Description

Really nice campsites at the Limpopo River front in a private reserve that did not cost us any extra since we camped there. The reception area is some kilometers away from the campsites. Nice braai places, water and nice toilet and shower block with hot water when there is fire under the boiler. In the morning we saw hippo, antelopes, warthogs and baboons at the river. Plenty of elephant dungs in the camping area, none of them visited us, but we saw elephants on our drive out of the reserve again. 236 pula

6 campsites on bank of limpopo. Shaded level with tap. Individual shower basin loo per site. Clean. Firewood provided by Isaac.

Enjoyed the quietness - as it was only me.

I personally find the camp rates slightly overpriced
with 210 P or 280 rand per person. Plus levy for Bots Tourism (which they didn’t charge ?!?)
There is no power at the campsite - you even have to bring your own toiletpaper. Extra charge for firewood- even the whole farm is just full of Mopane.

The camp helper Isaac is keeping it all clean and neat.

Watch out of scorpions !

Payment cash only.

I enjoyed more Longwope Farmhouse campsite, about 25 km west. It wasn’t on ioverlander - I did add it ..

The accommodation part of the farm (campsite, lodge etc.) is on the market up for sale.

Woke up with 2 elephants right at my small window just eating! What a feeling. The campsite is great with all you need. 210ppp.

A calm and beautiful place directly at the Limpopo riverbank . All campsites have private ablutions. Their is one little house (bushcamp) to rent with a very fair price (300 P/ppn), 2 bed rooms for 4 people. There were a lot of animals in the area. We got a perfect map to try the drives and watch the animals at the pans and waterholes (large herds of elephants, even wild dogs).

Lovely campsite with private ablutions with hot water. Right at the shore of the Limpopo River which was flowing atm so you could hear hippos grunting and see lots of birds. Campsite nr.3 is the best — and the only one which could fit our Defender with Icarus roof conversion conveniently and straight at the riverfront. Very peaceful and private as there are lots of trees and bushes in-between the campsites. We were here for 1 and then 2 nights in-between visiting northern Tuli. Didn’t go on game drives inside this private reserve now but we saw lots of elephants on the drive to the campsite. You can go on self-drives, though, if you want to. Nice place to rest, really close to Platjan border to RSA. If you come from the South, you’ll first come to a gate that is locked and the signs are not very clear, but just drive about 4 km forward (not 3 km, like the sign says) and you’ll find a new sign for the reception, turning left.

The Limpopo River Lodge has a superb campsite right in the banks of the Limpopo river. The campsite is 5 km from Reception and needs a 4x4 to access. There are 7 pitches, each with their own ablution facilities with very clean toilets and showers (hot and cold running water). Each pitch has its own braai and boma. We were the only ones camping but felt safe in the fenced campsite. Abundant bird life. The campsite is 5 km away from chalets (for 4 people) and rondavels (for 2). Alan at reception was very helpful and gave us a map of the reserve. Braai wood is available. No electricity, signal or Wi-Fi. No drinking water, so bring your own. Amazing waking up in our rooftop tent overlooking the Limpopo. Nearest shopping is Bobonong (100 km in Botswana) or Alldays (50 km from the Platjan border crossing in South Africa). 210 pula pppn plus 5% is using a credit card.

Fantastic. Highly recommend. We spent 2 nights here having crossed the South African border at Platjan.
Clean and tidy camp and ablutions. Spacious private camps.
Mischievous hippos galore. What a treat.

We camped one night at the campsite on the banks of the Limpopo. It was beautiful!
The site is on a large area where animals are free to roam and as it was dry season they took full advantage of the waterholes.
The actual campsite is fenced but has a very wild feeling.
Each pitchbhas a braai stand, water tap and own ablutions with 2 toilets and 2 showers with hot water.

What made this place extra special were the staff, in particular the manager who went out of his way to help us when we had mechanical issues with our vehicle.

Definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the Tuli block

a wonderful peaceful place at the Limpopo River, close to Platjan Border. you don't hear anything but hippos and birds. please bring all food, water and lights. there is no electricity at all.

Reception was empty when we arrived and no phone numbers on any signs. After we made ourselves some lunch the manager arrived after having had to run an errand. We were the only people in the whole campsite and Lodge area. 360P for 2 of us. Firewood 25 for a bundle. They don't offer game drives but have 120km of roads you can drive on. Isaac is very proud of his campsite and keeps ablutions spotless and sites well swept! Flushing toilets but BYO toilet paper.

What an amazing spot to spend a night! Quiet except for wild sounds. Heard hyena, jackal and more. Tracks of all kinds from small to large. Watched vervets raid the weaver nests across the river 😢 price now ZAR195pppn a bit steep. Watch for geckos in the toilets. That’s in the fixture you sit down on.

Beautiful, quiet camp site by Limpopo River. Staff friendly and helpful. We were in site 4, ablutions were clean and hot water from donkey oiler, sites 3 and 5 would also be good we could not hear the water pump as we were far enough away. Excellent value for 122 BWP ppn with game drives too. Compared to last night at Goo-Moremi Gorge at 200 BWP ppn and noisy camp site and far too many rules, I preferred Limpopo River Lodge.

Report Check-In

There are 6 more or less private sites with own shower, toilet, tap and braaiplace. Some are not practical for rooftents or popup tents. We choosed site 6 because on 3 and 5 there where noisy southafricans. As soon as we set up at about 5.30pm at the other side of the Limpopo (RSA) a waterpump was activated (probably for watering the fields) and was running all night and still was on as we left next day 10am!! The ablution on site 6 is poor and the price 122Pppn or 187Rppn is in our opinion too much. If your are looking for quietness we cannot recommend this place.

Still all perfect!

Lovely sites with braai, fireplace and watertap with great view on the river. Spots might be too tight if you have a larger vehicle... Lots of birds, small game, hippos and elephants. Small pool at lodge which they allow you to use if not too busy. Price is P122 pppn.
