Something not right?

Description

Several (8) palaba type huts, and even more spaces without the huts, each with picnic table and fire pit/grill overlooking reservoir. Huge Grassy area, lots of space. Good for all vehicles. Nobody here in the height of summer! Clean pit toilets (2). Can hear road a bit but for FREE its great. There's a water pump. I drank it. Feeling fine this morning!

Very pleasant place to spend the night. Right on the lake. Only one other rig there, very quiet. You can hear the highway just a bit, but it was not bothersome. Vault toilet very clean, freshly painted and pumped. FYI there are many other similar campgrounds along the north shore of the lake.

What a great stop! The lake is so pretty and the grounds are very well kept. The road coming in was not awful, but prepare for 3 miles of washboard dirt roads. A lot of space for a lot of campers, but I was all alone this time around. there are very clean bathrooms, trash cans, and many little shelters, picnic tables and fire rings. and FREE. Fair warning though, the bugs will be everywhere. I could not keep my doors open as so many mosquitos would fly in. But, this is right on a lake so I understand! The shores of the lake on this side look really shallow and mucky though, so I did not get in with my paddleboard. So much land to camp on, so even if you think you are arriving too late to grab a spot, I am sure you will find somewhere to spend the night. I also had TMobile 5G connection the whole time.

Great free camping. The 3 sided shelters here were an absolute gift during warmer weather.
A campground host came by to grab our tag number and welcomed us. The host is located at the Beaverhead Campground. Trash cans, CLEAN vault toilets and water pump. The pump works in the summer. Busy on weekends, but today is Monday and there is only 2 other people and we're spread out. Access to the water for kayaks and swimming. No boat ramp at this location. You can hear very little highway traffic. We have excellent cell coverage. Tmobile

Nice winter stop along I15. Surprisingly the pit toilets were unlocked during the winter. Unsurprisingly, we were the only ones here. 5F when we woke up on March 6.

Good spot. Couldn't get the water pump to work after pumping 30 times or so. A few folks with trailers, a ton of space here. Water is very low right now but it's cool to see how the land might have once been before we built dams. Stocked toilets.

I'm at the Lone Tree Campground on the Clark Canyon Reservoir, managed by the Bureau of Land Reclamation. Little bit of false advertising, cause I counted 5 trees ;) , but we do have a winner here folks. Stunning views, on the water, full sun for my solar and surrounded by mountains. Right now maybe 5 other occupied RVs. There are 3 or 4 stashed here with no one in them....maybe to hold a spot for the holiday? (no one likes a cheater). Plenty of open space and pretty spread out. Just my style. So this area is pretty historically significant. This is the area of Camp Fortunate, where Lewis and Clark met up with the Lemhi Shoshoni Tribe and where Sacagawea was reunited with her people. Unfortunately the dam was built in the early 1960s and all that history now sits underwater......guess it wasn't THAT significant at the time........

The Reservoir is pretty large, about 6,000 acres and is known for its excellent rainbow and brown trout fishing. There are 7 or 8 other campgrounds around the the lake, all managed by the Bureau. All but one are free, and that one is 30 bucks but they have hook ups. From what I read, the other camps are alot busier than this one and 2 others because they have boat ramps. So if you are not fishing/boating...pick one without a ramp, cause it will likely be less crowded.

As for this camp....no hookups. Fresh water is available via a hand pump. Vault toilets scattered throughout. A majority of the spots have a picnic table (some covered) and a fire ring with a grill attachment. They have a row of 8 old school Oscar the grouch style trash cans 🗑 too. 14 day max stay. Not sure how many spots there are...maybe 25? But there are huge open areas to park and set up in if needed. If you need to dump, the pay campground (Lewis and Clark campground...10 miles away on the north shore) will let you for 10 bucks. No OTA TV. VWZ and ATT internet very good, with ATT winning once again with blazing fast 46 mbps down /14 up. VZW is 18/5.

Peaceful lake front. There is another camp area about a mile or so west of these coordinates (continue on the road) that is farther from the interstate and free. There is another camp site across the lake, near the dam, but it is closer to the interstate.
