stay. We went further past the last fishing village and out on the dirt roads north. Tons of wild camping out here. Quiet.
