Description

a few meters before Puente de dios right side of river entrance. just cross the bridge and park aside under the tree.We parked to do the trekking and stay for the night without any problem. we got charge 120 with guide to do the trek but it was worth it. Is quite a challenge!!

It looks like this has become the main entrance now. Official 'Sierra Gorda' sign with it. Does not really look like a scam anymore, but the pricing policy is weird and pretty unfriendly for travellers. Basically you pay 150p for 1-5 people and 300p for 6-10, etc. I tried to convince multiple people in a friendly way that this makes it ridiculously expensive to visit with 2 people but nobody would budge. They said we could wait for more people to arrive though and then enter together... which I thought was really stupid since to me it doesn't make any difference if 2 cars enter at the same time or not. We didn't want to reward their stupid system and turned around. My advice would be to do the same untill they come to their senses.

didn't stay here for the night, but we got scammed here to do the hike to puente de dios. they charged us $150 for two to hike in with a guide, who just walked along the well established path right in front of us until we got there and then left. they told us there was no option to hike without a guide and they wouldn't give me an entrance ticket or receipt that showed the price, no signs anywhere with prices. I asked someone inside and they paid $30pp, so prices change depending on your looks/car. just park down the river somewhere else and walk in from the other side of the river for free. there is a "tourist spot" on this app that explains where to park and walk in for free.

during this time of year you don't get wet unless you choose to get into the cold water in the tunnel at the end, in which case you go in about knee deep.
