Remote developed campground. Water, no hookups. Very pleasant. Popular with invasive burros as well as campers. Just down the road from the Wildrose cement kilns which are worth a visit.

Report Check-In

Beautiful scenery. Absolutely no shadow. The road to Mahogany Flat Campground is closed after the klins, so I decided to stay here

Report Check-In

This is a bit of a drive to get to but worth it for the scenery & burros we saw chasing each other. camp spots aren't very large but fine for a van or if you have a car & are tent camping plus a picnic table. they have trash removal here + a pit toilet. no cell service.

Report Check-In

Campground is close to the coal kilns and hiking trails. The temps can drop below 20 in winter.

Report Check-In

Empty during winter. Temps drop below 20 at night.

Campsites completely exposed and very close to each other. Paved road the whole way but narrow in some places.

Report Check-In

Great free campsite, perfect for stargazing. Lots of spots, early October only a handful of other campers

Report Check-In

great campground. nice views. a few other campers. very windy today, and ranger expected few tents due to expected wind.

Report Check-In

great campsite. There are a few other campers. It is very windy today.
We found a site slightly up the hill.

As per last comment. Excellent free campground: vault toilets & potable water. No rigs over 25', but definitely noticed a few rigs that are much larger (not sure why). Campground was full on this night, but wasn't full until late evening.

Not many people camping there because of it’s location. Fire ring w/grill grates. Very nice spot but got very windy over night and in the morning! Great bathroom and water fill up.

Report Check-In

23 sites tucked into a flat area in between two gentle hills. Some have space, others are really close together. This was a CCC site during the Depression, so one campsite has wide steps leading up to it and there are other remnants around.

Clean pit toilet with plenty of TP. Trash cans emptied regularly by friendly rangers. The upper sites say "tent only" but the rangers seemed fine with people camping in cars/vans there.

It was so windy the first night we stayed there that the van was rocking and all the folks in tents left by dawn. Otherwise perfect weather and only a half dozen sites filled.

The charcoal kilns another 6 miles up the road were pretty neat.

Report Check-In

4x4 not needed if coming through Emigrant Canyon Road. 25ft length restriction but otherwise easy drive

Report Check-In

Rustic place, nightly burro visits. Gets hot quick in morning! Secluded, so real quiet. Great skies at night! When approaching from the south there's about 3 miles of mild dirt. 4wd not necessary, lower clearance cars should go slow, low clearance not advised.

Report Check-In

Great campground. Free so people clear out later than early but was full by 3 on weekends and had 1 or 2 open on a Monday night. I lucked out and grabbed the 1 high hillside campsite. There’s 2 in between sites also. Need 4x4 to get up there due to large holes in road but did it in Outback with a bit of slipping. No service. Drinking water. Nice place.

Beautiful FREE sites in the more mountain area of Death Valley so wind isn’t as bad . Washboard roads leading up to it but they weren’t too bad. Few other people here but sites aren’t right on top of each other. Sign was still up saying campsite was closed from the govt shut down but they were in fact open.

Report Check-In

Small, quiet place-not much room for trailers, more for bikers w/tents. Pit toilet & water available. Lots of people for early December! Ok for one night.

Report Check-In

A pit toilet, fire pits and tables are here, but no shade...

Nice spot in the heights of Death Valley! Little bit away from the mainstreams / streets very quiet and peaceful! Good spot to start the hike to Telescope Peak early in the morning.

Report Check-In
