Description

A great hostel right in the town of Banos run by very friendly Argentinians. There is a level grassy parking area with room for several vehicles and tents. 10.- for a dorm, 6.- pp for camping, both including breakfast - and free dinner from Mon to Wed ! (sign-up for dinner on FB until 7pm) They have a few friendly dogs and cats, pet friendly. The entrance is kind of narrow and a tight turn, so big rigs may have a problem getting in, low clearance vehicles might scratch, no height restrictions. Spotty wifi.

Is a beatifull place, payed $8 with breakfast, clean, and confortable, i played billar in the bar

What everyone else said, + yoga room!! With mats and beautiful mountain views. $9/night for dorm room + “breakfast” of bread/banana/coffee/tea/juice/milk/oats

Report Check-In

Stayed here for three nights for USD 6pp/night.
Pros: Excellent WiFi, nice community area with pool table, hot water, good breakfast, good location.
Cons: Four dogs so loads of dog poo in the parking lot (wouldn't pitch a tent here) and you have to use the 12 people dorm to shower and they ask you to only shower between 12-5pm. As a camper they treat you a little like a 2nd class guest which is, in our opinion, not really justified as the cheapest dorm bed is only USD 8pp/night.
Overall it is a good base to explore Baños but a little on the expensive side for what you get.

The place! Great location and cozy, facilities and big common area, smart tv, free pc with internet & WiFi, books exchange, guide, tourists information and a lot of tips of ecuador! Check it!

Great place, great hostels! Good vibes...

This place looks good on IO, so we went here.

For big trucks is place on garden - garden which dogs use like “toilet”, shits everywhere.
Max width of car is 2,20 m, place for 2 - 3 that big trucks.

We can use shower in some dorm room - it was strange for us and for people in this room too. Toilet we can use on reception, but reception was closed during night...
Internet was not good, works just some hours and it was really slow.

Price was $5 per person for night and included b/fast (croissants, jam, butter, banana, coffee/tea, jugos naturales con aqua), you can have eggs/omellet for $1.
This place is good for backpackers and for people who spend time here in room, not good for overlanders with campervan/motorhome/etc. So we can not recomended this place.

*Name has changed!* We looked all over for a "Backpacker Los Pinos", but it seems to now be located on one of the main squares. The name of this place is along the lines of "Great Hostel". It is a pretty great hostel and the camping area in the back is a quiet, green garden. Wifi works in your rig and breakfast is included.

Great place to park in Banos. Our popup truck camper fit just fine, but I don't think you could squeeze anything much bigger in.

Great place, lovely hosts. The wifi was a bit slow at times but that happens in Baños in general I've heard. It was a tight squeeze for our rv to get in/out but we slowly made it and are happy we did.

Breakfast included in the price. And a short walk to the center plaza & hot baths. Recommended.

Report Check-In

One of the best and most comfy hostels I've ever been! Very friendly staff and a good breakfast included. For 6$ p.p. for a dorm well recommended! Only the wifi could work better

Best Hostel i have ever been!

Nice stuff- especially good for cyclers to store your bikes while going further to the dschungl for some days

Report Check-In

Nice place but the owner told me that they don't allow tents anymore ! (but is still fine with overlanders) I insisted a bit and he let pitch my tent in a corner of the parking lot for 5$ (incl breakfast etc), which was fine apart for a couple of dogs using the same corner as their bathroom... If camping I would advise to find somewhere else, though the place is quite nice

Report Check-In

Very good hostel, there is a lot of young backbackers and the wifi is bad, however we camped there in our van, we were charged $6pp which included bathroom, hot showers, breakfast (everyday of the week) and dinner (only monday, tuesday and wednesday evening, the other evenings of the week there are other offers such as free cocktails but we didn't stay long enough to try).
As stated before a pretty high car clearance is needed to get inside the garden, most vans should be able to get in but it's unlikely for big RVs.

Indeed a nice place to camp very close to the centre of Baňos. We paid 6$ pppn and this included a nice buffet-style breakfast (fresh homemade croissants, butter&jam, oats, fruit, coffee&tea and fresh juice and you can upgrade with eggs or pancakes). Mon-Thue-Wed includes dinner as well but don't expect too much AND they serve it at 9pm. We didn't have to subscribe on FB, they had a piece of paper to write down your name (probably the internet was too slow to go on FB). They do something on other nights as well. Wifi was terrible and non-existent half of the time. Toilet in the bar is open 24h but you can only shower between 11am-3pm. Staff comes and goes, they were quite friendly when we were there.
We are with a motorcycle but there was another couple camping with a van and it took them an hour to get in the driveway. Should be much easier with a high clearance vehicle.

Report Check-In

Very much a backpackers youth hostel with a busy bar and common area. $9 for a comfy warm dorm bed included breakfast and dinner Mon-Wed. Lots of parking space on the lawn. Wifi is really really bad however.

Report Check-In

Despite of all the bad reviews I had a very pleasant time here. The staff was very friendly and helpful, good prices for tours and activities if you are into that. Camping for cars and tents was available at 6.- pp, including breakfast and dinner! (Dinner is at 9pm, you have to sign up for it on Facebook until 7pm, you can do that before you arrive, just search for "great hostels backpackers" and go to the event page) Clean lawn to camp on, no height restrictions but low clearence vehicles might scratch at the gate. The wifi indeed is horrible but they told me they just ordered some new equipment, so hopefully that should change.

We tried this place tonight, despite all the negative reviews on overlander, and found that they don't allow "camping" anymore unless the entire place is full. Otherwise it's $18 per car, which is same as two beds in a dorm. The staff was extremely unpleasant, and rude to us despite the hostel being empty. we would recommend parking near the kids park, for free.

Report Check-In

Comfortable hostel but yard where you can park is a bit tatty. Friendly staff and convenient for town. Wifi access is terrible.

Report Check-In

Parking on the parking lot of the hostel in between dog poo. Water did not work in the morning so we thought we just shower later. When we came back the not so friendly desk lady told us that now we can't shower now because our "camp-time" was over. When we ask how much we had to pay just to take a shower she only repeated the same on and on in a really rude manner. We probably would have even stayed another night but since the lady didn't even seem to care to be friendly we left.

Report Check-In

We squeezed in our extended Sprinter van, but barely. Low clearance vehicles might scratch the bottom at the entrance. The grassy yard is pretty level and was clean when we arrived. Kitchen for cooking. Wifi seemed to be very moody, but there were lots of people connected to it. Still $6 pp if you sleep in your vehicle, $9 if you sleep in dorms. Very close to town center. Pet friendly which is a major thing for us. Showers in dorms.

Report Check-In

The parking place is not to bad, but the service of the staff is one of the worst I've ever seen, the wifi is bad even at the reception and the hot water stops in the middle of your shower. The owner is kind and ready to give any info, hope he will get a better staff soon.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay, we paid 6$ pp to camp with dinner and breakfast included. Nice common area and kitchen for rainy days. Ok wifi and showers can be used in one of the rooms so have to ask the key at reception.

Report Check-In

Real backpackers place, nice bar restaurant. Kitchen for your food. Prices in restaurant high, but I guess it is their business model.. Close to centre and thermal bath.

Report Check-In

Is currently closed for maintenance - don't know for how long.

Report Check-In

nice place with everything you could need. although the shower schedule is weird. laundry is now $3.50 per bag.
take care with the dogs. the black dog bit a girl while we were there and he barked and growled at us a couple of times.

Report Check-In

Nice hostel, dormbed in dorm with 5 beds is $10 in low season or $15 in high season, bathroom for each dorm with hot water, private room at $15 or $25 per person, breakfast included is very good, good wifi, bar with restaurant, in walking distance of the baños. Safe parking, not possible to camp in a tent

Report Check-In

$6/person includes a basic breakfast. Laundry available for $3 a load. Toilets in main reception. Showers are only allowed from 11-3 in one of the dorms.

Report Check-In

We stayed at the parking lot, 6 USD/person including breakfast (you cannot cancel the breakfast). Hot showers in the dormitory, electricity, WiFi available. Just parking for a night was 6 USD. The parking lot was a little dirty and ugly, but for a hostel very, very quiet at night. Access to the parking only for small vehicles available (we have 2,30 m width including side mirrors and 6 m length).

Report Check-In

Probably one of very few places in town where you can car camp, have services like showers, toilets and laundry and still be within an easy walk of downtown. Paid $6 per adult and $6 for our 6 year old son but it did include breakfast.

A great hostel right in the town of Banos run by very friendly Argentinians. There is a level grassy parking area with room for several vehicles and tents. They have a few friendly dogs and cats, and this is a very pet friendly place. We had no problems with our three small dogs. The entrance is kind of narrow and a tight turn, so big rigs may have a problem getting in. We made it with our full size ford ambulance van. Hot showers and good wifi, water. Bar and restaurant onsite. Laundry for $3 per load. Camping is $6 per person and includes breakfast.

Report Check-In

Very relaxed hostel with parking in the backyard. Clean toilet and cold shower. Guest kitchen. Beautiful lounge with pool table, TV, sofas, DVDs. Free WIFI. Opportunity to do laundry. Cute Argentinian owners. Very narrow doorway (Caution: the cabin tilts up because the driveway is wrong).

Right in the center and at the baths "Baños de la Virgen". Starting point for great hikes in the mountains of Baños. Excellent multigrain bread is available in the cafeteria Rico Pan at the corner of Ambato and Maldonado.

(Including breakfast: bread, jam, oatmeal, juice, coffee)
