A campsite in a beautiful park...Electricity and water at the sites have been turned off by the city so as not to compete with paying campsites in town. Dump station for $5 donation encouraged. Restrooms also available across the park...max. 3 nights stay within 30 days...enjoy!!! Donations are encouraged.

Great place to camp for the night, two other RV’s here and a handful of tents. It felt very safe as police went through once and awhile, also some of the lights are left on. at 3am the train went by blasting its horn, honestly not the worst thing ever but just beware of it! Also a very cute little town with some nice shops within walking distance of the campground.Report Check-In
Very nice donation only town camp. 2 restrooms , both open. No soap though so bring your own. Level spots. Verizon cell service. Nice and quiet and safe. Loved it here!Report Check-In
Loca park with about 10 gravel pull out areas and some tent camping sites. You can stay here up to 3 days with no issues. Police drives by around 6 pm. They have flushing toilets but nothing else. 2 bars Verizon 2 bars AT&T. You should be able to fill your water tanks from the hose connections but they are not near the camping sites.Report Check-In
Surprised at how nice this is. Restrooms are locked. Slept in the SUV, didn't check water or electric connections. Train tracks across street from the park but only heard one train during the night. Great ATT 4GLTE.Report Check-In
Great pitstop to camp. We were trying to get to Cheyenne but the highway was closed to high winds and found this camp in Wheatland. Not far out of the way, nice campsites and completely free for up to 3 days. Donations are encouraged though. a few sites have power for RVs, also free and a separate area for tent camping.Report Check-In
Stopped solely to fill up water. Lots of spigots around the park to choose from. The one we used across from the RV spots had good pressure. Used our 25 ft hose to reach. A shorter hose than that wouldn't reach probably unless you can find a closer spigot. Sites seem pretty decent and the park seems clean. Everything is as described from others.
There is a park donations box! Please drop a donation in to keep parks like this free and operational for everyone. It's not everyday you come across a park with free water/dump station and camping!!Report Check-In
Totally legit little campground, not rest area, not a wide spot in the road, a campground: Lewis Park in Wheatland, WY.
Lewis Park is a free, city run public park with different activity areas, like a basketball court, soccer, Frisbee golf and has several sites for RVs as well as a designated area for tent camping. See above link for photos.
There is potable water, farm-style spigots in both RV and tent areas. I filled up my tank, running the water through a 3-stage filter, and had plenty of pressure.
Cell quality varies. My van has ATT wifi, coverage was very good. Verizon cellular was good enough to get online but could be a lot better and my back up phone, Mint (T Mobile) barely but did, get online. The camp sites are oriented north/south and my Starlink had a clear view of the northern sky with real good wifi.
Be aware however, horses are not allowed in the park and, a train went by at 9:35 am on a week day - there are a lot of trains in Wyoming, that's how the rest of the country gets all it's stuff - so if you're a late sleeper, there is that. So, leave your horses at home and get up to enjoy the Wyoming sunrise.
PS: as a public venue, Lewis Park gets regular patrolling by police. Not a bad thing.Report Check-In
I live in this town.
The electricity and water have been turned off at the sites by the city board to encourage the travelers to go to other local RV businesses. 😕
Although it’s free, they ask for donations.
As stated, the electricity and water are sites is locked up. Otherwise, sites are nice, fairly level, some have tables and grills There is a large grassy area next to the road where some big rigs were parked. There are water spigots scattered around, and there is a dump station across the street. And it's all free!Report Check-In
Nice free location to stop over. The bathroom is a little walk across the grass near the mini golf. There was only two other vehicles there when we got in. There was more than enough room for everyone.
The park has basketball, tennis, skatepark and mini golf, plus a big open grass area!
very nice area and would recommend!!!
The best part is that it was free!! A very clean camping area. Plenty of spots available when we arrived. Only stayed one night, but lots to do.
There is an open field, skatepark, mini golf, tennis courts, and basketball courts. There might have been more, but I would definitely stay again.
The bathroom was clean, but did not have soap or hand sanitizer.
Great spot despite lack of electricity. Town seems to want people there. Great stop for kids. Was half full when we were there. A couple of long-timers and couple of people passing through.Report Check-In
This is a great place to pull off for the night!! Donation based! the electrical boxes are now locked up, apparently a new campground opened up nearby and complained that she wasn’t getting business. Max stay is 3 days. The road noise isn’t bad once the sun went down. We did have a very loud train at 1am, but can’t complain much because this park has so much. Be sure to drop some money into the donation box to keep this place going! It’s hard to find places like these.Report Check-In
Great campground. Free to stay and park includes a variety of activities including Frisbee golf, puckleball, and a public swimming pool across the street.Report Check-In
Nice free campground at City Park in Wheatland WY. Pop 3500. Three nights allowed. Water and bathrooms. Free electric. You may need a very long cord! No showers. Lovdtbis town.Report Check-In
10/10 place to stay. Definitely as advertised. There were only 2 other people at the camp grounds over night. Bathrooms seem to be closed for the winter.Report Check-In
This is an amazing place! Quiet and peaceful. The train comes in evening and morning but went back sleep after the morning one easily because it’s so quiet. Skate park, multiple playgrounds, soccer field, frisbee golf, tennis courts, walking path and large grassy areas. Took dogs for a ling walk around and saw so many wonderful amenities. Which they had a dog park area there is certainly room for it! Loved it here and make sure I made a donation. We are using a park that is paid for with the residents tax dollars and I don’t want to take advantage of that! So great!Report Check-In
Easy in/out. 50 and 30 amp electric. Might need a longer cord for some of the sites as it's on the passenger rear side. Potable water available on the way in/out but not at sites. Took the last electric sites on a Friday night at 730.Report Check-In
ouch that train... as if it runs you over so close-by. but it is worth all the other amenities! pool closed for the season (opens when school closes).Report Check-In
Awesome place! Pulled in at 1:30am and there were sites available. Like everyone has said there is electrical at some. The sites are really long, fit our 44’ fifth wheel and truck, totaling 60’ no problem. Water at location and a dump site a little down the road. There is an awesome playground, mini golf, basketball and tennis courts! ABSOLUTE GEM!!Report Check-In
As others have said, this is a great spot! FREE camping!! Donations accepted. Water, bathrooms, electrical hookups at some spots, tennis courts, etc. Great spot not far off the Highway. Arrived here around 530 on a Thursday night and there were a few other vans/RVs here and a few spots left. Good Verizon service. No breathtaking views or anything but a nice place to stay for a night or two. Highly recommend!
BUT there is a loud train that passes through, it came around at 9pm and again at 4am.
Free! A perfect stop if you have young children thanks to the playground and skate park nearby. The train came in the evening in the morning but did not bother us. 5-6 sites with electricity and maybe 10 more sites without electricity.Report Check-In
Donation based. 6 places for RVs, 4 places for tents. Right in a city park, near train tracks. Very pleasant evening, watched baseball and swam in community pool. Had two kids come up and bang on our tent at 3am, but besides that, it was fineReport Check-In
This place is great! We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed playing tennis, shooting hoops and having electricity. There’s a shade structure with electricity by the campsites. There’s also a pool adjacent to the park, and a mini putt putt in the park. The pool is closed now, but if it were open it’s only )1, and they supposedly have showers.Report Check-In
Nice town park with 10 spaces for any size RV and another spot for tent camping. 6 sites have free 30 and 50 amp electricity. Portable water and a free dump. Trash cans are everywhere.
We felt safe. Lots of maintenance workers kept the place trimmed and clean.
The train track is close and the train is loud.... but it wasn’t a problem.
We would definitely return.
Free/donation. The town has overnight camping sites at the park with shade and tables. A wedding was at the park yesterday so we had music until 11.Report Check-In
awesome. very cute park with a playground, ball fields, and a mini golf course. there are bathrooms nearby and water and electricity are free. there are about a dozen camps.... three or four are reserved for tents and there are another three or four that have power hookups. not a lot of shade except the campground backs up to a pleasant stream. they do ask for a donation but seems very well worth it.Report Check-In
My second visit in two years. It’s still as clean and quiet as my last visit. This time I stayed the full 3 days. Nothing much to do in this town, just enjoying this big clean park.Report Check-In
Just like described.. free campground to stay for a night or two. Great amenities which include a dump station, bathroom, trash and playground.Report Check-In
As described. Were the only ones camping there that night. Cars driving through the park and camping area from time to time.Report Check-In
Nice little spot. Make sure to stop by the one dollar town pool just nearby!Report Check-In
As described. We arrived about 8:30 on a Tuesday eve. Still two slots available and the tent site lot was empty. Seems everyone was already in for the night.Report Check-In
unbelievable that this place is free (donation-based). we stayed in site 2 near the road and had a great night's sleep, but the train did wake me up at 6am. was a small price to pay for a site with water fill, electric hookup, dump station, and a park with great amenities!Report Check-In
Nice park, mostly quiet with the exception of the occasional train, some locals and their big trucks blazing by as well. FREE is good but please leave a donation.Report Check-In
As described... a free spot with electric hook ups. Portable water also located here.
The city of Wheatland is trying to bring people in to check out their town.
Located at a town park, there are plenty of activities here. Tennis courts, play ground, horseshoe pits, frisbee golf.
3 day maximum stay.Report Check-In
Nice spot. Few places has electricity. There is a basketball field, tennis court, big grassy field and a skate area. There is also a toilet and water. We had LTE phone reception. No amazing views but a nice stop. Of you have children they will love it here.Report Check-In
Arrived during winter storm 5 inches of snow on the ground, parking spots not plowed . bathroom with light on but closed . Electricity available ! Both 15,20 and 30 amps .Report Check-In
