Fair for a night but it's pretty loud and busy for most of the night. Also since there is no bathroom here, the area just next to the station is a giant toilet and pretty disgusting. At times the smell of burning brakes gets pretty strong. Personally I would not stay here again as there a better places going to Argentina before you hit the border station further from the road and not as gross. We bought 15 liters of fuel and they has no issues with us staying the night.

estacion de servicio segura. no hay baños. pero te permiten dormir. pasamos 1 noche. antes de cruzar frontera

Report Check-In

AFTER a full tank of fuel we asked if we could park. We were told, “yes, under the trees.” We backed in and had a reasonably quiet night with a roaring river.
We used no services but a trash can.
Please get fuel, dinner, snacks if you are using fuel stations to park! It’s just courtesy.

We arrived around 6:30 pm and were not allowed to stay overnight

Report Check-In

The area was closed off by cones. We got a little more fuel and asked if we could park. She said yes, just move and replace the cones. It was a quiet night. The river at the back door. Lots of trash and poop, but we slept.

Note- if you want to camp further up (even if the border is closed and you want to wait for it) just tell them that you are going to Portillo. Then choose a spot up higher. There may be a small barricade and a line below if the border is closed due to weather. But mostly it is cars waiting that don’t want to pay the toll and then turn back. (Toll is 3,300cp)

Excelente lugar para passar a noite. É um pátio ao lado do último Copec antes de subir os Caracoles. Seguro. Só estávamos nós, mas foi uma noite bem tranquila.

Just wanted to add that there are indeed hot showers with good pressure. Just need to ask for it as it’s not in the same building as the toilets. We paid 1500 pesos per person.

Nice staff.

Big parking spot, bathrooms were OK but no showers. It was a quiet night just before crossing the border. 3G with Entel worked well.

Report Check-In

Spent the night here after crossing the border from Argentina. Did not use bathroom or any other service; stopped at the parking lot to the left of the station, under some trees; there was one other iOverlander there and we had a nice chat. Ground very uneven, took a while to level our motorhome. Noisy until late night: not 10PM, more like 11PM to midnight until things quieted down, still intermittent noise from road traffic, but good enough for a sleep as we were really tired. No one bothered us.

we filled our tank, then we ask for to stay overnight. no problem! talk with the guys and give them a few lolly-pops. we had also electricity and the toilet for free. we spend two days there, because the road to argentina was closed about snow and ice. no wifi available. but its safe and okay! there is also a office to make the insurance for argentina. you can choose for 7 or 30 days, the insurance is valid for argentina, paraguay, brasil and uruguay. we paid for 30 days 37'000 chil. pesos. paid with credit cards.
