Description

Nice grounds with smaller sites, high above the valley, about 4 miles from Wells, NV. There is also an exceptional beautiful hike up to Smith Lake at 9000 feet , about 2 hours up from the trailhead at the campground.

What a beautiful location! Cool and breezy. Hiking trails to boot. FCFS is free at the moment. I real oasis in the desert

Lovely campsite, free at the moment posted on notice board. Patchy to poor AT&T signal. Pit toilet and water (boil for drinking) available. Great walk up to Smith’s Lake.

I just stopped in to find this camp site closed for the season (10/15/22). The good news the Angel Creek Campground just a few miles lower down the road is open.

What a lovely find. Angel Lake in Deeth, NV (Wells, NV) off of I-80. Elevation is 8380 feet and this campground (reservable on recreation.gov and also has first come first serve sites) is quiet, quaint and overall and excellent value at $18/$9 with American The Beautiful/Access passes) per night. No electricity or trash, but pit toilets and water (sign says to boil water before drinking). The campsites are tucked up just above Angel Lake which is guarded by beautiful mountains that I had a hard time finding my way up to (but I will!) Temperate weather (here three nights in early September) including some rain was wonderful. Overall very impressed. If you like quiet, small and lovely surroundings, you might enjoy Angel Lake.

Take exit 351 — not the steep dirt road Google suggests.
~27 sites well spaced next to a small glacial lake where others were fishing. Vault toilets, no trash, shared water spigots. $18/night. Had enough cell coverage for voice; data sporadic.
12 miles to Wells.
