According to a local, the entire road along the beach is not a safe place to stay during nights. Be aware.

a man from Bermuda got rob his car too. the man stole his walet with all his documents an his celphone too. he told me that two girl got rob in the nigth too. and the person stole documents and celphone. so its not safe.
dont stay here. even in jaco dont.

Pasan muchas personas drogadas y alcoholizados con mala pinta.

eso, no lo recomiendo, en general Jacó es conocido por esto.
terrible experiencia.

nos quedamos 5 días acá, super tranquilo durante la semana, el fin de semana más gente, pero igual es tranquilo durante la noche... cruzando la calle hay un hotel, Bahía azul, el guardia nos paso agua... Super recomendado

We camped with a canvas tent on the beach.
Place frequented by locals until sunset and quiet at night.
Tables and benches available all along the beach and under the trees.
Nice place to watch the sunset.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 pleasant and uneventful nights, but on the third night he was followed by a grey audi SUV while out alone on a walk. The driver was a middle aged white man, slightly greying with noticeably large lips, licence plate DLC-640. He trailed my husband down the entire main strip, and pulled up beside him with the window down several times before my husband was able to hide. The driver circled the block twice looking for him, and then returned to slowly driving up and down the strip, making U-turns each time he reached the end. We tried to make a police report but all the cops did was scribble his licence plate on a clearly trash piece of paper.

The nights that we did stay were lovely, and the beach has gorgeous waves with harmless manta rays that like to play in the surf with people if conditions are right. There is also an outdoor shower at the end of this street and regular police patrols. It's absolutely worth a visit, but if you choose to stay after dark please be especially cautious.

You can camp anywhere along this beach front road! Back onto the beach! Plenty of other campers set up. Street well lit with street lights, other accommodations across street - felt safe staying here. Used the facilities at the room2board hostel down the street, bought a beer and used facilities - including pool!! Great spot to camp!

this is a very safe Street in front of the beach that is patrolled regularly by the police. we spent three nights here and had no troubles. it gets busy in the mornings and evenings with surfers but by sun down it's empty and had Street lights to keep it well lit. there are no bathrooms but the hostel Room 2 Board which is right behind this spot is open to the public and will let you use the bathroom or pool if you get a drink from the bar
