Something not right?

Description

Welcome to hell. We went to both of the other immigration offices (in the malls) to extend our visas and in each case they refused and sent us here, although I don't know why. Take a number, waiting over 5 hours and counting...

Renewal still possible and fairly straightforward. Now $25 for 30 days. No need for TIP paperwork, only copy of c4 entry stamp.

- go to section c and pay 5c for a form.
- go to information point with form. They attach photocopy of your passport and give you a ticket number.
- wait between section c and f with no name for you number. Lady asked how much money we had, where we were going and our professions.
- pay at section c again and give receipt back to other section and wait outside again.
- when your name is called collect your passport with new stamp, done.

Two hours total. Recommend arriving before 9.30am.

First time coming to this place since May, we live 4.5 hours away so we hadn’t made the trip since we figured we could just pay the small fee ($1usd/day & $15usd for another 30 day visa). Our visas were 90 days expired and it wasn’t a problem, they just asked us to pay the multa (fine). They changed the fees August 6th so we were hit with a hefty $3usd/day fine and $25usd visa for another 30 days only. Definitely a bit frustrating how they are taking advantage of foreigners stuck in the country by increasing visa prices, hopefully we can get out of here in the next month or so.

Just as described below. This is my 4th renewal due to covid. Show up with copys ready and before 9am before the crowds show up.

Extending the visa took us 2 hours at the Migracion (12.14812,-86.2508). We asked for 2 months (seeing how the situation with Covid drags on...) but they only gave us one. We followed the instructions below and it went well. We didn't have to give a copy of our TIP. They didn't ask for it or how we got into the country. They asked where we went in the country, where we're staying at (you have to give an adress), why we ask for the extension ofthe visa, plus couple personal questions. One more month of visa cost 500 Cordobas (approx. 15€) per person.
Before entering the administrations and banks, they control your temperature, you have to clean your hands and your shoes.
Now we're waiting for the boarder to open on the Pacific coast.

A very, very easy process. It took us 40 minutes and we had our visa. We arrived around 12.30pm and it was quiet, we didn’t queue at all. The place is open 8-5 Mon-Sat.
Follow the instructions below. We needed a copy of the picture page of the passport, a copy of the page with the C4 entry stamp and a copy of the TIP document from the aduana (as we had no proof of a departing flight - you need a copy for each person).
She asked how long I wanted to extend for. I asked 30 days and this was added on the the remaining days I already had left. I got a new stamp for 38 days. So you can renew the visa if you have more than 5 days remaining. I read somewhere you should do it between 5-7 days before expiry.

The process below is exact. Show up with copies done. I added the TIP and drivers license. They were a little confused by no stamp from Los Manos. But in less than 2 hours we had 36 more days. Bring cash (500C). Tomorrow we try the TIP extension.

Very very easy! It took us less than 30min... follow the instructions bellow. Just do not forget that it’s only possible to ask for an extension of the visa within the last 5 days before its expiration. We had to go back a second time because it was not yet within that timeline...

Thank you to Wir Sind Dann For their very thorough instructions. Took us 90 minutes in total from arrival to departure. Make sure you get your number and listen carefully for them calling you. It’s organised but difficult sometimes to hear.

Opening hours:
08:00am - 01:00pm

You need:
- your passport
- a copy of the first page of your passport
- a copy of the entry stamp into the CA-4 area
- because we didn't have an airplane ticket leaving the country they wanted a copy of the car import stamp. This copy worked for both of us, although the stamp is only in one passport.
- you need an address and phone number in Nicaragua (take any hostel or hotel)
- they didn't ask for it, but better bring the 10$ receipt you got when entering the country.

You can park directly in front of the migration building, with all the security around it seemed safe.
There is a possibility to get copies done just outside migration on the street

- go to counter 22 and ask for the form to extend your visa "Prorroga de estancia". It's 5 Cordoba
- fill it out and better bring your own pen. We had some problems but just in front of the building are several officials who can help you. They are also helping all the locals
- Go to the counter at the entrance and ask for a number for section D. The lady will also check if you have all necessary information filled out.
- wait at section D. Or better try to go to an empty counter. Waiting at the beginning didn't really seem to work.
- the lady at section D put everything in the system. we had to go to the "caja" to pay 500 Cordoba per person for 30 days extension.
- back to section D, bit more waiting and you are done

The people working there were a bit confused at the beginning because we didn't have an entry stamp of Nicaragua and didn't understand why we wanted to get an extension. They didn't really know about the 90 days in all of CA-4 and tried do convince us that Guatemala is Guatemala and Nicaragua is totally different. But we insisted and it worked.

All in all it didn't take too long, around 1,5 hours. Try to be there before 9:30 at that time the hall filled up pretty quickly.

Prices:
30 days - 500 Cordoba
60 days - 1000 Cordoba
90 days - 1500 Cordoba
