Description

Joseph Whidbey Park is currently closed for camping, but you can still very much stay at the gravel lot. People still hiking along the coast. I've stayed several times now. not usually two nights in a row and I arrive to watch the sunset and move on in the morning

Small gravel lot with oceanview. Three or four small vans fit. We stayed here for one night enjoying the sunset. Close to state park.

Latest Check-Ins

Spent the night, didn't get bothered or knocked.

Outhouse in the closed-for-winter park (2 minute walk up the beach) was open, and stocked with toilet paper.

GOT A KNOCK!!!

2 AM knock from the Sheriff, kindly (mis)informed us that the lot was in the state park that closed at dusk. Didn't want to discuss property lines or ownership at 2 AM so we left.

Uploaded a screenshot of the property map from the county that shows most of the lot is not in the state park. Who owns the lot is unknown, probably that county that would say it's only day use. Camp at your own risk. People seemed to have better luck Street parking.

Report Check-In

As described, beautiful place to see sunset and spend the night. I came back 3 different nights.

Report Check-In

As described, small gravel turn out just off the road. Space for about 6 cars, our 28’ Class C fit. Excellent view of the water, 3 bars Verizon, 2 bars T-Mobile. There is road noise. Hike the beach to the park, drinking water and pit toilet there.

Report Check-In

Nice level gravel lot right on the water.
Stayed at the state park during the day (discover pass required) and then pulled in here just after sunset.

No issues, but it's right next to a house so be mindful.

Report Check-In

neat spot, small parking lot. gorgeous sunset and sunrise. on a busy road, parking lot was also busy.

Report Check-In

Stayed one lovely night with no issues. Great views in the morning and a chill trail to walk my dogs. I was lucky and didn’t have a lot of other dog walkers during our stay — my dogs are very reactive, so walking them can be difficult. I imagine the off season is playing to our favor.

Report Check-In

Stayed one night and wasn't bothered by anyone. I was the only one here, although as others have said, some people did pull in late at night for a short time. Great spot for the sunset and for breakfast by the sea

Report Check-In

Really busy on Thursday evening and night w loud road noise. Nice views tho.

Beautiful spot! gorgeous sunset, falling asleep to the sound of the waves, and the best thing of all, no one kicked us out. There were a few other vans staying the night but everyone was quiet and it was the best sleep we've had in awhile. Pet friendly, lots of rocky beach to walk on, right next to the trail for the park. No trash bins so pack it in pack it out. Keep this spot clean and available, it's the best option on the island.

Report Check-In

This spot can fit many vans or small RVs. I was the only one who camped overnight on a busy Saturday so I was a little worried about getting told to leave but I wasn't bothered through the night. Lots of cars pulling in and out late into the evening.

Report Check-In

Photos of the area added on this one, since they didn't add before.

Report Check-In

Stayed here last night. The ocean was really loud last night, f that's your thing you'll love it! Make sure you keep this area clean so they don't put up no parking signs. There are littlenrabbits running around the trail, keep your dog on a leash (as the sign says at the beginning) especially if your dog likes to chase them..like mine does. We would stay here again. Added photos.

Good spot for one night getting off the coupeville ferry headed north. Right on the ocean with a walking trail along the water. Good amount of traffic and popular spot for walkers in the morning. But over nice spot for the night. 2 bars Verizon

Report Check-In

OK spot. Right by the water which is nice, but lots of cars come in + out during the day and quite a bit of traffic from the road. 1-2 bars Verizon. Stayed 1 night with no issues.

Report Check-In

Stayed there last night, and loved it. BEAUTIFUL sunset spot, lots of locals pass through to watch but had no problem with the vans. There were three of us overnight and had no issues. Just listening to the sound of waves and lots of naval jet traffic after sunset.

Report Check-In

flat pull out parking lot, quiet after 11pm with great views of ocean and mountains. nearby bathrooms, lots of trails.

Report Check-In

The road, a gravel parking lot, and then the ocean a few yards away.
I was the only one here. I don't see any toilets, maybe it's somewhere in the park.

Report Check-In

We slept overnight with no problems. Great location to stay cool in crazy hot weather. The lack of parking signs is inviting.

Report Check-In

The park is open again, as is the toilet. We only stayed at the gravel spot though. Nice views. But I must say it wasn’t a very restful night as there’s people coming and going all night (monday night..). The street is not super busy but still quite noisy. Wouldn’t want to come back here but since there isn’t much to choose from here, I don’t know if this is one of the better options.

This place is permanently closed, With signs stating so. :(

Report Check-In

Great spot to park and sleep. Room for 5-7 cars I’d say. A few people came by in the evening to visit the park or hang in their car in the morning but it was all good. Super windy the night we stayed.

Report Check-In

Nice spot. But cops ask is to leave.
Only parking from sunrise to sunset unfortunately

Report Check-In

Came here during the day. See a sign that says park hours 8am-dusk. Another pulloff a mile or so south of here says day use only. Also don't see any bathrooms nearby, although there probably are at joseph whidbey state park. Nice beach access and state park.
