Description

If you are going to Alaska or coming from south we strongly recommend stop in this place before cross to USA and make a revision in your rig or in your motorbike, or if you need a safe place or parking and stay a few days. We were traveling around USA for an year and didn't found a good place like this were you can follow the work in progress and really follow what they are doing. We stayed two weeks waiting for parts from Brazil and Ricardo (the owner and mechanic in charge) took care of everything we need, including picking up the parts in San Diego and bringing to the shop to finish the job. The price of his work is very good compared to USA and it was very worth it! Our rig is around 2.8 meters tall and fit inside the shop. Don't saw place for big rigs, but its better talk with him first. We did a big job there dismounting the whole front of our Land Rover Defender, change the timing belt, some gaskets, retainers, some bearings, complete cleaning of the radiator and cooling system etc. Don't waste your time in USA. Mexico is way cheaper and we found here the convenience of a quality job and access to parts from the USA or another country without bureaucracy. If you come and the gate is close call him or nock the door, he may be there, or call at + 52 6643289290. If you don't manage to come using coordinates here is the address: Circunvalación, Tomás Aquino 25-1, Altabrisa, 22420 Tijuana, Baja California. His email is [email protected]. Ricardo is building a room with beds, toilet and shower in order to receive travelers while visiting Tijuana at a reasonable prices. Don't be scared, Tijuana is nice, and you should visit and live the experience.

Latest Check-Ins

We came here 5 days to do these works on a Defender:
- change rocker cover gasket, fuel injector harness and injector seals
- change transfer box gaskets and seals
- change pivot gaskets and check wheel bearings

Ricardo is really a nice guy, you can work with him, and price are very reasonable compared to American rates.

Ricardo help us also to find a garage to weld a nut to the drain plug of our gearbox and also to find a garage to do the alignment of my tires.

During the works on the car we slept 2 nights in hotel Salazar (1000 Pesos for a triple bed room), and for the next 3 nights Ricardo rent us a small flat near the garage for a better price.

We have contacted Ricardo 1 month and half before to come here, by this way we have ordered the parts before to come and Ricardo book a week to do the work.

I warmly recommend this address. It is the first time that I meet such a friendly and professional mechanic!

Report Check-In

The owner Ricardo is very knowledgeable, super friendly and has fair prices.

His shop has a height limit of about 2.5m or so so might not be able to accommodate big rigs

Report Check-In

Very helpful man. We called him and he referred us to Isaac for the work we needed (also here on iOverlander). When we needed something else, he gave us more recommendations.

Ricardo, the owner, is an excellent person and a great mechanical professional. He always kept the costs low. He even took me to San Diego to several yonke looking for parts. The account has a post office box to receive purchases in San Isidro. Unbeatable experience, we repair our Mercedes benz t1 1983. He knows about old European cars too.

Ricardo is the best. We couldnt get our 21ft Motorhome in his garage, but he call and fix everyhting in advance with his friend Isaac, so he has waiting for us when we get there! He knows what he is doing, and his friends too! 100% recommended!

We definitely recommend this mechanic! Richardo is not only super friendly and just a great person, he could probably fix everything. He knows what he is doing, finds your problem and tries to fix it. And if he doesn't fix it himself (for example a new muffler), he connects you with the right person, that does. He is very fast, accurate and has fair prices. We are very happy, we followed our friend's recommendation and got our car fixed by him!

One of the best mechanic we know, Ricardo is very careful in his job, patient for to explain details of the service and helpful if you need informations about where to buy parts, tools, etc. He speak english. Reazonable price. We recomend✌
