Description

If you are willing to wait and can catch a cylinder delivery truck before they go in the yard. They can take your cylinders in and have them filled. The yard will not sell propane or cylinders to the public directly. Worked fine for us. 1 hour process. At end of this street.

Pas de chance pour moi aujourd’hui, j’ai demandé au 2 entreprises de gaz et a un camion, un échec avec ma bouteille Américaine. Peut être la difficulté a bien demander en espagnol.

We managed to fill up thanks to Fabien from the campsite La finca le jardin des délices 30 minutes from Cartagène which can compensate a truck if you warn him and spend the night there. Very practical!

We were unable to fill up our US fixed tank here. They say they don't have the right connections

Report Check-In

Waited 30 min for a truck and they took our US cylinders. Waited 2 hours to get them back. 100,000 for both. Was tricky but ultimately worked.

Report Check-In

This is a tricky place to get Propane filled.
You can not go into the yard. Only trucks coming in to exchange tanks are allowed.
At 12:30 all the trucks come in for exchange. We flagged down one truck, we were just waiting on the side of the small dirt road, he took our US style tanks and came back 2 hours later with them filled for 100cop

Report Check-In

Went here to fill our propane. They seem fine to do it, but said it would take 2-3 hours by the time it was done due to waiting for truck, and then waiting for truck to exit again. We know people that did wait and filled here, but we drove on and filled elsewhere along our route.

It took us about 2 hours to get our American bottles filled. As mentioned before you have to catch the “small” truck loaded with bottles to go in and they will refill.

Report Check-In

30,000COP for 4.5#. Definitely way over charged, but no room for arguing as they won’t fill it otherwise.

Took an hour.

Report Check-In

As described. It’s a crapshoot on when the cylinder tank truck will show up so you just have to hope One comes soon. When I first got here they told me it would be half an hour. One hour later I went to get my tanks because I was going to leave and he said no just give it five more minutes. And sure enough five more minutes went by and the cylinder truck showed up. Took my tanks in and whole process was normal for South America. It allowed me to get my camper back in shape after I picked it up from the Port that morning. Super friendly guard.

Report Check-In

Filled two US bottles that were empty due to shipping. 1st stop after getting out of the port.

Report Check-In

We could not get a fixed propane tank filled here.

Report Check-In

We were not able to get a fixed tank filled and were told that it would not be possible in Cartagena.

Report Check-In

no need to come early. some trucks coming around to 12-13.00h. gave them our german bottle. after 1h waiting we got it back:20kg for 40cop. worked fine, we just came early and waited loooooong

Report Check-In

filled our 2 USA propane tanks on Saturday afternoon. No problem.

Report Check-In

We were eventually able to get propane here after trying numerous other locations. Waited about 45 mins...they took the cylinder from us at the front gate and returned it full about 20 mins later. We paid 45,000 pesos for a 6lb cylinder (American dual-thread valve). Seemed expensive but it was the only option we could find on a Saturday at 4pm!!

Asked guard to fill our tank, he told us to catch a truck on the way in. He said one should arrive within the hour. He even said he’d tell us when they arrived if we weren’t paying attention. We waited 10 minutes. It seemed like the driver looked to the security guard for the “okay”, so it’s probably worth asking guard first, in case the driver needs convincing. We paid what the driver asked— 70 COP to fill one 10lb tank. Didn’t want to risk negotiating.(Hopefully he’s sharing the wealth with the super friendly guards.) Six trucks arrived between 2-3:30 on a Saturday.

Report Check-In

Waited about 30 minutes for the truck to arrive. Came at 2pm, not sure if that's a regular time. Put our tanks in his truck and he drove into the yard to fill them.

Report Check-In

This is the only option for propane that we could find. We arrived well before 10:00 and waited close to 3 hours for a truck to arrive that would take our tanks in and fill them. 71,000 cop for 2 twenty lb USA tanks. Speak to the guard and he can let you know when the truck that helps overlanders will be arriving. Please tip the guard to keep the way greased for future overlanders! Total time waiting around was 3 1/2 hours.
